  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 12:14 PM) Phones can do THAT now too? Only Android phones.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) This was the most interesting line in the story. I've yet to see this said anywhere else. It was also written that they are willing to move their payroll to $150 million or something. Maybe you end up ditching Danks' contract and give them Beckham for something reasonable, perhaps Lawrie, perhaps some prospect. I really don't know how high they remain on Lawrie.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) You do know that I was just busting your balls right? Yes, except for the fact that it then spawned an actual discussion about this...
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) If nothing else, Lawrie has 2 years less experience and it will cost less to have him fail. Yeah, for sure. If they have such a hard-on for GB though, I'd rather try to get a piece out of them that hasn't failed yet.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) You're right, I just think Lawrie hasn't burnt out yet. He's how I felt about Beckham two years ago, haha. But maybe Jays fans feel the same about Lawrie. Watching guys rot in front of your eyes gets old. No, I get it...I think the odds of Lawrie reaching his potential are probably better than Gordon's. The longer they fail to, the more unlikely they actually pan out.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) Beckham can retire, as far as I'm concerned. He's a stopgap at this point. It's always possible he'll break out, but it's always possible ANYONE will break out. That doesn't mean you make sacrifices to hold your breath. I'd send all three of them for Lawrie and not think twice. Santiago is the only one with substantial value, IMO. I don't disagree, but just curious as to why you would be so confident in Lawrie and so certain that Beckham won't ever come close to meeting his potential? I get it that Beckham has sucked for 4 years now, but Lawrie seems to be going down the same path...
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) It's quite easy to ignore the posts you don't understand or care about. I don't see anything wrong with delving deeper into the subject. If you want, there's always the option of splitting this into two threads. Oh I do ignore a lot of the posts...and I also take a few playful jabs at some of you guys for being such phone geeks...you respond by saying I am being condescending or that I am jealous that my iPhone can't turn on someone else's projector or something... It's no big deal...just explaining why it is that I was jabbing at some of you in the first place.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) Didn't he just quit for health problems? No, I think he quit because he couldn't get buy-in from the organization...
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 08:13 AM) Just responding to shack's condescending comments. Apparently, I'm not 'normal' and neither are most people in this thread. Now you're taking my comments out of context. I'll say this...you make a fair point about this being a technology thread. However, I come to this thread mostly to see links about various products in the marketplace. I also enjoy hearing peoples' comments and reviews about these various products. At some point, this thread devolved into a pissing match between Apple and Android products, which has, in turn, devolved into a who has the biggest dick contest relative to technology know-how. I certainly respect that some of you have technology backgrounds and I never meant to disparage any of you for that. However, I will say that, in general, most technology consumers don't have the slightest clue (nor do they care) about many of the nuanced discussions about technology features present here. That doesn't make your discussions worthless by any measure, however, it does drastically reduce the size of their audience to those folks who have a career in technology or to those folks who have an extensive knowledge of technology. IMHO, that was NOT what this thread was intended to be, nor why it was started.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 06:50 AM) He should be figuring out ways to get chicks with his phone? s***, that's easy, just take dick pics "I call this one 'The Majestic Swan.'" Hah, I know you're joking, but I'll make myself clear. Normal people don't give this much of a s*** about phones.
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 05:31 PM) I still love the classroom, which is why I went back. And after my M.A. I will either audit classes or find a PhD program that works within my schedule. I enjoyed it as well, at least certain parts about it, but I've found that working in a fairly large company offers similar opportunities...lots of meetings to work through complex problems. That is probably what I enjoyed most about law school and what I enjoy most about my work now. Obviously we all miss being able to walk over to your neighbor on a random Tuesday and say "let's organize a beer pong tournament today and then waddle over to the bars afterwards!" But then again, I live in Vegas, so I can still do that
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) lol when was the last time anyone picked up a chick because of a smartphone? I'm anxiously waiting to hear about how your iPhone has gotten you laid at least 15 times. Ugh, that is the point, my young padawan...
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) What a first game for Rose. *shakes head* I just don't know if I can enjoy a league where the refs decide games las often as nba refs do.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:20 PM) You can't do it to other TVs that isn't connected to whatever system you have in your house though. The IR blaster is a really cool thing to have. Oh for certain! I'm sure you get ALL the chicks with it...
  15. Every possession results in a foul or a wide open shot
  16. Ok, everything is a foul on us. They're in a 34-11 run.
  17. Ugh...not much point in keeping these guys on the bench if we're going to lose by 35 saving them for the second half.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:26 AM) I understand the politics behind hitting a woman and that it is a terribly disgusting act, but Meriweather is intentionally trying to shorten the already short working career of NFL players while inflicting bodily harm against these men. I find that worse. This isn't a fist fight, but rather trying to actively worsen the overall livelihood of these people. He's a punk ass POS who needs to be removed from playing football all together. Greg Williams was suspended indefinitely for his role in head hunting or whatever, intentionally trying to hurt people. How do you not suspend Meriweather the same amount given the precedent? +1
  19. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Yup, if we have to compare to that early 90's era, it feels more like we're the Knicks and the Heat are the Bulls I don't agree with these comparisons...last year, for sure. This year, not so much. Those Bulls teams weren't exactly blessed with huge talent outside of Jordan and Pippen. Not that those aren't two huge pieces, but Rose/Deng/Butler/Boozer/Noah is not the Knicks or the Pistons...that is a legit 5 that shouldn't be reliant on one player or one or two players and a bunch of role players. That is much more similar to the second Bulls core, with the exception that Rose is not Michael Jordan.
  20. Dude owns a 16,000 sq ft house in Scottsdale...he's retiring!
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) That Pistons team had a 27 year old Joe Dumars, a 29 year old Isiah Thomas, a 29 year old Dennis Rodman, a 31 year old Mark Aguirre, and a 33 year old Bill Laimbeer (among others). The Heat have a 29 year old LeBron, a 29 year old Bosh, and a 32 year old Wade (let alone the age of guys like Allen, Anderson, and Battier). Cole, Chalmers, Beasley, and Oden (allegedly) are the only other players on their roster under the age of 30. You are going to try and convince me that that team isn't getting old? Your Nets are even older than that. It would be nice if Thibs would limit their minutes over the course of the season, but the only players OVER the age of 30 on the Bulls are Carlos Boozer, Mike Dunleavy, Kirk Hinrich, Mike James, and Nazr Mohammad. Other than Booz, you aren't counting on any of those guys for more than 15-20 minutes a night, and that's in the most extreme of circumstances. Those Pistons/Bulls series were all-out wars, too...they make these Heat-Bulls series seem like practices...which probably exposed the Pistons' age a bit more than will be the case with the Heat.
