Horrible jump.

Alexei is just popping everything up lately.

Way to start us off, Juan!

Man, I'd just thank heavens that you're still alive... Although the picnic idea on the beach is a wonderful one, IMO.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) I can't help but find this funny. I don't think there is any question that this approach started with Windows 7.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) What is the value of a playoff appearance? My guess is in excess of $6mil. Thus if Dunn = playoffs it doesnt matter what numbers you throw around, it will be a win for the Sox. And Dunn > Thome, so if we had Thome we may never get Dunn. Not to mention Thome is only playing part time and theres no way of knowing if those stats extrapolate to full time player. Obviously it depends on how deep in the playoffs you go. My guess is each game is worth $2-3 million in cash. Not sure how the playoff media revenues work. Then there is the additional season ticket sales you make the next year. My guess is a playoff appearance can be worth upwards of $30-40 million if you win the whole thing. Maybe $6-10 million if you go out in the ALDS. Probably $14-20 Million if you go out in the ALCS. And $20-30 million if you lose in the World Series.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) right, I've read all that before. It says "Go.com proved to be an expensive failure for its parent company, as web users preferred to use search engines to access content directly, rather than start at a top-level corporate portal." If it's a complete failure, why still use it? THat's what i was trying to get at. Sounds like they are basically using infrastructure they've already paid for, rather than pay for new domain names.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) FWIW, Utley got hurt on my fantasy team, so I picked up Beckham and started him. Let's see if anything happens, lol. I picked up Carlos Guillen.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) dont forget the rumors about iamshack's cougars Oh man, I am starting to wish they were just rumors now...so much work!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Just reporting what I heard, from a source that has been accurate the last two times he told me something. Do with it what you want. Fair enough.

WTF? Megan Fox married Brian Austin Green! I thought they were split-up and she was on the market for me to pursue again!?!
-
It's not as if private jets don't exist and Wade couldn't travel from Chicago to Miami in 2 hours.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) It wasn't Kenny. So what you're saying is that Kenny tells his family members which deals are "likely," and one of those persons told someone else, who told you, and you are now reporting this in the open to all of us?
-
Cowley did claim he saw Wade's kid in the washroom at the Cell on Saturday afternoon...
-
Steve, no offense intended, but it seems extraordinarily out of character for Kenny to leak something like that unless for some other reason(s)...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) Kalapse can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've gotten the impression that we have cut some salary this year compared to last, and last year we dumped 2 players at the end of the season to save about $2 million in salary as well. Well, both of those players we dumped also came off the books. Next year, AJ and Konerko come off the books. That's why we were able to convince Jerry to add Jake and Alex.
-
I think the key point is that the media knows Kenny is always going to be aggressive, and always explore any big name player that may be available at any time. Kenny has made this point repeatedly. Basically, the media can just assume we are going to be involved in any and almost every big player that becomes available, and not really be inaccurate. Where they do get caught unsuspecting is when Kenny gets creative and finds a player that is available that wasn't really speculated to be available, such as Nick Swisher.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Scoring from the penalty spot isn't exactly the same as scoring from open play. There are plenty of defenders who are very good penalty takers. Oh I understand that...do goals in a penalty shootout count as goals? If not, so he may have scored plenty of PKs before in a shootout situation before? It was probably just an unfortunate coincidence. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Ozzie Guillen is their coach. If that was the case, Omar would have been taking it. -

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) So... Portugal v Spain. This should be a good game. I'm glad we finally had penalties. Everyone says how they dislike penalties so much but I've always enjoyed them... unless England are involved. Why did Japan have a defender who has never scored an international goal taking one? -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) Oh i"m not saying they cant be friends. Heck, they can even say "wouldnt it be great to play together someday". To me, where the line is drawn is when you have a player "recruiting" in a wink wink fashion on behalf of his team and discussing contract numbers. I understand things are done through "back channels" as to clear an organization of tampering charges, but this isnt even back channel. This is through the front door with the windows open. The only reason it is being done openly is because there are no rules to currently prohibit it. Honestly, how on earth would they enforce this sort of thing?
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) But Wade is still technically a member of the organization, therefore a rep. I think the distinction is that technically you have to be some member of of the Organization's administration or front office or staff for it to be tampering. How else would they enforce this if it could be tampering for players to fraternize together? What, Wade is not allowed to be "friends" with LeBron and/or Bosh? They can't have dinner together? Play golf together?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) He was one of the youngest players in the entire tournament. How the hell doesn't it apply? I mean s***, everybody is going gaga over Alexandre Pato (21) and he wasn't even included in Brazil's team. Pato has had success at Milan already, but Jozy's rights are owned by Villareal. Not exactly a crap club. So it's not just Americans who see something in him. And you still havent addressed the questions of why. That Serbia flame out must really be bothering you still. Enough with the baiting. Suspensions will be handed out if this bs continues.
