  1. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) Wow, just turned the game on. Looks like everyone but Beckham getting in the party. Beckham has had two almosts.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) It's just real nice to enjoy White Sox baseball again. Even if this all amounts to nothing in the end at least we're getting some highly entertaining baseball out of this, it's a nice change of pace from their previous 3 or 4 months of play. I could not agree with you more. It's great to see this roster succeed. I knew they were better than they were showing.
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) That did cross my mind but I made the call and I'm sticking to it. The ball has to be in your hand or glove. You cannot use a part of your uniform to catch or possess the ball. See rule 2.00 definition of terms.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) If he gets to 300 PA it will be the first time in the history of the game that an infielder reached that mark in his age 43 season or later. And how many players have there been in the game like Omar Vizquel?
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) That's been my whole argument. Sometimes good pitchers have off days and that's what we saw today. Well, your posts suggested that indeed Hanson would not get shellacked (thank you Stone Pony), because there was nothing in his 30 start history to suggest that.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Sometimes good pitchers just don't have it and you see a great AL starter get beat up by an NL lineup. And no one is disputing that but you about an hour ago in the case of Hanson.
  7. I agree Omar is not going to play every day, but I don't think he's as delicate as some of us might think...
  8. Now this is White Sox baseball! I feel like it's 2006 again!
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) These aren't numbers, it's based on having seen the majority of his big league starts with my own eyes. He's an amazing young talent and there's a reason why the Braves had him as an untouchable when the Tex deal was being negotiated. And he's also capable of being shellacked by a team with some good f***ing mojo going right now...
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) He was a draft and follow pick out of Community College, that's why he went so late. He's dominated every where's he's pitched and he has everything you look for in a pitcher, I think no less of him today than I did yesterday he just couldn't find the feel for his breaking ball and started throwing almost all fastballs, this happens sometimes. We caught him on a bad night, I'm happy. My point is that his history suggests this doesn't really happen. I'm just saying his history isn't long enough for us to know.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) What does the round he was drafted in have anything to do with his ability? He was regarded the best pitching prospect by everyone coming into last season (as I'm sure you know). I'm not arguing at all with you, as I know this is between you and Kalapse. Because he is still adjusting to his stuff and this level of success. Probably a bit of a learning process since this has all come so fast for him. This guy was not a big-time prospect 3 years ago. And it's nothing between Kal and I...anyone can jump in if they'd like. I argue my bulls*** against Kal's hard numbers all the time.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) Sale is a lanky kid. He has about as much muscle as i do. Yeah, 6"5' and 170 or something...
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) Who is your pick for the homer? I'm thinking Alexei. I like Alex
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) Good for you. Personally, If find it fun to break down matchups. So you don't think the fact that he was a 22nd round pick and this is his first full year starting the major leagues and he has a scarce few starts against AL teams raises a sample size argument?
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) The best part of this streak? We haven't hit a bomb in weeks. That will change tonight.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) Give me a break. I've seen the guy pitch and and his stuff, control and moxy matchup well against any lineup. He just has absolutely nothing tonight, he's not even bothering with his breaking balls because he no feel for them today, these things happen. What you're basically saying is that there isn't much reason to believe Peavy can still dominate because 3 of his very best outings this season has come against horrible competition. Not at all. I'm saying Hansen doesn't have enough of a pedigree for me to care about how many times he's been lit up before.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) There's nothing in Tommy Hanson's past performances that says he'll get killed today yet you seem to think he will, that's called faith. You're number 1 problem here is trying to lump me in with those who give up after 2 innings, you obviously don't know me very well. No, but a few random starts against good AL team don't give him a body of work that is inscrutable. He's young and he faces p**** NL lineups all the time. He's not Roy Halladay.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Our staffs are similiar, our pen is better and I'd kill to have Heyward on this team. Who wouldn't? But this year, I'd rather have Rios.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) I like you're faith. I'm just posting stats, don't try to use that "keep the faith" bulls*** on me as I'm not one that needs a pep talk. It's not about faith. It's about using logic instead of always the "worst case scenario, which is what goes on in these game threads.
