  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) Damn well better be scared of power tools. That's why a smart person takes appropriate protective steps before using them...because they are scared. I don't wear safety shoes, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection because I'm scared or afraid.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) And that pretty much tells me everything I need to know about your stance on this issue. Guns are as dangerous as anything else - your car, a power tool, whatever. Are you afraid of your car too? Guns are significantly more dangerous than my power tools by design.
  3. I'm not afraid of guns but I'm not in favor of concealed carry and armed neighborhood watches.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) If you do the compost bin incorrectly you could end up moving the smell from your house to your yard. They have to be maintained properly, and make sure you only compost things that belong in compost. I had one my entire life growing up at my old house in Bridgeport, but it was an "in earth" version, where no bins or such were used...which can often "contain the smell" when kept improperly because they sort of "lock the juices in", where in earth varieties allow that swill/liquid to seep into the ground. They are beyond an excellent idea for people with gardens, though. My dad had one. It didn't last long before my mom made him get rid of it.

Goodwill's model is primarily about providing work opportunities and training, not being a thrift store. So it's not so much about your items being resold to needy people but the revenue those sales bring in being used to employ and train and have other community programs. For what you're talking about, the theft amounts to the same thing either way.
  9. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 09:04 AM) All teams pretty much have need at every position all the time. Just the way it is in the NFL, but if you come into a draft and go we need a LT more than anything and we are going to draft whatever LT falls to us. That is a bad way to draft. Absolutely. But if you're truly drafting the "best available player" and that happens to be a QB at your spot four years in a row...
  10. All teams draft for need at least somewhat. They trade down if the "best available talent" isn't worth it. And knowing where the holes are is going to affect your grading, even if its only subconsciously.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) Oh yeah, we get the guys who roam the alley's on garbage and recycling day for sure. I don't go out of my way for stuff, but do keep anything of value to recycle for money. We have a decent sized two car garage we can fit a lot of stuff in. Those guys are always cruising around, which is why whenever I have something like that, I just drag it to the curb and know it'll be gone before morning. We have an "amnesty" day once a year where, if you have at least five garbage stickers, you can throw away as much as you want. It's like Christmas for the scrap collectors.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) We get ones for both garbage and recycling. That is very nice. Yeah, that's how it is for my parents. They're getting a yard waste one this year, too. Since they're all the same, WM can use an automated truck. For our neighborhood, every can has to be hand-lifted.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) I do this for the money. Usually we put it towards whatever trip we do during the summer. I add that to whatever money I make from pay for click type sites and usually end up in the area of $500 annually. That way I don't have to worry about budgeting for a small trip. My friend is an electrician. Some guys make their mortgage payment by turning in copper scrap from jobs.

I wish they did it that way and gave us the big, sturdy WM roller bins as well.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) This. It is included with our sanitary fees. We have to buy garbage stickers at something like $3.50 a piece for garbage. It's a giant pain in the ass having to go to the grocery story at 10PM because you realize you're out of stickers. On the other hand, since you have to pay $3.50 a can for garbage but can put out unlimited recycling cans for free, it really does encourage people to recycle. Everyone has at least one recycling bin, some people have two or three alongside their one garbage can.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) the fourth book really is just Martin jerking off to himself. it pissed me off to the point where I haven't touched the fifth yet because I just stopped caring. The thing was getting so damn long that he had to start splitting out chapters, which is why ADWD is somewhat disjointed as well.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Catching Fire.......MEH. First half, god awful love crap (have to keep reminding myself that this book was meant for 12 year old girls more than a 30 year old man). Second half MUCH better, but the arena was really difficult to visualize. And ultimately the ending left me a little unsatisfied (knowing it's book 2 out of 3 tends to kill any suspense) Onto MockingJay.... It was kinda redundant. I didn't like most of the third book (probably the middle 3/4) but the last 10 or 15 pages were pretty awesome.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Sam's chapters become needed Jaime becomes interesting Catelyn - yeah, she get's annoying Agreed on Sansa but it gets better there too Jamie develops into one of the better characters in the series in that book imo.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Throughout the books, it is strongly suggested that Renly was at least bi-sexual He had the Rainbow Guard. I thought it was made pretty clear.

  24. Walker's Wisconsin lost more jobs than any other state in the past 12 months. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Elections/Gov...hts-for-his-job There's an astounding amount of evidence both domestically and abroad that austerity measures in the face of a widespread recession are a really, really bad idea.
