  1. QUOTE (Baron @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) Right...I mean you have some guys hitting average. But then just massive holes follow those guys. Hard to win with that. But they have been Especially considering Moore's been struggling so much.
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Well, in their defense, they don't have to play us all of the time. They get to feast on those AL East teams more often than not! Yes!!
  3. Balta, I know what your response will be, but our offense seems so much more well-rounded with ODawg in that 9th spot...
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) This Rays lineup is really bad. Its a miracle they got where they are so far. I really have no idea
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) just a horrible series by Paulie so far I know people have been joking, but he's looked like poop
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) In all seriousness, if the Sox win this game and Konerko goes hitless tonight, do you give him the off day before the off day so he gets two days off? I think I would. Not unless it's a tough matchup for him, which it shouldn't be
  7. Hawk is having multiples these days in the booth...
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) Santiago/Ohman should start warming up in case Humber gets in trouble Jones as well
  9. This is payback for all the bs we've been through in the last 15 months
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ May 29, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) I'd venture to guess that we will win this game. Shhhh
  11. I thought the reason it was controversial was because he expected us to resign him but wouldn't provide us with any access to his medical records...
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 29, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) Did you guys know that LL Cool J is performing June 2nd? Rowand and I are attending
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 29, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) Ask him how they will finish 4th. He does realize that Kansas City and Minnesota are awful right? You don't somehow have a garbage team when you have the 2nd best run differential in the AL after 48 games. That just doesn't come out of thin air, you have to be doing something right. The Sox are 4th in the AL in runs per game and tied with the Yankees. Yeah, the Yankees. They're 5th in team OPS. They have the 5th best ERA+ and they're 6th in runs allowed. The Cubs? They're averaging a whole run less than the Sox on offense, good for 3rd to last in the NL. Their team ERA+ is the 4th worst in the NL. So you have one team that's in the upper third of almost every offensive/pitching category in the stronger league and then you have another that's in the lower 4th of everything in the weaker league. Ask him to enlighten you how both teams are somehow in the same garbage echelon. Please tell him to do some research before he speaks again. The only thing I don't like about throwing all these numbers around is that they were profoundly influenced by the last 10 games or so. Certainly everyone's numbers have been influenced in that way, save, say the Rangers, who have probably been the most consistent team in the AL, but I think we need to see a bigger sample size before we start focusing too much on all of this. If we are indeed the favorite to win the division, it is because our division sucks, first and foremost. Secondly, it's because the Tigers have drastically underperformed to this point in the season. However, despite the fact that that could indeed last all season long (see 2011 White Sox), I think we need to expect them to start winning more ballgames. Let's get the starting pitching straightened out a bit, continue to win games at home, and continue to win series'. If we do that, everything else will take care of itself.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:04 AM) jenks smells blood in the water This made me literally laugh out loud at work...everyone looked at me
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 10:26 PM) Sorry, I figured the last line of the 2nd paragraph was good enough to let you guys figure that out for yourselves. I guess I am just accustomed to reading Wite's tales...sorry...
  16. I'm not surprised by the batting average, but the slugging percentage is nuts...it's like PK is inventing hitting all over again...unbelievable.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) Right now, both Ventura and Guillen are contenders for manager of the year in their leagues. Both should be proud. Guillen is a proven leader whose team is kicking ass and in contention. Ventura was doing nothing in baseball last year, but obviously has a feel for the game and currently a better feel than Ozzie for how much rest a player needs. Ozzie's Sunday lineups were not conducive to winning. Other than that, he was/is quite outstanding. Both deserve a grade of A at this present time. I hope it's a Sox-Marlins WS. Hopefully the AL wins the all-star game. Homefield advantage is HUGE in the WS. Yeah, it's a good thing Robin has eradicated those Sunday lineups.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Har Har So I went to my buddy Jason's house right after work on Saturday and for the purpose of the story you need to know that his gf's name is Meaghann. Anywho, I get over there and he tells me that he needs to go to Meaghann's for a little bit cause she has a friend in town that she wants Jason to meet. So obviously my first two questions were "Is she hot?" "Is she single?" He tells me that he never met her so he doesn't know if she's hot but no she's not single, she has a boyfriend. So I end up meeting her later in the day, and pretty cute so just got to get around the whole boyfriend thing. A few hours later at the bar, she's just all over me and Jason comes up to me and goes "so she just told Meaghann that she really likes you and was looking for a reason to break up with her boyfriend." So I took her home. I'm pretty awesome. I also spent $400 on booze this weekend. Seriously awesome. You never mentioned if you drilled her or not.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2012 -> 08:34 PM) Excuse me. It seems I somehow misspelled controlled in the thread title. Can somebody please eradicate that? It just doesn't look right. We all can't be as perfect as Kalapse. Did you seriously ask someone to "eradicate" your misspelling? Aww, J4L...I love you man...
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) He started yesterday and threw 5 innings of 2 run ball. Ahh, good to see he is back...
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) Balta, he got traded. Glad I could help. Yes! What a steal that was...Zach Stewart is contributing valuable innings while THAT guy sits on the DL! Neener neener!
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) Marty, you're going to have to lie back and wait in the weeds to strike again. Not even bringing up Molina's struggles are going to help your cause when they're on a blistering 14-5 run and Chris Sale's (for now, while healthy) drawing comparisons to Randy Johnson, and doing it more successfully at a younger age. I don't know why you keep alluding to the 14-5...they've won 10 of 11...sounds better to me
