The other example you used was Christie's Bridgegate. On what level is that a personal attack? It's an inquiry into his abuse of the powers of his office. That would be like saying investigating Blago and covering his crimes were a personal attack. It just doesn't make any sense. eta: as for twitchy, it's frequently directed to personal attacks at people the conservative movement doesn't like.
