  1. More liberal media bias, obviously! CNN also refuses to have any sort of standards for the right-wing bloggers like Dana Loesch and Erick Erickson they regularly have on. CNN's Erin Burnett "moved to tears" during Ann Romney's speech.
  2. I sent a message through their website congratulating them on their successes and noting how crucial programs to give small businesses a helping hand are for our economy and our society.
  3. Hilarious twist on "You didn't build that!" Someone from Reddit bought up http://www.firststatemanufacturing.com/ and made her a nice website! And her real website has this nice article about how to get federal dollars for being a minority-owned business! whoops!
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) It's a big deal because probably 80% of the electorate (being generous there) are morons who only follow the headlines (being generous again) and pick their candidate based on what tie they're wearing or whether they're wearing an American flag pendent. So yeah, how the media portrays a candidate is very important and making the RNC look like a get together of white folks in Florida just perpetuates a stereotype that minorities only vote democrat. two points: 90%+ of the electorate are partisans and media coverage doesn't matter. The Republican campaign and their platform are what is alienating minorities, not media coverage of the convention.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) The teacher isn't as important in a student's educational development as their parents are. Teachers are paid what they are worth.
  6. Well that was my point; Obama was given the keynote spot so of course it was going to be covered. If the GOP had given the keynote spot to Nikki Haley, it would have been covered.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) Outside of Chicago, who had heard of Barack Obama before his convention speech? Obama was giving the keynote speech, and they've cut back on total coverage since 2004. Maybe it's a good thing that they didn't cover the Puerto Rican speech, though, since some in the crowd began chanting "USA! USA!" when she started speaking. edit: The chants were likely related to the Ron Paul supporters being pissed off about their votes not counting or something, but the optics are still terrible.
  8. The 10 oddest items in the GOP platform
  9. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) What would you do without google? Lead a sad and empty life full of unanswered questions.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Don't watch it, i'm just talking about the "face" of the networks. I don't really find O'Reilly as annoying from the partisan side as I do Hannity, Matthews and Maddow. There might be others, but again, I don't watch either network. SPEAKING OF liberal bias, anyone see the Drudge links to how MSNBC and NBC didn't air any minority speakers at the RNC? Ya think that's just coincidence, or does that feed the "GOP is only full of racist white people" stereotype? No one should ever see Drudge links because he's a terrible hack. Matthews is just a dumb sycophant. He got his tingly leg feelings for Bush, too.
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) And Obama ads feature Republican Women for Obama. Only problem is most of the women in the ad are registered Democrats. A quick googling seems to indicate that a couple of women in the ad are registered Democrats, which, without some additional information, isn't a problem at all. The whole point is that they used to be Republicans but now aren't. This still doesn't compare to the welfare work requirements blatant and complete lie that the Romney campaign has been running with for weeks now.
  12. Coal miners say they were forced to attend Romney event and donate And on top of it, they didn't pay them their day's wages, either. Job Creators know when paying us for how they dictate our time is and is not in our best interests
  13. I caught all of two minutes of a speech last night while driving to the store. Managed to hear some more dog-whistling about Obama gutting welfare work requirements, though.
  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 11:23 PM) Because if you have a guy teacher, especially if he is single, there are always those that look at him and wonder if he is a pedophile or a pervert.
  15. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 11:20 PM) Well we pay politicians 6 figures and look what THAT gets us. ANd we spend more per pupil in education than many countries that have better results, so again, look what that gets us. Money isn't the answer. Gotta retain the top talent though, right?
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) Alan Colmes sucked, but Hannity sucks just as much. I'd say Anderson Cooper, the dude from Britain and Wolf Blitzer are all partisan. Not to the degree of Fox and MSNBC. But IMO, Fox has one annoying partisan - Hannity, and MSNBC has two - Matthews and Maddow. And Scarborough used to be conservative, until he found out that he could have his own show on a liberal network, so he became much more moderate. But he's hardly a "conservative" anymore. Fox & Friends has three in one show
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 06:47 AM) The Obama camp makes fun of it themselves selling "Made in America: shirts and mugs with his pic and that caption on it, and specifically reference the issue in the description. So what is it, you can only joke about birterism if you are black, democrat or both? Unless you are going to be outraged at them joking about it as well, sound like some pretty ginned up rage to me. Laughing with and laughing at are different things
  18. That obliviousness is still an example of white privilege, though.
  19. Pretty similar, my wife was an editor and now teaches English. I can write something that's grammatically correct and coherent, but she's much better with flow and phrasing.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 25, 2012 -> 05:08 PM) You don't seem to see the other side of the coin... I'm not opposed to patents in general, but they're getting ridiculous. Patenting basic interface functionality or form factor severely limits the marketplace. Like Balta said, it'd be like someone holding a twenty year patent on the mouse.
  21. Ugh that took forever. Good thing I have my wife to help ghost write it for me.
