  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 25, 2007 -> 10:43 AM) Freel has been in the league (officially, he was up with the blue jays in 2001) The Reds need arms, not to stockpile aging utility players Ryan Freel is Rob Machoviak with a better OPS. Juan Castro is making 2.25 Million for being a good glove. (Don't get me started). Funny you mention stockpiling of aging utility players, the Reds have Conine, Hatteberg, Castro, and a ton of old middle relievers. 69 Million dollar payroll for the worst club in baseball. We're having the same discussions at redszone.com We don't understand either.
  2. Ok - I ask for transporation questions and my favorite team is already on a fire sale????? Lots of thoughts - - Thanks for asking, but Homer's gonna be starting in Cincy by July 4th. - You could probably have Griffey - You might be able to get Dunn, since Jerry Narron's an idiot. - I'll pass on Crede. If Encarnacion could hit, he wouldn't have been sent down. He was hit-unlucky and in pressing he started wailing away. There are times now that he's been looking better with plate discipline. - You may have any reliever named Stanton and Weathers. I don't think Wayne Krivsky has officially embraced the Twins philosophy because he's relying on too many vets. If he had the Twins philosophy, he'd be running kids out there. Thanks for the transportation info in the other thread. I like going to Sox games, but the last couple of years has been a pain to get there.
  3. Hi all - Not a Sox fan - but like to travel to watch baseball games. I have tickets for Sat. July 7th against the Twins. I'm looking for public transporation help. I usually go the Dan Ryan and park - but I've heard the Dan Ryan is a mess. I'm coming up from Indiana - without taking the Skyway over - I figure I have these options- 1 - Dan Ryan traffic is overblown - go for it. 2 - Take a Pace bus -Go Go White Sox Shuttle 3 - Take the Metra Electric from Hazel Crest to Roosevelt or to Downtown and transfer to a Red Line going south. Which one is the best option? Thanks for the info and see you at the park!
  4. Union will never allow the DH to leave - because it costs "jobs" from teams, therefore cost-subsidzing other players' salaries which drops salary levels to a point where the pension plan is affected. I wish I was making this up, but that was the theory a few years ago.

  6. I thought Hawk was nobody without Wimpy. DJ is almost Wimpy-like. I actually enjoy Hawk - he's a homer and not afraid to show it.
  7. I got to run - good to see you Sox fans - good luck the rest of the way tonight.
  8. Here's a pitcher you all probably lit up in Kansas City or Minnesota. Congrats on the win tonight. Sheesh.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) http://www.wcpo.com/news/2005/local/04/05/reds_arrest.html ? That's our boy Ryan. He can pound the Budweiser pretty well.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) There's a particular industry in Chicago which would love that trade. The Trib?
  11. Here comes the Ryan Freel for Jon Garland rumors...... To answer the above. Yes, Claussen sucks.
  12. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) Why is Rich Aurilia hitting 4th and Dunn 5th? Well, besides that lucky shot. Rich Aurilia's home/road splits last year were sick. He hits very well in the GABP band box and not so well anyplace else. We have a manager that believes in "little things" and "scrappy". Strikeouts (which Dunn is known for) isn't scrappy or a "productive out". In another words, we have no idea why Narron's in love with RA hitting fourth, We figure Aurilia's got pictures of Narron with a pony.
  13. Welcome to our world - Claussen had a great outing on Sunday. He dropped his ERA about a point.
  14. Rich Aurilia's line against RHP - .222/.260/.311/.571 He's our cleanup hitter. We should be crying. Plus he's like 4 for his last 25 since he took over 3b for an injured Edwin Encarnacion.
  15. I don't know how you guys around here do the lineups - but here they are. 16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) I wasn't sure on the lineups. Cincy has a different one every game it seems. Changed it in my preview though to reflect the starters and not the lineups. In 57 games, Narron's only had the same line-up three times. Griffey's been injured and so has EdE, but Narron plays percentages and match-ups. Welcome to National League baseball. Sorry your pitcher has to hit
  17. He had some very nice years for the Blue Jays and Orioles, hit 40 once. Never hits for average and strikes out way too much He's a nice stop-gap at 3rd - never knew why the Twins gave up on Koskie or let Cuddyer stick around and play 3rd.
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) LMFAO!!!! Seems the only 2 teams they can beat with any regularity is STL and the Reds. Thanks to the Cubs, the Reds aren't in first...... Wow - a Cubs Suck thread on a White Sox board and there is no sign of this picture??? Figured some of you would be on this.......
  19. Marte got offered to the Reds from the Pirates - you might get him back. Is Neal Cotts getting too much work again? - After watching the ALDS, ALCS & WS - well, you know the story, what bullpen?
  20. I'd probably agree with most of the assessment you have. Aboz - your starting line-up will probably see Rich Aurilia at 3rd (he rakes at home, plus he has pictures of Jerry Narron) and Scott Hatteburg at 1b. You will see Freel in the game as an occasional pinch runner/defensive substitution. If the Reds have good starting pitching and can get to Garland & Garcia and feed of their 5-6+ ERA, and our bullpen shows up, the Reds can take 2 of 3 as well. Should be a good series.
  21. CityView's gorgeous - if you can make it there half-lit after a ball game - go for it. Great place, friendly people. Spent a year in college there I think. I'd recommend the Inn-Between. Its a little bar across from the stadium. Lots of Reds fans, but not rude. The Hofenhaus is great - but its sort of away from the stadium. There are some places on the river on the Kentucky side, Mike Finks, Willie's Sports Bar, Hooters. They are all easy to get to. Jim's bar of choice is an oldie but goodie - local-type crowd. Have fun down here - thanks for the donation to the local economy.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:12 AM) Yeah I've been the one mentioning about Denorfia. I figure that since the Reds may keep Dunn, Griffey and Kearns all in the OF, a gut like Denorfia, if you offered bullpen help could be had. Freel and Wagner would be interesting though. I think Wagner needs a change of organization pretty quick, and I'd like to see what Don Cooper can do to him because he's obviously got some issues. What's Ryan defense like in CF? If he was acquired, he could pretty much replace Pods for next season as well. Don't know what we could offer you guys though. We've got plenty of SP prospects, otherwise the only other guy I could think of is Jon Garland, who'd have to waive his no trade clause. Doubt we would move B-Mac, who you guys would probably like. Brandon McCarthy might find himself in a situation where he'd get tossed right into a #3/4 starter where every 5th day, he'd get the ball. But with Garcia's ERA increasing, and isn't Garland an FA-to-be anyway, I think the Sox would have to be overwhelmed to get rid of Mac. I think a Wagner has tremendous upside, but the 10 cent head will keep him from being a millionaire. He could pull a Cliff Politte-type pitcher, and he has closer stuff, but no mentality.
  23. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) So I guess its better to wait and see than overpay now? Scalper laws are wierd in Cincy - you can't buy them on the grounds - your best bet is to show up and cross the main street over into downtown if you want to scalp. UD seats, while not the "prime seats" isn't a bad deal - and the views of the entire stadium are quite nice. It doesn't have the "steep" look of the Cell. I went to the Sox/Sox series in July last year and felt I was way up there in Sec. 514. I don't think that the Reds seats seem that high. Friday's family night in Cincinnati. Lotsa kids and parents that night. Great for rears in seats & ice cream vendors. Bad for Beer sales. You've been warned.
