Official 2010 World Cup Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) It doesn't, lots of people root for their ancestoral countries in these things. I'm just pointing out that anti-American commentary from you is common, which both make your comments on Altidore easy to ignore, and is also interesting since you live here. But why is it ok for Americans to offer anti-US National team commentary but not him? Because he is also a fan of Serbia? -
QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:04 AM) My fiance and a friend have them and facetime has not worked very well. I have yet to see it work where both phones are not on the same wifi connection (if that makes sense). We tested them at our apartment and it worked, but it won't work from our apartment to my work. What happens?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) Iphone 4 just set a new sales record for Apple launches. I really like mine, but the full experience won't be realized until a lot of people have them so you can really use the video calling. I don't know anyone else who has one, so I haven't been able to do that yet.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 08:26 AM) ^^ LOL -- NSFW unless you have headphones, a little swearing involved...but still pretty funny when you think about the whole Apple culture. That is quite humorous.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) I actually was pleasantly surprised by that movie. Went in expecting nothing much though. I thought the twist near the end was nicely done, solid acting, well directed and produced, good dialogue. Yeah, maybe my expectations were high, and thus it didn't live up to them... The twist was cool, but I still felt like it needed a little extra something...

Ugh, this is exactly the type of rug I am afraid is going to get pulled out from under us...

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) My god.... 1 day 23 hours, 29 mins from this post till FA. Broussard kind of pissed in my cereal this morning when he said it might take a week or two until anyone really signs...
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) Well... I've slacked off for about 5 days so I just got back into the program. This week is suppose to be my last week on the Insanity program, but I will probably do an extra week to kind of balance out the days I've missed. No doubt this program has changed my body and life entirely. Still got some work to do after it is said and done, but I really like the results I'm seeing. This is truly an Insane program. You think P90X is hard, try doing this program and living to tell about it. (not "literally" of course, but thats how crazy it is) G, How much work does it do on your upper body and back? I've considered trying Insanity, but I just don't really see the need for it. I'm in pretty solid shape and don't really care to get any thinner, because I know I won't maintain it. I'm not going to bust my ass to get to like 7% body fat only to eventually go back to the mid teens anyways.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) Take a f***ing joke. Fair enough, Milk. We'll see how you enjoy it.

Just watched Book of Eli...a little disappointed. Was a cool setting, well-done, I liked the idea of the plot, just...well, a little underwhelming at the end. Never really felt like it reached a crescendo or anything, and then it sort of just winds down. While I love Denzel, and Mila Kunis is hot, I needed something more out of this one.

Everytime I think Miguel Olivo is coming down to earth, he comes up with a game like tonight. I'm happy for him.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) obviously this was coming, but Raptors GM Collangelo (sp?) announced today that Bosh will be opting out, only interesting thing was he said they would do a sign and trade so that theoretically opens more teams So he could opt out, then re-sign a max contract, and then be traded?

Jenks could miss a week, on bereavement list

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) 6 weeks left and counting...she's an amazing person, handling it much better than I would. What's she doing with you then? Hah, I kid, I kid. Glad to hear it, brother. -
I don't think there is anything wrong with saying "With the way this offense as a whole has performed, it might be time to bring in a hot bat." If it were me, I would have said "With the way this offense has sucked ass, Kenny needs to go get Prince Fielder."

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Good to hear Jenks' wife is ok. My sources tell me she was depressed due to Bobby leaving her for greg. Hahahahahahaha! Got a big kick out of this, Fathom. Good to see you still with a sense of humor while living with a pregnant woman....props to you! -
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) hence the double cougar lifestyle Hey, I strapped-it down, or whatever the Hawkeroo says!
-
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) unfortunately we were told prince isnt going amywhere, which either means they arent trading him or we have to overpay Yeah, and we can't afford to sign him long term anyways... But I'd be willing to give them Hudson/Flowers/Viciedo for the chance at winning it this year. Of course, I am a short-sighted jackass.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) And LaRoche just blew a game for the D-Backs on defense, horrible throw scores the tying and winning run in the bottom of the 9th. Ugh, as if their pen isn't bad enough as it is!
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) PEDs is a terrible thing. How many freak injuries can he have before realizing his tendons are too tight. Linebrink for Brennan Boesch!
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) Zumaya just f***ed his arm. Down on the ground and done for the season, is my guess, He is crying in pain.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) As I told you, it would be a huge mistake to give up Flowers or Hudson for a rental right now. There's no telling if we just go back into our struggles in the AL. Unless it's for Prince Fielder, Hudson is untouchable for me. That is what I meant by saying "f*** it."
-
QUOTE (noodle_53 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Have no fear. Bannister's career ERA against the Sox is well over 7. Series will be split by this time tomorrow. I'm more confident in Gavin Floyd right now than the White Sox offense, but I appreciate your objectivity.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) I said earlier in the game, but the time is now for KW to be proactive. By the magic of something, we're back in the race. Don't let it slip away though! We probably can't afford to fall back 6 or 7 games again, especially with the Twins having resources to acquire a SP. The problem is that to be proactive is going to cost us a lot right now. I can live with moving Flowers but I do not want to move Hudson. I think it's either time to say "f*** it" and go for broke or we stand pat for 3 weeks or so.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) The scary thing is that the correction is well underway for Rios, his numbers are coming back down to his career norms and we still have a ways to go until they get there. I'm not sure we can survive a Rios rough patch, even if Quentin is tearing the cover off the ball. Well, he got a base hit today and just missed a home run....but yeah, the road to hell is paved with almost home runs...
