Seems like the Heat were almost willing to concede this game early in the second half. Pretty lame effort thus far.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Man, Dunn ripped that ball to the point that the cameraman couldn't follow it, and it still got caught. I think he caught it on the seam, too. That baby was knuckling.

Seriously, wtf Alexei. He's making me sick.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) He's back on the bench. I didn't see the play, did you think it was deliberate? Well Rondo was digging his forearm into the back of Wade's neck, and they were sort of battling for position. Then Wade seemed to lose his balance and when he realized he was falling, he put his leg behind Rondo's and used leverage to slam him down. Rondo tried to brace himself with his left arm and it hyperextended. It looked pretty gruesome, but it is a testament to the human body that bones can bend like that without snapping. Many times these hyperextensions look very serious, and then don't turn out to be.

Wade just took Rondo down and I think Rondo's arm is seriously f***ed...

Sox (11-21) vs Mariners (15-17) 5/6 @ 9:10 CSN

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Actually, after taking a whole 30 seconds to think about it, it's really an easy decision, put Edwin in the pen when Jake comes back. That being said, I'm sure that wont happen. I don't think that is an easy decision whatsoever. -
This is our best shot, Atlanta. Now you know.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 6, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) in other words, that they own IP on design and if you take that away it's a big deal. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with patent law.

Kiss of Death? KW denies coach firings are imminent
iamshack replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't even believe this season is really happening. I haven't been able to see much baseball this year due to us being short at work and taking care of my pup...It'll probably start setting in over the next few weeks as I finally get a chance to see some games. Maybe they'll reel off 10 straight or something and erase this horrible, horrible first month. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) I would go as far as to say that the Marlins will LIKELY trade Johnson. Johnson is signed through 2013 and they will be getting a new stadium next year. Hard to fathom they would trade one of the best young pitchers in baseball while trying to build a season ticket base for their new stadium.

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) If the Sox are serious about Reyes then I don't think you trade for him this year, wait until the offseason and try to sign him. However for that to happen KW is going to have to unload 1-2 hefty contracts. I still think if Peavy comes back and pitches decently, the Yankees could be a possibility for his services. We wouldn't get much if anything back (cash or lower level prospect) but getting rid of that $33 mil over the next 2 years may be worth it. They're not....no room in the payroll and Alexei is our ss of the future at this point.
-
My guess is Alderson will trade Bay with one of Reyes or Wright, which will lower the price in terms of talent, but get some more money off their books for 2012 and 2013.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Sale and beckham for Reyes is probably the kind of price it would take and the Sox would be insane to offer it I'm not sure that would even get it done...I don't know that Sale has shown me enough to take the risk on Beckham, if I am the Cubs...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) I don't think either of the last 2 apply to Castro From what Fathom says, sounds more like Michael Youngish...high average, decent pop, a bit shaky witht the leather...

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Would the Rays trade Longoria? Would the Rockies trade Tulo? Would the Marlins or Dodgers trade Johnson or Kershaw? That's what I meant. I'm giving love to Castro and hating on our pathetic roster at the same time. No team is going to trade an established star player like one of those guys for an unestablished "stud" like Castro unless there are some kind of financial issues. I see the talent you guys are talking about, but I think you're still getting a bit ahead of yourselves here.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) I've seen some scouts project Castro as a .320 type hitter, 20 homers a year. Not superstar caliber, but definitely one of the top 5 SS in the game. And if he hits 20 homers for more than 1 or 2 seasons, I will grant him elite status. I don't see it happening outside of maybe 1 or 2 seasons. But he's only 21, so no one can really say with any degree of certainty at this point.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) I'm not just talking about defense. I can't speak for Crawford really...but I think Ben, now that he's got the big contract, would accept a well-defined role if he felt it was for the good of the team and that team had a chance to win a championship.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) I remember he had 1 lob at the buzzer at the end of the first. I think probably 10-15% of his 3's are at the end of quarters or bailouts to beat the 24 second clock.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) I don't think there was much developing to do with Castro. I think he's naturally talented, even the Pirates couldn't screw him up. Castro is talented, but elite? He's going to hit for a high average but not for above average power, and while he has some speed he hasn't been much of a base stealer yet. I don't see him being anywhere near Tulo or Hanley.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) Thibs would throw Jamal Crawford or Ben Gordon off the team after the 1st practice. We definitely could use another creator but no thanks on those two. Anyways, looking big picture, still really unimpressed with the Bulls performance last night. I disagree. Pierce and Allen weren't quite defensive stalwarts previous to Thibs getting them to buy into that system on the Celtics, and he got them on board. I feel like he could convince anyone at this point, given the team the Bulls have right now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) You do realize that McCarthy has a 3.05 ERA this year so far right? His problem was never suckitude. It was always going to be health from day 1. He stays healthy and he can get people out. He hasn't stayed healthy since we traded him. He's going to be the benefactor of a great ballpark to pitch in and a chance to learn some things from some great pitchers. I'm following him pretty closely this year.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 4, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) It's the freckles, pale skin, and I think every image of her I have on The Killing that leaves me completely unattracted to her. So yeah, I guess I probably don't like natural redheads, but it's usually because of the skin and freckles they have, not the hair color. They are certainly not for everyone, that's for sure. They are for me...

QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 4, 2011 -> 11:10 PM) I'll be there for Game 3! The Hawks are doing a "white-out" so I'll definitely be wearing my red. You should be easy to spot then! Have fun and bring us home a winner!

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 4, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Or he could stop shooting so many threes, his lowest percentage shot. I want Rose to score as much as possible and to take good shots. At this point, a three pointer is not a good shot for him. In fact, it's pretty much giving up the offensive possession for nothing and giving the Hawks a nice head start on their offensive possession. It ruins the flow of our offensive game and puts us in a hole defensively every time he clunks one. The worst part is that these are usually open shots. His three point shooting is a legitimate issue that needs to be limited, if not stopped. Teams are sagging off of him daring him to shoot it right now and it's working wonderfully for the opposition. I know Derrick's trying to exploit that and maybe trying to prove them wrong, but when your shot's not on, it's not on. Pick another day when it's on to shoot 8 threes. Yeah, I think we're all admitting that. Not one person challenging your characterization of his evening is saying Rose should have hoisted that many three point shots. What we are arguing is that those poor shots don't negate a 25/10/6 performance to "horrible." I'm not sure how these efficiency statistics work, but it seems as though they are measuring performance much the same way that they do in baseball, where your offensive chances are roughly equal to the rest of the players on the team and your defensive opportunities are for the most part random. It seems to me that since your opportunities in basketball are as much defined by your other teammates as the defense, that the accuracy of these statistics would be called into question. Are these efficiency statistics weighted to reflect the skill level of the other players on your team? Is there any way they can possibly measure the contributions your inefficient attempts contribute to the rest of your performance or the performance of your teammates? Is there any correlation between Rose's attempts and the efficiency of the rest of the Bulls players?
