QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) I disagree. I want him to fear being raped the only reason someone would (rationally) fear being raped in prison is because there is a serious problem with rape in prison. If you want that fear to continue, you want that problem to continue. I don't think you actually support continued prison rapings, but that's where your statement leads to.

A multi-season arc that results in nothing happening would be awful.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) When did Walt try and kill Hank? Im pretty sure Walt has stopped people from going after Hank. Hank just seems like he does care about his family, also its going to make Hank look like a fool. He was chasing this big time dealer and it was his brother in law. It may ruin his career. Hank wussing out would ruin his whole story arc and make it pointless.

Corey Booker giving quite the angry/forceful speech right now.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) Well there is always a chance that Hank lets Walt off the hook... Hank figuring out Walt's role doesnt really jive with the flashforward, as no way is Walt fighting the DEA with a gun. There has to be another intervening invent. Hank was psychologically disturbed by "chasing a monster." I don't think he'll be letting Walt off.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) You assume so much in that post it is not worth my effort to educate you any more. I told you I don't endorse his being raped. I told you I want him to fear being raped. That's pretty cut and dried. You accused me of wanting somebody raped, being happy about somebody being raped, which is not the case. You won't apologize for it. Good for you. You get the last word with your refusal to apologize. You win. On to the next topic. Dude, if you want him to fear being raped, then you want there to be a legitimate reason for that dear.unless you're hoping he irrationally fears things and coincidentally picked rape.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) And greg when I refer to being on the wrong side of history, its this what I am referring to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ElectoralCollege1860.svg Now compare to the map at http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/ Over 150 years later, the first map still rules. The only state that would have voted for Lincoln and not Obama, Indiana. The only state that would have voted against Lincoln and for Obama, Virginia. Some days I wish that the North would have just let the South go. Im tired of supporting them with my tax dollars, while they refuse to change socially. And that is something youre beloved liberal media never talks about, donor states. http://taxfoundation.org/blog/why-do-some-...ding-not-others http://taxfoundation.org/sites/taxfoundati...ftsbs-large.jpg Irony that 8 of the top 10 at spending federal money will vote Republican. Meanwhile its likely that at least 8 of 10 donor states will vote Democrat. (Maybe 10 of 10.) http://taxfoundation.org/article/federal-t...enditures-state I always wonder why no one hammers on that. You dont want federal money, why am I sending it to you? The hypocrisy is unnerving. The daily show did a great bit on that last week.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 12:00 PM) Rockdale, Joliet's poor next door neighbor has nice teacher salaries as well. Average Teacher Salary in Rockdale School District 84 The average teacher salary in Rockdale School District 84 is $56,092. Grade Level Average 10th percentile 25th percentile Median 75th percentile 90th percentile Pre-school $29,350 $19,930 $22,900 $27,970 $34,110 $40,410 Kindergarten $47,800 $27,360 $34,670 $42,890 $59,050 $76,870 Elementary $63,860 $36,450 $45,290 $60,420 $81,490 $99,340 Middle school $64,920 $38,540 $46,660 $62,320 $81,590 $98,810 High school $74,530 $42,210 $54,700 $72,360 $93,200 $113,870 Seems like the pre-school teachers bringing the average down. These are college educated professionals, and those in the top quintile have decades of experience and likely advanced degrees.compared to other field with similar education and experience, they are underpaid.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Mine has DECREASED 15%. I don't care about athletes, and quit moving the goalposts. Oh, and I bet that $56k didn't factor in generous benefits either, which I don't get. That is unfortunate. Let's work together to get better benefits for all labor instead of joining the race to the bottom.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) For about the last half of BB, I kept thinking, where is the action, where is the cliffhanger? They kept teasing like they were going to offer it up, like maybe Skyler spilling to her sister while they were alone and she was putting the pressure on to take the kids back. Or something coming of the Madrigal chick trying to set up the new distribution network, or even with the skinheads taking out the ten names. Great action, and a nice quiet reveal with Hank getting the WW connection on the s***ter. It definitely lacked the punch of last years finale.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) It also makes the system harder to sustain if it is balanced on the backs of a minority of the country. Minority of people, majority of wealth.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 07:44 AM) Wait until interest rates go back up and we are spending a trillion dollars a year on debt service. Any year now!

Yeah rape-as-punishment is horrible.

Wow the daily caller still blaming poor blacks for the housing bubble, shocking. The CRA and lawsuits against banks that violated it did not cause the housing and credit bubbles.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) My hometown had that kind of funny realization that they absolutely depended on gov't spending. While on one hand they all scream about tax cuts this and that...the state came to close our prison and they realized our little town would cave in on itself without all those state employees. The prison was saved, yet they hate that taxes went up. Hmm Oswego 308 is the largest employer in Kendall County.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) I recall several liberal pundits claiming that Issac happening during the convention was a 'sign from God' that he didn't like the Republicans. Then Issac moved on and left them alone, it became 'how can those Republicans party while Issac hits states next door', completely ignoring the actual President who was doing fundraisers all over the country. Then after the convention Romney goes to the effected areas, forcing Obama to change his schedule to do so as well. NOW, on the eve on the DNC, it seems that rain has tried to wash away the narcissist-in-chief's sand sculpture of himself, and they have to furiously rebuild one side of it. So, is this a sign that God hates the DNC? http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside...ay-mount-obama/ I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm, mocking Pat Robertson who always blames natural disasters on gays and devil-worshiping Haitians.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) Did someone else run against Obama? your sentence made no sense. it's not his fault.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 11:38 PM) The Daily Show has done some excellent reporting on the RNC, seriously. And if there's a contest, he's beating Stephen Colbert. Samantha Bee's piece talking to the pro-lifers was awesome. She did the same segment four years ago but it was still hilarious.

The last time there was a Republican challenging an incumbent Democrat was Dole in 1996. Here's his speech. Before that was Reagan in 1980. Here's his. Both speeches offered some policy proposals. And they referenced policy proposals that the campaigns had already laid out, which Romney really hasn't done. (side note: Reagan was positively quoting Thomas Paine in his speech. That's pretty funny.) (other side note: to tie this whole thread together on recent topics, Bob Dole was criticizing teachers unions in his speech!) (this now looks like a Badger post)
