  1. The Sox re-signed Podsednik to a one year deal today. How does everyone feel about that? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2682603
  2. they should start black jack mcdowell in game one.
  3. ok, so i had a party tonight at my house and once the party started going i was persuaded to wear my cheap ass plastic white sox batting helmet. ( i go to school in ohio so needless to say, my friends who are indians fans completely destroyed it within the next ten minutes. theyre bitter as hell and kind of psycho). anyways, the topic of me being a fair weather fan came up because everyone assumes that every white sox fan is a fair weather fan. im clearly not a fair weather fan considering i went to my first sox game when i was 8. it was difficult for me to prove that i had been a fan before they were winners. We came up with naming the starting lineup from the 2000 team as the baromter for fair weather fandom. I was only able to come up with 4 position players, however, i could name the top 4 starters. Well, this post is unnecessarily long but i was just wondering what you guys think would be the ultimate test to see who is a true sox fan.
  4. I'm sorry but i have a hard time believing this poll. Only 56 percent of the people in chicago watched at least one bears game? You would think its more than that. But only 53 percent watched a sox game? there is no way that is true. they were on tv 174 times last year. odds are, people are gonna watch at least one. i can almost guarentee that over 53 percent of the city was watching the world series considering all the cubs fans who were watching to cheer against the sox.
  5. Personally, i think Javy should be traded to a National League team. He has to be an attractive option for a number of contending teams in that league and would instantly become the number one starter available. Vazquez has not only been a mediocre to bad pitcher this year but he brings a negative attitude to the team. Every fan feels like hes due for a blowup inning every game even if he is doing well and i suspect that his teamates feel the same way. If they traded Javy, they could get BMac stretched out and ready to start in a short time. This would save a ton of money and hopefully Javy would bring back some prospects or a major league caliber bat. I don't think there is anyone on this board that can rationally think that replacing Vazquez with BMac would be a downgrade. It would breathe fresh air into the rotation and if he could get on a roll like he did at the end of last season, it could be a big momentum builder.
  6. Chris Widger is a decent backup but obviously the answer to our problem is Ron Karkovice. He is a free agent right now and would love to play again for the Sox. I say we sign him.
  7. Good. One of my friends is a Red Sox fan and he cant stop talking about Papelbon, its pretty annoying. Ill admit Papelbon is good but at least now I can say Jenks is better because of this award. (even though he isnt)
  8. 50? hes getting 50 for sure. The question should be whether or not he can get to 60. Wouldn't that make him the first AL player to hit 60 since Maris or am i wrong on that one?
  9. Aaron Rowand is the MVP. Without him we don't have Thome and without Thome we don't have 57 wins.
