  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) I have to cite Jenks as being the winner of this argument. I appreciate the long responses from the others, but Jenks I feel has the right position on this. the death blow
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) People like a circus show. I actually would like to applaud Fox News, btw, and others should too. That was not a bunch of soft ball questions. They were hard on the candidates they were talking to. Trump especially. Questions about gay marriage, expansion of Medicare/Medicaid, Black Lives Matter, etc. and the answers were, from Kasich anyway, not extreme but quite moderate. And I liked how they backed off from the last decade and added "you know, like Reagan did" to appease the crazies. I only watched bits and pieces and read more stuff today, but it seems like Kasich killed it, Trump was entertaining but terrible, Paul warned about Iran, Christie invoked 9/11 to score points, Bush seemed the most polished and everyone else was forgettable. which, as it turns out, he wasn't actually nominated and made a US attorney until December 2001. I've also heard some complaining that Fox asked good, substantive questions of most of the candidates but that they lobbed softball after softball to Rubio. The claim is that they were trying to help salvage his floundering campaign, versus almost openly attacking Trump.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) The only reason Fox even made the movie was to keep the rights. wasn't that the same story with the terrible early 90's FF movie that was never actually released?
  4. I'm struggling to get up my excitement levels for the Bears this year, I have no faith in them to be anything but bad.
  5. Yeah it's really more the point that "but she went home with him" is in the top 5 date rape excuses hall of fame. It doesn't matter if she chose to go to Kane's house. It says nothing about whether a rape or sexual assault occurred. edit: but like gatnom pointed out above, we don't know much about this specific story yet. we don't even know what's alleged to have happened.
  6. great article looking over his wiki, Valenzueala just became a US citizen last month
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) He didnt say that, he said it usually meant sex was going to happen. Voluntarily going home with someone doesn't tell you whether that person later consented to having sex or not. She could have left with the intention of setting boundaries (3rd base only, not waving him home), she could have been too drunk to actually consent in the first place, she could have initially gone home with the intent of having sex but changed her mind. But it's still frequently used to discredit date rape victims.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Not to mention the court of public opinion where a significant amount of people who think that any time an athlete is accused, it is because she is a gold-digger. see: multiple posts in this quickly deteriorating thread
  9. jesus christ no, going home with someone does not mean that you have to have sex with them
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) Even if he did rape her, its the kind of date rape where the presence of alcohol and the lack of actual injuries could get it completely thrown out. Thats why date rape is horrific for victims and the law in general. Alcohol, the consent involved in following someone to their home and the lack of any real injuries makes it impossible to prosecute. Now if he beat her or drugged her then he's toast as he should be. Yep. It's a very difficult thing to actually prove in court (plus the rape victim has to be willing to put herself through the scrutiny she'll face at every step), and a lot of times charges might not even be brought because it'd be too hard to get a conviction.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) Why say anything if I was them? It just seemed fairly deliberate to not mention him and only mention his house. If your client is getting talked about all over the media as the target of a rape or sexual assault investigation and you know otherwise, it seems like you'd want to get that out there.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) So the Police statement is being run with by media outlets without actually reading it. The statement says they are investigating an incident that occurred at Kane's house but didnt actually say they were investigating Kane himself. Interesting detail there. QUOTE (staxx @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Good catch, I didn't realize that. I'd imagine Kane's PR team would be all over that already if he wasn't the target.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) This thread is full of so much boys will be boys crap. also 'lying whores gonna claim rape' crap
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) Friendly fire incidents are almost always communication f***-ups, not "oh my god I have a gun and it has a mind of its own and its going to shoot every person in the room because they're so dangerous!" QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) you guys are the best at beating down imaginary arguments.
  15. the proliferation of guns in the first place also makes it more likely that these dangerous situations happen in the first place
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Wait, we are now using the NFL as the gold standard of punishment? LOL
  17. you guys are the best at beating down imaginary arguments.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Interestingly enough, turns out he did not have a gun, but an air soft pellet gun, a hatchet, and pepper spray. Nobody died (except himself) but there was one "superficial" arm injury. Your joke was hilarious though. yeah but if everyone in the theater had a gun, then the situation would have turned out even better!
  19. QUOTE (HuskyCaucasian @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) In Cosby's case, he did, in a sense force himself on the women. They were drugged so he could do whatever he wanted. (Or do I have the Cosby stuff wrong) I guess I read your post as more "Kane could easily get laid whenever he wants, he doesn't need to rape anyone." Yeah, maybe he could, but that doesn't stop other famous people in the same situation from raping people.
  20. QUOTE (HuskyCaucasian @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) On a side note, Kane has his demons, and has done some not so great things, but he's NEVER struck me as a rapist. I dont think he needs to force himself on a woman to have sex. No idea about Kane specifically, but that's not what rape is always about e.g. Bill Cosby
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) If he isnt guilty of anything you would think he would have someone leak out whats going on and sorta dismiss a lot of the crazy rumors. best to let lawyers handle it
  22. No, just anyone who would use some hypothetical government abortion voucher coupon.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) The dreaded walk off walk walk walk
