Tom Petty found unconscious and in full cardiac arrest last night. If he pulls through I don't know how much will still be there.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Conditt and Castleton are pretty much gone, just awaiting official announcements. Enjoy them Heads and Brian, super jealous of you guys right now Still have a shot with Nolley but not a great one. Already lost Kisunas to UCONN. Ayo and THT still very much in the mix but looking like late October for commitments from them. Illinois is short on big guys. Pun intended. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Well Illinois is going to have a rough week in recruiting it looks like. I take it that news is starting to trickle in that they are missing out on all their big targets? I'm not surprised really. They've been so bad. I think Underwood needs to use this year as a showcase and hope that 2019 brings in the big class. -
Doesn't look like Trump called this a terrorist act. Not surprising.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) Lottery Reform has been approved: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2085100...healthy-players I actually think that the new rules will encourage more tanking. In the old system, they drew 3 teams for the lottery and put teams 4-14 by record. Team with worst record had a 25% chance, 2nd worst record 19.9% and 3rd worst at 15.6%. Now they are including the 4 worst teams in the drawing and putting the odds at 14% for each starting in 2019. Instead of 3 teams tanking for the 1st pick, I think the league could have as many as 10 teams tanking to get into the bottom 4 because those teams all have an equal chance now of obtaining the #1 pick in a given year. This new system doesn't really make any sense in my opinion. Totally agree with this. I haven't read up on it, but did they add the proposed rule about not being able to draft top 3 in consecutive years? -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) I'm gonna go Craig Krenzel Look at this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chica...ng_quarterbacks You would think after 3 decades you would luck into a decent QB at least once. Cutler was the best and he was/is terrible. I love that EVERY time the Bears play the Packers, the broadcast team is compelled to show a graphic of QB's for each organization since Favre.

Packers fans were cheering when Glennon went back out there

I can't believe he's still playing.

Fire everyone

Whelp, they kept me interested for 30 min

7 min in and it's already 14-0.

Lol

Yep, this is the Bears Packers script I'm used to.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Pretty good line. The wild thing is let's say out of the top 20 recruits according to ESPN.com and Rivals.com, 10 of them are big time players who came through the AAU system. Let's say they all 10 are getting money from shoe companies to go to a certain school and the coaches know about it. Yikes. If the investigation is thorough enough, all 10 of the college coaches probably committed crimes. Let's say 5 of the kids are from Mali or Nigeria. And they all have "mentors" who brought them over here, put them in academies and bartered deals with colleges. And accepted money from schools to funnel kids there. More crimes. This may sound dumb, but should the NCAA declare this upcoming season null and void? Have no games at all while conducting an all-out fact finding assault on college hoops? It seems to me like somebody posted here there could be a "majority" of top 20 programs guilty of something. Yikes. Just thinking out loud here. No chance. Go read the story I linked to a page or two ago. This same sort of investigation has happened in college bball before. Schools have been punished for it before. This isn't anything new and i'm kind of shocked why so many of the national writers are pretending like this is some major dooms day event. It's a big deal because the FBI is involved, and they all want to write the popular anti-NCAA story, but I bet in 3 months time nothing will change. The season will start and we'll be done with it. Some of these schools will have fall out, but the vast majority of teams won't. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) The minimum that has to happen is that the NCAA finds that this happened under Underwood's watch and he should have known about it. That is exactly what Pitino got his suspension for with the hooker scandal even though there was no actual evidence connecting him to it at all. If there is any evidence or testimony at all that Underwood did know anything about it at all, that pushes it to a whole other level. We aren't talking about much here at all for this to take down Underwood, or any other head coach for that matter. I'd be surprised if head coaches have direct involvement with this stuff. Out of sight out of mind. Plausible deniability. And more practically, HC's don't do the heavy lifting when it comes to recruiting. They close the deal but the assistants are the ones running most of it. If Pitino didn't have the extortion case and the stripper case, my guess is that he'd still have a job today. You get to use the "i didn't know" excuse once. Maybe a suspension, maybe a few vacated wins, but I think most coaches would survive a "rogue" assistance coach. -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 11:44 AM) Most of my coworkers went from laughing about playing the Bears to legitimately concerned (due to last week's win and now their injuries). Hopefully it's a good game. I think the Packers are down this year and the Bears are maybe a little better than I thought, but i'm far too guarded to get excited about the game. I'm expecting a Packers win of 14+

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) All it takes is the assistant looking to make a deal to screw over Illinois. Luckily Illinois has been so bad the last decade i'm not really worried about recruiting scandals. Their best recruits were probably Meyers Leonard and Jerome Richmond, both guys that were local and huge Illinois fans. edit: and yeah, Illinois has no exposure with Evans. Keep in mind the universities are seen as the "victims" of these crimes for being duped and frauded by the assistant coaches into giving scholarships to ineligible players. I guess worse case Underwood gets implicated for his one year at OSU, but nothing at Illinois. -

I was reading an article earlier about the potential jail time, and really it won't be as bad as people are saying. The max is 80 years if you add up each charge collectively, but more than likely they will be served concurrently since they arise out of the same transaction. Also, the amount of money at issue is very low and is not very high stakes. According to a former prosecutor that was interviewed, he thinks a reasonable sentence would be 6 months. Kind of changes the formula here for guys wanted to talk. link: https://sports.yahoo.com/former-aau-basketb...-034806204.html -

Perhaps i'm naive, but I tend to think that for the vast majority of schools and players this isn't an issue. It's an issue for the top level kids, because why wouldn't it? They know they've got a good shot at a future career in the pros, all they're looking for is a place to play bball for a season or two, and when you're the queen at the ball being courted by a number of suitors, why wouldn't you ask for what you're worth? I don't think there's anyway to combat this problem though. There's always going to be a need for this black market. Shoe companies and financial advisers and agents all want to be in a position to sign a guy the minute he declares. And you have the other problem that for the NCAA to enact real change, the NBA basically has to play along, but why would they? They have a free minor league system set up for them. -

Oh God, I love it - Auburn loses its 5 star commit for 2018 and one of their 5 star guys from 2016 is considering a transfer. The other? He's one of the player implicated in the indictment. https://deadspin.com/the-fbis-ncaa-sting-ha...star-1818846437 Bruce Pearl now in the midst of his third major scandal. -

Oof, this is going to get a lot worse: If your favorite program has NBA players, you better be worried. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 26, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) I drive a Dodge Charge '08 and I went in to get my tires rotated last week and the guy basically said that I should get new tires. I have a lot to sort out financially this month so I just want to push it off until November and get some tires that will help my "sports car" not be so terrible in the snow/ice. Generally, I have been pretty happy with Discount but if someone who actually knows cars has any input on tires or services I should consider I would appreciate it. Sam's Club or Costco is the way to go. Usually have good deals on tires and they throw in free balancing, rotation, flat fix and road side assistance.
-
If the shaking is from the steering wheel at higher speeds you probably just threw a weight on one of your tires. I'd take it to a tire shop first and see if they need to be rebalanced.
