No problem. I figured everyone could get a good laugh out of it.

By this article, it doesn't look like the mystery player is Grilli: Grilli all but seals roster spot By Bob Foltman Tribune staff reporter March 27, 2004, 10:39 PM CST TUCSON, Ariz. -- Jason Grilli probably wrapped up a spot on the White Sox's pitching staff Saturday with a three-inning outing in a minor-league game. While the rest of the Sox were facing the Texas Rangers in Surprise, Ariz., Grilli struck out four and didn't allow a hit. Grilli will take the long-man role in the bullpen as well as be a spot starter. The Sox acquired Grilli over the winter from the Marlins. He was a Rule 5 selection, so if he doesn't make the 25-man roster he has to be offered back to Florida. Grilli thought he would be pitching at 9:30 a.m. He was in uniform and ready to go when he found out he was to pitch in the afternoon. … Even though the Sox acquired Timo Perez, that doesn't mean they have soured on Jeremy Reed. General manager Ken Williams said earlier in the spring that if something happened to center fielder Aaron Rowand, he would have no problem using Reed. "I think Jeremy is ready. In terms of his baseball ability, there is no question he's going to be a big leaguer," Williams said. … Williams all but made it official Saturday—Ross Gload has made the team. "I love Ross Gload and what he brings to the table," he said. "It's not official, but that's where I'm leaning now." … Billy Koch is the closer, but manager Ozzie Guillen said left-hander Damaso Marte will get his chances as well. "If there are two lefties coming up, Marte is going to be the closer," Guillen said. "It'll depend on the situation, but the man we're going to lean to is Koch." Copyright © 2004, The Chicago Tribune

I think everyone remembered Sox fans reaction to Game 6 of the NLCS last year when the Marlins scored 8 in the 8th inning to beat the Scrubbies. But this link is from a Cubs message board. Watching their reactions go from cocky to devastated was absolutely priceless. The page is set to the 8th inning when the Cubs were up 3-0, and Juan Pierre just doubled. Then one Luis Castillo came to bat......... Game 6 NLCS page Then, there was the 7th and deciding game with Kerry Wood on the mound. This page is set after Alou homered, and the Marlins decided to get their bullpen going. The man in the bullpen.........Josh Beckett. I wondered what happened after that..... Game 7 NLCS page

I was listening to the Me and Z show on the Score (very funny show, BTW) and they were discussing this with Joe Cowley from the Daily Southtown. They said it could be a case of KW trying to light a fire under someone's hiney. Or possibly another trade going down. I don't think it was meant as direct criticism towards any of the players.
-
I didn't, but the reason why I ask is because apparently, Sosa tried to catch a ball in the outfield and it bounced off his head. That would've been priceless to see.

That same type of s*** used to go down on the Bears message board too. They would troll and spam that site to no end. Then when good posters would complain about it, the mod would ban them. That's why I left and headed for NFL-Fans. Any troll tries that s*** over there and they get banned on the spot. Now the Bears board is down, and all of those other posters are at NFL-Fans. And we all lead a peaceful and happy existence.............. Until a Packer fan starts talking smack. THEN IT'S ON!

Saw this on Rotoworld, and I'm not happy with it: So if Perez is useful as a reserve, that's bad news for the Sox? How? And they're happy to see Ginter out of Chicago? Who the f*** writes for them: Jay Mariotti?
-
Apparently, he'll be the 4th OF, and just be a backup option just in case. Rowand has earned this chance and they need to stick with him this time around.
-
Perez will be used as the 4th outfielder, and also will provide another speed option for the Sox.
-
I just heard this on ESPN Radio 1000, and the details are somewhat sketchy, but I think I heard Bruce Levine say the Sox traded Matt Ginter to the Mets in return for Timo Perez. I'm not sure if anyone else was involved in the trade, but it looks like this trade has been completed. More details to come.

Just stick the knife a little deeper in our backs, why don't ya?

Duke took away the perimeter game. Neither Deron, Dee or Luther had too many open looks. You just gotta credit Duke for playing strong zone D. They knew if the Illini tried to beat them inside, Deng and Co. would stuff them. And they did. The Illini are gonna need a Marcus Griffin/Sergio McClain type player to contend next year. Augustine isn't big enough, Powell doesn't have the height, and Nick Smith needs to put on 45 f***ing pounds.
-
Damn, Bruce Weber said Dee Brown has played a good portion of the season with a stress fracture. And he's played through it. Way to go, Dee! You'll be better for it next year.
-
The only thing Deron Williams did that I didn't like were the stop and pull up jumpers that didn't fall. Those aren't his shots and he tried way too many. Coach K kept sending Deng out to the perimeter to help out the guards and that took away any outside game the Illini had. This wasn't a freaking blowout. Duke just had strength in numbers. And if you want to talk about a person that didn't do s***, it was Nick Smith. QUIT TAKING 25 FOOT JUMPERS!!!! :banghead

Some dickweed reporter just asked JJ Redick "Your defense made the Illini look horrible". JJ Redick countered with "They didn't look so horrible to me". Dickhead reporters. :fyou

Kicking a guy when he's down. You shameful bastard, you.

Per ESPN Radio 1000, Dan Wright is on the hill today. Still 2-0 Sox. On a side note, Gary Glover started for the Northsiders against the Rangers, and are currently losing 5-0 in the 3rd inning.
-
I don't think either the Sox or the Rockies are broadcasting the game today.

Burke battles for final Sox spot By Bob Foltman Tribune staff reporter March 25, 2004, 8:49 PM CST TUCSON, Ariz. -- Jamie Burke had a tough decision to make earlier in the week—where to ship his car. Does he ship to Chicago or Charlotte? In contention for the last roster spot on the White Sox, Burke may not know the answer until camp breaks. Making matters more complicated is that the regular players are getting more playing time, cutting into Burke's at-bats and innings. "I enjoy this competition," Burke said. "It makes it more challenging." Burke started Thursday and had four plate appearances against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He went 0-for-2 and is hitting .261 this spring. He said the lack of at-bats is something he will have to get used to if he makes the team. "I may get one at-bat every four or five days [as a reserve]," Burke said. The final spot appears to be a battle between Burke and infielder Kelly Dransfeldt, with a lot hinging on whether the Sox carry 11 or 12 pitchers. It's likely they'll carry 12, leaving one extra spot after Sandy Alomar Jr., Juan Uribe and Ross Gload as reserves. Dransfeldt, a Joliet native, is making a late push with a pair of hits Thursday and an RBI. He also has six hits in his last eight at-bats and is batting .410. If Burke has an advantage, it's that he catches in addition to playing third and first base. "It's a big advantage," Burke said. "Catchers stick around this game a long time." Burke, 32, has stuck around a while, but not at the major-league level. A ninth-round Anaheim selection in 1993, Burke has only 15 games in 76 days in the big leagues. In six games last season with the Sox, Burke was 3-for-8 with a pair of RBIs. In 2001, he went 1-for-5 in nine appearances with the Angels. Copyright © 2004, The Chicago Tribune

Now if he can only "rap" out some hits, we'll be all set.

From Rotoworld: Refresh my memory, but wasn't this the same guy that threw 16 straight balls in his ML Debut vs. the Sox?
