QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 11:40 PM) We did? I don't recall Walt ever saying he was bought out for his share of the company, which was only $5,000 compared to the nearly $900M it would be worth right now. But we knew that something happened between Gretchen and him that forced him to leave and that Gretchen and her husband are now lavishly wealthy while Walt was a poorly paid high school teacher. The exact amounts aren't that important, and him telling Jesse that his empire is all he has left was much more powerful. (pedantic quibble: his personal shares likely wouldn't have been worth $900M. The company had been public for a while at that point and the three founders wouldn't have remained in complete control and ownership of the company. Still, he'd be a decamillionaire if not a centimillionaire.

That was another great episode of Breaking Bad. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 08:10 AM) I can't see this show having a "happy" ending. Well, he was inspecting an M60 in the trunk of the car in the season opener. That's usually not a sign of good times.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) kind of below average Onion 'snark'. and this is coming from a big fan of the Onion. but it's a hard topic to make hilarious The headline was good, the rest was kinda meh. You need to be a really, really good comedian to pull off a rape joke. edit: Forgot to throw this in here last night. Akin and Ryan co-sponsored a bill to redefine rape last year, distinguishing between 'forcible' rape and other kinds of rape. In addition to being a fraudulent "deficit hawk" who really only cares about gutting social welfare spending, Ryan also holds some pretty abhorrent social views.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) Tell me more about the (non) justifications from the UN supporting the (non) invasion of Iraq that didn't turn out to be knowingly fabricated bulls***. Do what now? Are you still seriously supporting the invasion of Iraq? After everything that's come out showing exactly how much bulls*** they knowingly presented to the public? How none of the "evidence" was anything more than some rumors and stories told by incredibly unreliable "sources" that every intelligence agency knew was unreliable?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) That is absolutely a false premise and you know it, but then, you're cherry picking because you don't want to admit that there were other reasons for taking actions against Iraq. No one wants to, because it's not the politically expedient thing to do. Tell me more about the justifications for invading Iraq that didn't turn out to be knowingly fabricated bulls***

Beckham having a rough second half
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) I've never seen Sox fans make more excuses for an awful hitter. Beckham has sucked for a long, long time. Brian Anderson?

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) I could turn that question around to the naysayers on this site. Gordon Bewckham was rushed to the majors and in his 4 years had to learn basically two new positions over his original college SS days. Gordon Beckham has shown the ability all he needs is the confidence. I am not aure you can expect a turnaround during reguar season but hed does work on improving. The glove is super. I think at the very least the off season will give him a chance to get straightened out [citation needed]

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) He should have withdrawn already. Word is he will by tomorrow, no doubt because I thought I read that tomorrow is the last day to replace a candidate and still be eligible to be on ballot. Horrible statement to make. Maybe we should throw him in general pop and ask him a week later his opinions about rape. I know Democrats were happy with his win in the primary, counting it as another Christine O'Donnell-type pick.

M en get raped too. Male-on-male rape is a huge problem in prisons.

What's so horrible about that is how it implies that women who get pregnant after being raped weren't really raped, they're just saying that now.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) Here's what I don't get -- you routinely throw things like this into your posts towards a Balta or StrangeSox, when they've repeatedly said (and taken consistent positions with that) they disagree about a lot of stuff Obama does, and that he's pretty much the lesser of two evils to them. Why you continue to perpetuate the myth that everyone who doesn't agree with you bows down to Obama, I have no idea. The nexT time kap sports his argument will be the first.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) The debate has been over for more than a decade. The pro-Democrat media is a fact. Sure, true Democrat zealots will deny it, but the vast majority of legitimate studies have shown very favorable coverage for Democrats and news presented in a way to coincide with the Democrat party narrative of the time. citation needed

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) So now not only do you know their inner most motivations, you just happen to know they are lying as well. You should be a police interrogator or something. I'm pretty sure most police could connect the dots between "claims to be non partisan" and "run by a bunch of republicans with a documented history of partisanship." I don't need strong investigatory powers for that.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 07:00 AM) So when you have a huge SuperPAC being run by former White House staffers, who are logged in as visiting the WHite House many times after they have left and whose ads so closely mimic the White House talking points and actions that they even share the same guy in an ad wearing the same clothes (the guy who claims Romney killed his wife), that's just coincidence, right? And not collusion, which is illegal? Come on, since you can read intent from what you see, tell us! Probably not a coincidence! The rules are a joke and will never amount to charges. Anyway I'm not sure what that has to do with these guys lying their assess off. Swiftboat 2012!

It seems pretty clear if you listen to this interview! You also have some of the people in this group involved in past leaks, like going on Hannity's show and defending the Valerie Plame leak by discussing details of her training, assignment and cover. But I'm sure they're all just a bunch of disinterested, honest guys, right? Nothing partisan here. Also Scott Taylor just happens to have run for office as a Republican two years ago. But completely non-partisan, I'm sure of it. Oh and it's just coincidence that they share office space with a Republican consulting firm. Total coincidence, nothing at all partisan about this.
