  1. Why are they doing this squib kick garbage? It burned Carolina.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) All except for the biggest legacy problems not being solved... Didn't the uaw take over legacy health care costs? Either way, it's better than the liquidation and collapse of the domestic auto manufacturing industry that was the only alternative.
  3. Private financing simply wasn't available at that time. It would have been a bloodbath.
  4. Another giant cry-baby CEO, this time it's a local one! I know people who work or worked at this company and they've done quite well over the past 4 years despite getting a similar email in 2008. The CEO also has a gigantic home with a multi-store basement that includes a basketball court. But probably no bowling alley thanks to NOBAMA!

  6. Occupy Wall Street is buying distressed houses and canceling the debt. Finally something actually meaningful. Too bad the government didn't just do that with HAMP or TARP http://rollingjubilee.org/
  7. The coming debt battle Citing a phony "crisis," the GOP wants to gut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Democrats can't let them
  8. An interesting analysis of the electorate: http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political...achin041099.php
  9. Buzzfeed takes a look at what the electoral map would have looked like at different stages of enfranchisement in US history. 1870 (Traditional American vote) 1870-1920 (minority male vote, but no womens' vote) 1920 (only white men and women because of poll taxes, etc.)
  10. The part of the Voting Rights Act that makes Jim Crow states get any changes to their electoral process approved. It's been utilized numerous times to protect minority voting rights. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_Rights....94Preclearance
  11. SCOTUS agreed to take up a case challenging Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act
  12. Bargains, Grand Bargains, and Conceptual Confusion
  13. It appears that they were "unskewing" their own polls by assuming the electorate was going to be something that it wasn't. They refused to believe what the data were telling them. Absolutely no one who was paying any attention at all should have been surprised by an Obama win on Tuesday. Was it a sure thing? Absolutely not, but multiple reports indicate that the Romney campaign was in disbelief as the results came in. All of that stuff on Tuesday afternoon that Soxbadger was nervous about? Romney "expanding the field" by going to Pennsylvania? Only writing a victory speech? They did it completely earnestly, not as a bluff.
  14. Romney and Ryan were supposed to be "numbers" guys, right? Business experts and policy wonks. So why where they so shocked to lose on Tuesday when all of the numbers were telling them exactly what was going to happen?
  15. Warmer still: Extreme climate predictions appear most accurate, report says
  16. Mitch McConnell also announces that the GOP is simply not open to increasing taxes on the rich:
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) Huh? So all of those tea party candidates that won didn't really win because Democrats put up the wrong message? Isn't that what i'm arguing right now just from the reverse side? Several Tea Party candidates, like Walsh and West, lost. I fully expect Republicans to do well in 2014. Mid-term demographics favor them.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) How do you ruin a very valuable thread? Lets debate abortion!!!
