  1. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) LBJ and Joe Johnson with the NYK roster isn't all that great IMO. If he signs with the Bulls, trying not to be biased here, LBJ, Rose, Noah and the rest are a better team, and the Bulls could add Joe Johnson or another guy of Lebron's choosing. The most intriguing news I've heard is the gambling site that drastically shifted its odds that quickly, that doesn't seem like a reaction to just money coming in, but something they may have heard Oh, I was just stating that New York courting (no pun intended) Joe Johnson may not be some sort of sign of concession by them... I know there is a salary cap is basketball and all, so this is different, but I can't help but feel a bit like the New York Yankees right now...
  2. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Not sure if it's been mentioned, but apparently the Knicks are planning on offering Joe Johnson a max contract, seems like a lot can be read into that. I actually heard today on espn radio that there are plenty of people who believe LeBron would be very open to playing with Johnson.
  3. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) I am so sorry to say this and I really mean no offense by it, but to me, those just scream "DOUCHE BAG"!!! .. ...I mean, I know you couldn't possibly be a douche because you're a true blood fan ...and only people that are completely awesome in every way, like true blood!! ..BUT those shoes are more feminine than I would like MY man to wear!! That's all I was sayin'! If you like them and think Leather is for Jesus, awesome!! LOL ...perhaps that's why girls are more likely to bow down to a guy in Leather flippy floppies?!?!? ..maybe? Oh Bren...you poor, poor girl... Trust me, the ladies are just fine with the flips I wear, Darlin
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Randy Williams has no business being on this team. Nothing more really needs to be said. If he stays on the roster, then KW and Ozzie deserve criticism. Also, maybe now that the streak is over, KW and Ozzie will get serious about adding another bat. He'll be gone as soon as Bobby comes back.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) It still irks me though. Bringing in Williams is a sign of conceding victory. Threets is here so why not give him a shot? We already know what Williams brings to the table and that's absolutely nothing. And it was 7-3. What I was implying is that we never scored a 7th run, so the run he gave up was inconsequential. But I understand your point. I'm getting more and more upset as this one sinks in, between Beckham's interference call, Alexei getting called out at first, and the strike on Rios...grrr
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Oh well. Was a nice run and we can start another streak tomorrow. It's too bad we brought up a very good looking reliever to have him sit and watch as the worst pitcher in baseball added to the Cubs lead. Who knows what could have happened if Ozzie didn't bring in dead man walking Williams. Yeah, who knows...but we were down 7-2 when Williams came in, weren't we?
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Rios was forced to protect on that last slider with that incredible expanded zone. He didn't have much of a chance after strike 1. Yeah, and I think he was still reeling from the strike 1 call on that second strike, otherwise, Fathom is right, he has handled that pitch all year. He should have taken a step out and gotten his composure a little better before stepping back into the box..
  8. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Yeah, you suck ump. If that had been a ball, Rios would have hit a home run. The Sox would have won the game. They would have gone to the World Series and our lives would have gone on anyway! For the love of god...you just bring it on yourself man
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) Amazing that he'd expand the zone like that when the f***ing guy couldn't get the ball over the plate. You almost NEVER see that. Yeah, you usually have to establish that you can throw a few strikes before they'll give you a call like that. Such a good take by Alex too...Dadgummit
  10. That ump just f***ed us right there...totally changed that at bat
  11. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) When your short stop is running to first and at the end is more interested in calling safe or out for three consecutive days, you might as well just suggest that he become a major league umpire. Sorry, but my frustration is a combination of the blown call (a very minor part of the combination), Alexei's reaction to the play (for those three times he has done it) and listening to Hawk blow up every single time there is a close play. I wonder what kind of response I would get if I seriously sent him umpire equipment with his name on it and told him to go do a game while Paciorek and Stone do the game. I agree wholeheartedly with what you're saying here, but I wasn't exactly sure with what the original poster said in his statement. Was he saying that KW was incompetent or that the two fringe players were incompetent? He blew an easy call. Get over it.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) Dempster is the worst match-up of all the Cubs starters for our hitters, due to our lack of quality lefty hitters. Well, we had 5 players coming into the day with a career .300 or better batting average against him.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) After not seeing the game threads for the last few days, I'm shocked at some of the awful posts in here not even dealing with the happenings in the game. I thought the mood around here would be a lot happier. I think it's the combination of the winning streak coming to an end and it coming at the hands of the lowly Cubs. With this pitching matchup, this is a game where the odds were stacked in our favor, especially after getting the quick 2-0 lead. Johnny just didn't have it today and we let Dempster get in a rhythm after having him on the ropes early. Oh well, you can't win them all. Need to get another winning streak started tomorrow.
  14. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Agreed on the leather. These are the J Crew flip flops I wear... Not sure why anyone would think this looks bad on a guy. No way...I'll leave the leather to Jesus. These are more my style: Havaianas
  15. The Hawkeroo is really trying to keep it together here. My guess is a string of f-bombs was just heard all over the press box and in the pisser...
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) Just got back from a business trip all weekend...was hoping for the sweep, but hard to argue with this weekend's results. Are you a spy, Fathom?
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) That's some pretty awful analysis. What are you even saying? I was wondering the same thing myself...
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) This is where Gordon begins his comeback. Or not.
  19. Johnny seems determined to be the one to end this streak...
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) Time for a little DP action. You're soooo naughty
