  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 05:05 PM) I'm sorry to interject, but rating a president while they're still in office is f***ing stupid. So stop. That's the part of this sequence of posts that you decide to call out as stupid?
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) And the Cardinals disagreed with that price. Yes they did; that certainly doesn't mean they didn't think highly of him.
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) You brought up Wacha and Martinez to I guess show Ramirez's value. No, I brought them up to show the supposed asking price by Hahn was quite high.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 10:20 AM) Matters not, per Heyman the Cardinals never offered Martinez for Ramirez. Hah! Your argument was that the Cardinals didn't think highly of Alexei. Nothing you have said (or actually know) can back that up. The fact that they were rumored to be interested in trading for him would belie your statement.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) Carlos Martinez wasn't thought very highly of (on this board) when the rumor appeared. What does our opinion of him matter? We weren't the ones negotiating the trade.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) Did you see Kozma? That has nothing to do with the statement you made which I took issue with. All we know is that the rumored asking price was one or more players that showed some dynamic stuff in the Postseason. To say that that results in the conclusion that the Cardinals didn't think much of Alexei is simply wrong.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) At the end of the day, the Cardinals stuck with Peter Kozma. Did you see Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez in the postseason?
  8. John Fox to have heart valve replacement surgery...will miss several weeks.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 07:23 AM) Sure it is. Oh? So what were the various proposals passed back and forth?
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) Teams like the Cardinals didn't think much of Ramirez at the deadline. That's not an informed opinion.
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) You're right the Beckham talk provides cover for Ramirez who is the bigger problem. He's owed $20M, you're not going to win anything with him and he has less trade value than Beckham. I think you're wrong.
  12. Actually used that Find My Phone app that Apple has...pretty neat. Was able to find my phone in my yard using the signal overlayed onto a satellite image of our yard. Must have fallen out when I was warding off my idiot dogs or something.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) While part of the calculation, you are claiming that publicly traded insurance companies are artificially lowering their profit margins by paying out to executives...and again, no, that's just not the case. Investors wouldn't accept that, as it's their money, and they have the collective power, not some CEO inflating his salary to "hide profits". That's just laughable. They certainly do this, except they often do it in the form of LTIPs containing tens or hundreds of thousands of shares of stock.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 07:43 AM) Giving this a try http://www.hellonomad.com/products/chargekey-iphone5 Oh, that is cool.
  15. Hahn has made it pretty clear that we're looking to add through trades now, rather than FA.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 06:30 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/30/us/new-york-....html?hpt=hp_c4 Banksy is awesome Thanks a lot, Kyle...I just got lost reading about this guy for like an hour...
  17. David Freese and Jay Cutler share a bit of a resemblance.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 03:54 PM) Yea he tried to do the same, but actually did hear from them. Multiple times. There was a time they were serious about taking these to court, but that faded away a few years after, when they started losing these suits. But at that time, court was going to happen. From what I recall, in 2004 or so, an Illinois appellate court ruled that possessing certain equipment, such as card readers, was not a per se violation of whatever law they claimed you were in violation of. That shut down most of the litigation, however, they continued to make threats. I remember they gave me the option of paying $3k to settle, or they would seek 10 times that in court.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) Friend got busted for this when one if the card writer sellers was raided, they got his information, and DTV threatened to sue unless he settled out of court for 3k. Hiring a lawyer to fight the case all told would have been more, so he relented and paid it. Kind of like using the court system to hold people ransom. Yep, I got the same letter. I told them to get bent. Never heard from them about it again.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) a friend of mine did that for me, but they zapped the cards and he wasnt able to fix it again. Yeah, they would only work for a few hours to a few weeks at which point you'd have to go online and find the new code to zap into your card reader to reprogram your access card. It was a pain in the butt to keep up with, but probably better than paying for it
  21. I was all about hacking DirecTV access cards so we could get all the channels, including the porn channels and NFL Sunday ticket. That was quite the cat and mouse game back then.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Depends. If they think he will be better, but it is 2016 when it might happen, that could change their opinion. True. Point is, they don't believe he will give them, in this window, what perhaps Quintana could.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 01:50 PM) Sanchez was in A+ ball last year . He would not nor might never be Quintana's replacement. If he was ML ready there's no need to try to get pitching yet thats what the BJ's want despite having 2 top 50/100 pitching prospects. If they're seriously considering a big push for 2014 they don't seem to want to wait for those guys to develop. Ding Ding. People need to realize that the Blue Jays wouldn't trade Sanchez if they were convinced he was going to be Quintana or better. It would make no sense. The Blue Jays have a few years here where they have a pretty solid core locked up and think they can compete. They are willing to try and add pieces for that window using some of their prospects.
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) I hope you all realize the entire last 4 pages or so happened because a few people decided to s*** on me for no reason for saying I thought the IR blaster in my phone was cool. Never said my phone invented the technology, never said it is the only phone to do it, and never said a damn thing about iPhones not being able to do it (which I had no idea if they could or couldn't, because I couldn't care less either way). Just said I thought it was cool. Basically what I've learned here is I need to be super jaded about technology and not be impressed by anything, because god forbid someone else has used this technology before me, I will be criticized for being out of date and easily impressed and thought of as a kid. Duly noted. What?? You are the one that is super jaded and Debbie Downer because you are on some ridiculous crusade against Apple. Now, after like 3 years of feigning boredom with anything Apple, you start celebrating these silly things like the ability to control a projector in your college auditorium. And you expect no one to throw a few barbs at you for that? That is something we did in like 4th grade to the substitute teacher. When you're in college you should be using your phone to hack into the database and change your grades or use it to film girls in the sorority house showering or something.
