I would hope that Jacques wouldn't get a hit. -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) i was making lunch when Quentin hit that. I could tell by the sound of the bat that he jacked that, but it looked like he hit it straight up and it carried. Holy sh*t did he hit that hard Make sure to save a little for Uribe. -

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Gotta love the two big OBP guys we brought in swinging and missing. Because they're supposed to get on base every at-bat. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) You have a history of criticizing every player on the White Sox. Give me a break. We're 11 innings into the season. There's a difference between optimism and realism. This is a case of the latter. -
QUOTE(joeynach @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) I emailed comcast sports net today about the issue here is their response, basically we were correct. Thanks for contacting us. Today's White Sox game was produced in HD. However, transmission problems from Progressive Field in Cleveland posed technical problems for us and we weren't able to transmit the game back to Chicago in HD. We were able to deliver the game in enhanced widescreen. We apologize for this occurrence and we expect to have this issue resolved for our next road HD telecast on Thursday. So they transmitted 480P to us today, called EDTV (Enhanced Defintion). I was wondering what EDTV was since I had seen it talked about but never broadcast. And now i see, it blows. Im happy to hear today was just a technical issue and they will be back to normal HD by thursday, 720P i think CSN uses. Off topic but does anyone one know who broadcasts what HD format. I believe Fox, ESPN, and ABC use 720P b/c it renders fast motion more effectively (sports, nascar, etc). And stations like TNT, HBO, History, Discovery, etc use 1080I b/c it represents a greater resolution and more still motion (movies, tv series, etc). ABC and the rest of the Disney family (i.e. ESPN), as well as FOX, broadcast in 720p, because of the reduced motion blur when it comes to sporting events, as you mentioned. The rest of the broadcast networks (CBS, NBC, and PBS in most places [not Chicago]), as well as a majority of the cable stations broadcast in 1080i, prefering the higher resolution over any perceived motion blur.

QUOTE(The Beast @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Just out of curiosity, was there selective enforcement about the rule anywhere else in today's game? The Bake slide. Unless OCab was standing directly on/behind the bag (which he wasn't), there was no legit reason to absolutely cream him on his way into second.

Any chance the clock on the server could be fixed? It's about 20 minutes fast, and I keep freaking out when I read times on people's posts becuase I think I'm late for something.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) You can't physically reach out and try and grab someone... that is exactly what cabrera did. That is not how you take out a fielder at 2B, and the umpire was right to call interferance. You take out a fielder at 2b by sliding into them, not attempting to grab and possibly trip them. It was a bad play by Cabrera, that's pretty much it. Technically, you're not allowed to intentionally take out anyone, regardless of whether you use your legs or arms. Whether or not it's more "acceptable" to use your legs instead shouldn't be the issue -- if you're going to allow someone to take out a fielder using their legs, you can't call them for using their arms. The rules don't make that distinction. Either call it all the time, or get rid of the rule. Selective enforcement is what everyone is pissed off about in this case.

Rule 7.08(B) Comment: A runner who is adjudged to have hindered a fielder who is attempting to make a play on a batted ball is out whether it was intentional or not. If, however, the runner has contact with a legally occupied base when he hinders the fielder, he shall not be called out unless, in the umpire’s judgment, such hindrance, whether it occurs on fair or foul territory, is intentional. If the umpire declares the hindrance intentional, the following penalty shall apply: With less than two out, the umpire shall declare both the runner and batter out. With two out, the umpire shall declare the batter out.

This game should be 10-7. -
Hawk just mentioned that they're broadcasting in 480p today because of technical problems, but they should be in 720p 1080i on Wednesday. My guess is the weather is interfering with the backhaul.

As much as I know the Sox aren't going to win this game, a part of me always refuses to give up after I left that game early a few years ago where the Sox almost came back from 9-1 in the bottom of the 9th. But with OCab making hacks like that, I'm not holding out THAT much hope. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Yep, when this season is over, we're going to look back at tonight as the turning point of the season. That has so much sarcasm dripping from it that it looks like Freddy used it to wipe off. If you want to turn the season around at all, not even to get back in contention, but at least to just finish with a winning record, you have to start somewhere. The Sox have started to make it happen of late, but this is the kind of blow that's absolutely demoralizing.

No way Sox recover from this loss. What a great way to send off Buehrle.

Can we save some of these for tomorrow?

So... when do I actually get to watch the games
linglingfool replied to bkmoney's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Like I told bkmoney earlier, I called Insight, and some of their CSRs seemed to think it was blacked out. Which makes no sense, because Red was plugging it every 5 minutes during the Bulls game. If you're not going to show it, at least let those of us paying the $120/yr for mlb.tv WATCH the game, not just listen.
