  1. Some numbers on "going over the fiscal cliff" http://www.econbrowser.com/archives/2012/1...g_over_the.html He makes the case that you really should break the "cliff" up into the individual issues. Some will be relatively easy to walk back after January 1st, some will be a bit more complicated. Also, related to what ss2k5 was saying earlier:
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) Haha yeah I know right. I had to go from Fort Worth to Wichita this summer and I wanted to just drive but my company just put me on a plane and the route sent us through Denver and took just as long if not longer. I'm really glad I get to book my own travel for work.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) I don't mind the actual flying, but I hate airports and airlines. It's very inconvenient and time-consuming to get anywhere unless you live near a major airport that has non-stop flights to a lot of places. People in and around Chicago are spoiled by having two major, central airport in the area. I've had to go to Augusta a few times. I always elected to fly to either Atlanta or Charleston and drive the 3.5 hours instead of multi-leg flights.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) Id like some information from yahoo. Like whether people were able to make changes or not. Because we have people who claim they made changes, and we have people who claim they were completely blocked. If people were blocked and other people made changes, that is completely different than "everyone was blocked at 11 am so it was fair." You and your league can do whatever you want. I just think that a lot of people out there are wondering what happened and would like information from yahoo so that they can make the correct decision on how the week should be handled. You seem to have definitively made that call so congrats, other leagues are trying to work it out because they dont think its so simple. I was able to get in sporadically throughout the day
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 11:20 PM) Talked to my friend who invests money of only the richest people and said he is "devastated" by Obama's re-election. He said he didn't want to go into it, but basically said the economy is doomed and we are in deep trouble. Just passing on what he told me. There are a lot of cry-baby ceo's and finance-types right now.
  6. Cuban would not actually notice if his tax rate climbed 4%. It would have zero impact on his life.
  7. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 05:51 PM) seems outdated. the progressive in me thinks that rule should be lifted. Nah, it needs to be expanded. This year it was Ohio and Pennsylvania trying to disenfranchise the 'wrong' kinda of voters and they aren't covered by pre-clearance.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 11, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) I'm starting to think Breaking Bad should have ended after season 4. I would have been fine with that. It's going to be hard to top the last 2-3 episodes from the season.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 6, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) I hope no one was anticipating the World War Z movie...because you won't be any more. http://www.etonline.com/movies/126557_Excl...ar_Z/index.html that was pretty disappointing.

Southwest will be taking over AirTran's current routes at Memphis, just as they are with most other AirTran routes. I doubt they add a non-stop to Chicago, though.
  12. wait is this actually a thing? are people actually upset that Urlacher gave Manning credit for a good play?
  13. CREW has their "most corrupt" politicians report out. http://www.crewsmostcorrupt.org/page/-/PDF...012.pdf?nocdn=1
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) Electoral map with states resized based on population. Nothing we didn't know, but still neat to look at. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mejn/election/2012/ more cartograms along the same lines
  15. But that's only an hour window to try to make changes, find the system down, and then decide that you need to email the commish because the site is going to remain down.
  16. David Frum captures my frustration with the obsession about the deficit among the media and politicians:
  17. There's always boats.
  18. The announcers commented on his mannerisms after that hit and the long challenge period, that he still didn't look completely recovered.
  19. Rasmussen has a bad model but they weren't the worst this time around. What matters is if he sees these results and corrects his models going forward. That'll show if he's a serious pollster or just producing propaganda.
  20. Nate Silver breaks down how all of the polls did over the last 21 days of the election: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2...sidential-race/
  21. I'll pass judgement, he was checking down the entire time for no damn reason.
  22. oh wtf on that no-call
  23. argh another short pass and then taking forever to get to the line.
  24. So much for the halfway-competent backup QB
