The Bathroom Dilemma
Trump has said he's ok with people using whatever gendered bathroom they identify with/present as.

Favorite High School Graduation Moments
We built a trebuchet as a final project for our physics class. Most of the other groups' were table-top models. Ours was brought in on a flatbed trailer and we used a couple hundred pounds of weights from the weight room. It threw a 5 lb sledge hammer head 100 yards or so from what I remember. What I'm saying is you should definitely build functional siege weapons.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) Nah. 6 months from now the independents who care will still vote. And the ones who liked Bernie won't vote Trump. Or they may be pissed off about the various anti-democratic issues in the primaries and caucuses and some of the rhetoric coming from some Democrats and just stay home. Why be intentionally antagonistic?

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) You want that system, start your own party! The Democratic and Republican parties have no obligation to you as a voter. they want to attract voters, though, and stuff like this pushes them away.

Given that manufacture date, that alarm should be replaced anyway. They usually only last 10 years.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Your party doesn't even have any primaries. They pick a candidate at their convention. Why can't I have a vote in the Libertarian nominee? That's lunacy. Of the dozen or so political parties which ran a candidate for President in the last election, two held primaries the rest did not. I think the important counterpoint to this is that for a variety of reasons we're really stuck with a two-party system at least at the Presidential level, and if you want to have a say in who the nominees of the only people with a shot at the office will be, you have to choose D or R.

Suffragettes will also appear on the back of the $10. The Onion with a solid line: “I’ll be honest: When Lin-Manuel Miranda told me he had a plan to get Harriet Tubman onto the $20 bill, I thought he was nuts.”

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) I am certain it was the play, and thank goodness. I actually read that biography recently (I had heard it was fairly run-of-the-mill biography but I thought the writer did a very good job, albeit had to make a lot of paragraphs like "one could imagine Hamilton meeting x person here for the first time" since Hamilton had so little documentatio of his life before the army. I loved it. Loved the Aaron Burr being a whiney baby stories too. I will always think of that got milk commercial with the guy with a mouth full of peanut butter whenever I read "Aaron Burr"

The pushback on the original plan, which was to replace Hamilton, came from Hamilton supporters, not "complaints of racism and sexism."

Hamilton to stay on $10; Tubman replacing Jackson Wonder how much that Hamilton play influenced this change? Originally, Hamilton was supposed to be gone and Andrew "Trail of Tears" Jackson was to remain on the $20.

Because it's a political party choosing their own nominee. I'm in favor of open primaries but I get the logic of them being a little restrictive. New York's rules are still ridiculous though.

While looking to see if I could dig anything up, I came across this 2007 SoxTalk thread with the same complaints! http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61236 I know I've seen it before, and I didn't see it live, but I have no idea when/where I saw it.

Delegate Math and the GOP
Yeah, his pick-ups in NY last night make it much more likely than not that he'll have enough delegates to win on the 1st ballot (unless the rules committee manages to find ways to screw him over). He's going to crush everything out East, and he's polling really well in California. Him doing really poorly in Indiana is I think the only way he falls short at this point.

Sports Media discussion
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) I have never found any of those sports minutes interesting. They are all the epitome of old, meatball sports takes, and even the stories they choose are always the most milquetoast rick reilley subjects. They provided some good material for Abbatacola's sports minutes several years ago, but the real ones have always been hot garbage.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:51 PM) Saw a tweet where 1.5 mil Independant voters weren't allowed to vote when Bernie could've gotten 70% of them. The whole system needs to be redone. It's too out of date like a certain amendment. I have to imagine that is counting every registered independent in the state of New York, many of whom had no interest in voting in the primary at all, but it deceptively implies that they wanted to vote but were blocked. NY's 6 month registration deadline is ridiculous, but these types of complaints aren't really very helpful.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 06:18 AM) What types of answers would you have felt were a valid response? How could a candidate have answered the question that would have you applauding and not complaining? Everything he said up until that last sentence would have been fine if unremarkable.
