  2. MLB with zero salary cap has more parity than the NFL. NHL has the most. http://harvardsportsanalysis.org/2016/12/w...he-most-parity/
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 09:01 AM) I would be v surprised if congress did not have allocated protection for themselves. But i suppose I have never heard anything concrete there.
  4. I don't think the majority whip is in the line of succession.
  5. definitely not a good turn of events edit: there's going to be lots of instant speculation and rumors, best to wait until facts come in
  6. Trump hits a new record, 60% disapproval rating from Gallup. Trump's 60% disapproval rating is higher than anything Gallup *ever* recorded for FDR, Ike, JFK, LBJ, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Obama. He's managed to do this with 4.5% unemployment and no major domestic or international crisis. Incredible.
  7. Did the same this morning. Was really dismayed when I heard Sen. Murray pushing back against the idea of pulling out all the stops to oppose this thing. Every hour they hold up business in the Senate is an hour they don't have to pass this atrocity. That they did this to "work with" Republicans to tack on some dumb Russia sanctions bill to an already bad Iran sanctions bill is just so frustrating. Going to impact 1/6th of the economy, throw tens of millions off of insurance and do it without a single hearing or mark-up session. All to give millionaires and billionaires a trillion dollar tax cut and set up even bigger tax cuts down the road.
  8. The GOP is intentionally sabotaging Obamacare and the President is bragging about the harm it's causing.

  11. Trump’s Personal Lawyer Boasted That He Got Preet Bharara Fired Marc Kasowitz, President Trump’s lawyer in the Russia investigation, has bragged he was behind the firing of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 06:40 PM) So, how badly does the intelligence community revolt if Trump fires Mueller? That's the "the government is no longer legitimate" point I think, assuming Congressional Republicans continue to not do anything about the corruption and abuse of power.
  13. I'm sure we'll see the numbers rise as conservative media starts defending it forcefully, but as of right now, they're working awfully hard to pass a bill that a huge majority hates
  14. Trump had a full cabinet meeting today wherein he went around the room and asked every Cabinet member to praise him and what a good job he's done. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-...4b0c5a35ca1acbe Schumer made a response https://twitter.com/SenSchumer/status/874327317748883456
  15. Senate GOP has a bill that they're sending to the cbo, but they refuse to release it publicly. https://t.co/2SETQHwuX1 There will be zero hearings on this bill that impacts 1/6 of the economy and will strip health insurance from millions
  16. More courts dunking on Donny using his own words Who knew Muslim Bans could be so complicated?
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) honestly, if Trump fired Mueller what would be the recourse? Impeachment (lol, Republicans will never, ever impeach him), or massive civil unrest and the unraveling of the legitimacy of the US government.
  18. Democratic Party is still sort of garbage but Bernie isn't a panacea. Corbyn showed the potential behind energizing a large youth vote behind a progressive/leftist platform with a real vision for the future, and that's something Democrats need to seriously look at going into the 2018 and 2020 elections. That's a good strategy for Democrats to take in a lot of places. Overall, though, if they take back a majority in the House or Senate, they're going to have to bring along blue dogs and suburban neoliberal democrats with them. e: they're also two distinct political systems with substantially different structures and political histories and cultures. I don't think Corbyn's platform would work too well in much of the US. e2: I think more centrist dems have a decent counterpoint, too, when you look at France. Corbyn had a very strong showing, but ultimately, he didn't win. Macron not only won the Presidency, his newly created political party took a large majority of the parliament.
  19. Corbyn also got about 100x the s*** from both the media and his own party that Bernie did, and he still managed to win party leadership and make a huge turnaround for the whole labour party.
