Does anyone else here sometimes wish Steve Stone was our manager?
-
There's the Alex I know and love!
-
Omar takes really good swings against Greinke
-
Way to freeze him Jake!

That was a carbon copy of like every hit Getz ever got for us...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) Mark Kotsay could not have tried to pull that ball anymore than he did there. The worst thing is that the awful pregame show on 670 was talking about him having a good hitting night last night. Isn't it funny how these guys that do this for a living are so bad at it? I mean we're just fans and we know so much more than people who get paid to cover this game...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) I don't think we score more than one run tonight. This offense is in a lot of trouble if Konerko/Rios continue their struggles this week. Gentleman's bet that we score 4...

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Anyone else already feel resigned to the fact that we're not getting Dunn? I think there are a few of us here that don't particularly want him at the supposed price they're asking...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) Whew, ugliest one run inning you'll see. Hopefully Peavy gets it going, cause we can't give up too many more runs and expect to win. I have a feeling we are going to get to Zack tonight actually...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) He's missing on every fastball he tries to throw on the outside corner to righties/inside to lefties. He also doesn't look comfortable with his slider. He'll get comfortable...he just seems to struggle in the first inning...

Jake throwing a million pitches in the first, as usual
-
K, one more Jake

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) What is Peavy doing out there? He's just throwing 91 mph fastballs down the plate, and throwing the 3-2 fastball to Butler there was just stupid as hell. Yeah, not looking particularly sharp tonight...
-
Butler is just a beast of a hitter
-
I don't like this funk Alex is in. I'd like to switch he and Q in the order...
-
This thread is getting ridiculous. Yes, let's all spend our time arguing about the worst players in our history. How productive.

B&B today....I'm amazed at how weak I was because of this back and neck tweak I have...

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) I agree it'd be nice to get Gordon back on track somehow, but we don't have the luxury to wait for Gordon to get back on track anymore. We're in the thick of the race, it'll be July as of tomorrow, and we need our best lineup out there. Right now, that lineup doesn't include him. I'd be willing to give him another week or so...he has had some good ABs the last week...

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) Put Dayan at 3rd and Omar at 2nd. I wish Ozzie realized how simple it is. If we could somehow get Gordon back on track, use Viciedo exactly like we used him yesterday (replace him late with Omar for defense), and with Q seemingly back, that would improve our offense a ton.
-
Honestly, from what I am seeing from Viciedo right now, I'd like to give him more at bats and see how he does.
-
Ok Greg, the Royals are barely a favorite at -120 out here. Not the -240 that you claimed. You owe me $100 now.

QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) Played St. Ives in Michigan two weekends ago and I can say it was the nicest course in the Midwest I have played. Problem was I played with a buddy who shot a gentleman's 162 (I was reading CNN on my Blackberry between my shots, it got so boring). I would never play with him again but he got us a great deal to get on the course because his frat brother works there. iamshuck, I have played Royal Links, Shadow Creek, Bali Hai and Revere at the Anthem in the past 18 months. Any fun courses you could recommend? My buddies and I head out to Vegas a couple times a year. We're headed back in August but won't play (too hot). Possible later this year we will though. Steve, there are a million courses out this way to play. I don't even know where to begin... Bear's Best is pretty awesome...Badlands is cool....but I am relatively new to the area myself, so my best guess would just be to do some researching online.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) How in the world am I supposed to know what Ozzie's planned alternatives were? I know that hes done better than the White Sox DH's. But I have no idea what Ozzie had planned or Kenny, or whether their plan worked out or not. Thats a lot of assumptions I have no idea about. Well I'm going off of what's been said in the press. Ozzie wanted to platoon Kotsay/Pierre/Vizquel/Jones. That much is pretty clear. I don't think Ozzie had any plans to have Kenny go get him Adrian Gonzalez or anything. He knew damned well that what he would have would be similar or exactly what he has right now, and yet he still didn't want any part of Thome. It was a very bad decision, that's all there is to it. And it's based on Ozzie's hunches and goofy ideas about how runs should be scored, and not on any statistical proof or method whatsoever.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) Soxtalk whipping boy is a title only taken on by those universally hated. People like Scott Linebrink, Andy Gonzalez, Jizzcan (I don't think I've refered to Luis Vizcaino by his real name since I first saw that nickname), Darin Erstad, DeWayne Wise, Mark Kotsay, people like that (I wasn't here pre '05, so I can't speak to those players). The only player I didn't feel earned the whipping boy status he actually ended up with was Jizzcan. He had a really catchy nickname, and a few blowups in 2005 (I recall a REALLY bad one early in the year), but he actually wasn't too bad for a guy pitching in the role he pitched in. He just got a lot of hate as basically the last guy in an otherwise amazing bullpen that year. Vizcaino was actually quite solid for us for much of that season. Unfortunately, he had to take a few outings for the team (much like Tony Pena now) which blew up his numbers and skewed the hell out of them.
