QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Putting someone in handcuffs is a use of force? Yes, since they're being detained and removed. There's also an implied escalation of force if you resist the state's attempts to deny your civil rights. It's not like these women went to the courthouse expecting to be successful in getting a license, or King organizes sit-ins in Birmingham thinking that they'd just be able to eat at that lunch counter without a problem.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Good idea...this is a P90X thing, right? I'll have to just use that. It's a basic yoga move that's included in P90X's yoga and I think stretch routines. Get on your hands and balls of your feet and push your chest towards your feet. You can alternate which leg has the weight for additional stretching, too. I always overdo my calf muscles and this really helps.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) All you know is he went out drinking, are you against athletes getting drunk? Nobody has a problem with partying and having a good time, but come on man, we've got several years now indicating that Kane *might* have a drinking problem in that he drinks too much and he sucks at doing it on top of that.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) Speaking of workout advice, does anyone know of any good and easy to perform calf stretching stretches? My left calf is a lot tighter than my right, and it's kind of always been that way, wondering if anyone knew a safe way to stretch that out aside from the usual lean forward against a wall stretch... :/ Downward dog

I'm not trying to solve the problem of traders being stupid and losing money. If JPM wants to be an investment bank and make trades like this and they end up crashing and burning, they won't take the whole banking industry with them because commercial banking will be separate.

Oh it's typically fly somewhere and then drive up to 4 hours! I travel around to various nuclear plants so, aside from some exceptions, they're usually far away from any mid-sized or larger airport. Those travel days kill routines, too.

I'm typically out in the middle of nowhere, but they usually have a treadmill and some dumb bells. But by the time I get back from working at a site all day and eat dinner, it's probably 8PM or later and I've got to get up at 5AM.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) I dont have children so obviously I dont have the same issues at Y2, but I travel alot so I have been trying to take an hour's worth of TV out every day for to increase exercise. Its been extremely helpful. Now only if I could find out the secret to doing it in the morning. I'm terrible about exercising on the road. I always tell myself I'm going to run for a while, but it rarely happens.

2012-2013 NFL Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Arguing poster semantics is dumb, how about the topic at hand? 3-4 defense would have been great since we just drafted a pass rushing LB. Is there any thought of them using him in blitz packages from the DL spot where he may rush or drop into coverage?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) Anyone grabbing Diablo III today? Hopefully it doesn't disappoint after 10 years. I never grabbed Starcraft II, but that was the big complaint-- that it was just upgraded visuals and not worth the long wait. google #error37

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 15, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) I think this is BS too, but it's no different than me smoking a joint in front of the police station and getting arrested. The law's the law. Well that's exactly the point of non-violent civil disobedience: you are highlighting the use of force or the implied use of force by the state to enforce these laws. It's meant to create tension to make society question if this is a good and just thing to do. It was the central point of King's Letter from Birmingham Jail.

Two related and great articles coming out of ProPublica on pardons: Pardon Attorney Torpedoes Plea for Presidential Mercy (same story, different article) Clarence Aaron was sentenced to three life terms for his role in a drug deal, even though he wasn't the supplier, distributor or buyer in the deal and it was his first criminal offense; he simply put someone in contact with someone else. It's believed that he was given such a harsh sentence (worse than anyone else charged and convicted for the same deal) because he refused to testify against others. A few months ago, ProPublica and the Washington Post had published another report on the Pardons office, finding that Presidential Pardons Heavily Favor Whites (4-1). Bush commuted far less sentences than previous Presidents, and Obama has only commuted one thus far.

You'd still be compartmentalizing the damage to some extent. JPM collapsing or Chase collapsing is less bad than JPM Chase collapsing. you could even use all the same risk management and hedging language Dimon loves to justify it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) (Technically wouldn't solve the real issue on its own) It separates the highly risky, not-really-well-understood proprietary hedging done by investment banks and the boring ol' commercial banking world.

Apparently he never heard about how Sterling abused Elgin Baylor I still remember Silvy pressing him on not using Derrick as his go-to guy to close out games and his complete non-answering of the question.

Pirating is illegal and people are prosecuted where applicable. But the US can't shut down foreign-based servers (TPB is based in Sweden).
