  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) Ruby Ridge + Waco = OKC bombing I guess, but that level of attack is going to be incredibly difficult post-9/11.
  2. Why is the Waco comparison bad here? I mean, in Waco you had brain-washed innocents, allegedly. Here you have a bunch of seditionists and/or traitors. A drone strike would be ok with me.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) That? Have you ever actually read Lizzy Seeberg's police statement? Not what other people have said about the incident but her actual statement to police. Even if you accept her statement as 100% true, what she claimed happened does not rise to the level of rape, sexual assault, or any other felony. A misdemeanor at worst. Maybe you can find a lawyer to explain this to you. How is ND responsible for the media and the girl's family inaccurately describing what happened? I've said repeatedly that the video assistant's death was terrible and that the AD should have been held accountable for it. (Fortunately for BK, the AD was present that day and thus was the highest ranking person responsible, as much as I'd personally love to lay the blame on BK) I don't know how the university and/or football program has any liability for one of its players getting catfished. No evidence that the university knew she was fake until right before the story came out. The academic employee got canned and probably getting charged. (though you have used a very liberal definition of "prostituted" since no money changed hands). No university's athletic programs are without people doing bad things. The question is how the university deals with these things once discovered. I'll put ND's actions up against any FBS school in that regard. Five players missed the entire 2014 season for something that probably doesn't even get them a slap on the wrist at most FBS schools. "Your honor, the prosecution rests." I mean come on man, reread this post and replace Notre Dame with "Steelers" and you have the exact same position your friend has. I don't get why you think he's wrong when you do it yourself. By the way, was the bolded supposed to be some dig at me?
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) Isn't it at least a little bit different when it's the QB though? The Bears picking up someone with Ben's past to be their nickel DB may make me uncomfortable, but the Bears picking up Ben may very well make me not want to be a Bears fan anymore. Oh, I thought you were going the other way with this. IMO you're being pretty hypocritical here given your complete devotion/defense of Notre Dame-related scandals.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) Yes, are you attempting to reference an incident where Prince Shembo voluntarily stopped an encounter when Lizzy Seeberg began crying/screaming (while clothes were still on) but ended up being accused by the media of sexual assault/rape anyway, or were you going in a different direction? That and others. The dead video tape assistant, the fake GF, players sleeping with a prostituted daughter of an academic employee, etc. Despite all of that "noise," you still back Notre Dame 110%. So i'm not surprised by your response to your friend. That's all i'm pointing out. On the question itself, i'm more in agreement with you. Unless criminal charges have been brought/they're serving time, I don't really care what they do off the court/field. I don't root for them to succeed, but i'm also not rooting that the franchise itself fails because they have them on the team. The franchise will continue long after that player is gone.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) Got into a very long/heated "discussion" on FB Sunday about Ben's past and whether or not it should affect one's decision to be a fan of the team. Predictably, the Steelers fans got very defensive and constantly trotted out: 1) Ben never got convicted or even charged, they were just allegations 2) almost every team, pro or college, has at least one player with some level of domestic violence accusations against them so why single out the Steelers My responses: 1) Ben was never charged but the allegations were from multiple women in different places at different times which to me, even though charges were never filed, is more serious than a single unsubstantiated allegation 2) A QB of a professional team has a higher level of notoriety than other NFL players, who in turn have a higher level of notoriety than any college player (who is gone is Any thoughts? Aren't you the die hard Notre Dame fan here?
  7. I'm all for it with proper safe guards in place.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Got it. Yep, I will be incredibly pissed if Groce is back next year. You better start preparing yourself. Unless they go winless in the big ten or something, there's no way he's fired. I agree with you that he's earned it, and the time is right, but I don't trust the school to do ANYTHING right anymore when it comes to athletics.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Doesn't matter. A competent AD can see that this team isn't well coached and the program isn't moving in the right direction. And it's got SOME talent coming back. Now would be the time to change.
  10. Deadwood movie is a go. I'm squeeling like a little girl right now.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Especially because defenders have no reason to defend him on the perimeter if he won't at least be a threat to shoot from out there. The deeper out he gets defended, the more chances at driving to the rim he gets as it spreads the D out. Milwaukee was playing off him last night and he still managed to look like vintage D-Rose driving to the hoop. Defenses can only play off him so much, otherwise you're giving him a head of steam to start his drive.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Jenks, we get it, your entirety of bulls fandom is being pissed off that rose destroyed his knees and is not openly talking about how he's a terrible player. He should not be fined every time he shoots a 3. He has halved his 3PA this year. He's trying. I don't expect him to admit he's average to bad now, I just want his play to represent that. I want him to drive and dish, as he did last night, and that's it. When the series against Cleveland eventually comes, and every possession is important, Rose jacking up 3-5 long jump shots amounts to wasted possessions. And it's not even that he misses them, it's that they're usually unnecessary. I don't buy that he has to shoot to keep the defense honest. He keeps the defense honest because he can drive on anyone and he's got one of the best spot up shooters in the game playing the 5 that he can pass to. I'm half serious about the fine. I just don't want him shooting those shots. Either drive it and get to the basket or drive it and kick it. If he's going to take a shot over a layup, get into the paint and shoot a floater.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) Thats what they used to do when he was the entire offense, the thing now is he can now pass and move and drive again, which is what he should become. He should be fined 20k each time he takes a 3 that isn't within a few second of the shot clock expiring. No reason for him to take those shots other than hero ball.

  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Why do they bring back these retreads in the Bachelor, that Amber girl is beat up So many hot chicks this year though.
  16. I hope his return doesn't affect Butler's play. I worry Rose is going to take 20-25 shots tonight to try to reestablish himself as the go-to guy.
  17. Couple interesting shows in here: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/01/02/mid...aign=Coverstory Colony and Mad Dogs look like cool ideas.
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) 1) Quinn's storyline was disappointing, agreed there. 2) They couldn't believe Carrie, she's on the outside of the company. Even if Saul believed her (which he did eventually after getting over their falling out) he still had to convince everyone on the inside that she was right. Which is believably hard since she's on the outside and linked to leaked documents. I mean I get that to a point, but it seems to me with everything she's done in the past, all the miraculous intelligence work she's done, she's earned the benefit of the doubt. And since we're talking about all of the same people that have been connected to her (Saul, Dar, the Berlin chick, etc) that it wouldn't be much of a stretch to at least believe what she says while also questioning it to some degree. Even the documents themselves. Why on earth would they really believe that Carrie was the source of that? Or that she was somehow protecting the hacker? Nothing in the prior 5 seasons have indicated any willingness on her part to really screw the CIA or the US. I mean, yeah, she boned a known terrorist, but that was more out of proving that he wasn't a truly awful person, not screwing over the agency or country.
  19. The wife and I finished up Homeland over the holidays. I was really digging the season up through about 6 episodes. And then it sorta sucked from there. The entire Quinn storyline was dumb. And how many times are they going to play the "no one believes in crazy Carrie, especially Saul, but then she saves the day!" card? Also, why did everyone in Berlin speak in perfect American accents??
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 3, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14494154...sore-right-knee Jesus Christ grow a pair. I really wish the Bulls would just cut him already.
  21. Offense is 1000 times better without Rose clogging it up. I know it's the Knicks, but still.
  22. This is f***ed up: http://www.businessinsider.com/sweden-cash...t-rates-2015-10
