  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) Cutler is the starter for Sunday's game http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000029...bears-on-sunday Trestman better hope Cutler plays well against a good defense. If they lose and they eventually miss the playoffs, everyone is going to second guess why he took out the QB that had the offense rolling.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) Oh my goodness. Took the Heat to 7 games. WTF CARES!? They didn't win. That's all that matters. You keep using exaggerations like they will "NEVER" win, and i'll i'm saying is they have a good chance. Going 7 games against a team means you had a chance - a good chance - of beating them.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) The Bulls problems stem from throwing that obscene amount of money at Boozer because they whiffed on all the premium FA. They should have gotten David Lee instead.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) Zoom to the Bulls' FO rescue once again. And the FO will always be able to use that excuse and enough people out there will fall for it. Point is defense, rebounding and Rose was NEVER going to be enough. Just like defense, rebounding and LeBron wasn't enough in Cleveland. Oh bulls***. That's what the Pacers have and they took the Heat to 7 games last year and frankly look like the team to beat this year. The Bulls would have been in contention this year for the same reason they were in contention in 2010 - you have a superstar, you have great defense, you have size, and you can rebound the ball.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 11:22 AM) While I am hoping for the Tank and the high pick, I just cannot watch it. There is no enjoyment in it for me, the team looks defeated out there at all times, Thibs has that "Yea, i know what is going on" look on his face, the rookies arent looking like they are learning so much as they are being thrown into the fire. It just isnt fun. I think Snell is improving and getting more comfortable. Teague is just f***ing terrible. Taj is maybe showcasing himself as a trade piece. The rest? Depressing. I'd like to think it's just the emotion of having all of those expectations before the season and now they know they suck, but Noah, Kirk, Boozer, and Dunleavy...hell everyone but Taj really, sucks out there. Maybe they're just awful now.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 10:23 AM) He's a minor. Don't some states have parental liability laws? eta: this looks like a decent summary of these types of laws in all 50 states: http://www.mwl-law.com/wp-content/uploads/...l-50-states.pdf Makes sense, given that a 16 year old isn't actually going to have any assets to go after. Plus the defense was that the parents literally were responsible for spoiling him and causing him to grow up without an understanding of consequences. That says it's limited to property damage. And caps the damages on the parents to a pretty negligible amount. The kid is covered under the insurance policy for the car. The victims families will certainly get all of that. Gotta hope they have more than a s***ty 20/40 policy (20k per person, 40k per occurrence) like the Illinois minimum. This is a good time to advise anyone with a little extra money to buy as much uninsured/underinsured coverage in your auto policy as possible. There are a ton of uninsured drivers or people who buy the cheapest policies out there, and if they hit you you're screwed if you don't have adequate coverage in your own policy.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 09:58 AM) Yep if the parents of the kids killed have the resources it could wipe the family out although I suppose the family has already taken measures to CYA That china story is creepy, that kid should never see the light of day. I doubt it. Why are the parents responsible? The only way you could get at the parents is if they told him to drive the car for their benefit (e.g., go to the store and get me some groceries, thus becoming their agent) or they knew he had a large history of problems with driving vehicles (negligent entrustment). That's an easy case to get dismissed without more facts. The only theory i can think of would be if they knew he had driven drunk before.
  8. Let's get Butch Davis in here. He's taken over two empty programs and built them up (at least temporarily) http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/w...ng-for-next-gig
  9. That was a great #tankwin last night. Keep it goin' boys!
  10. Selling a little bit of drugs gets you more punishment than killing 4 people apparently.
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) How many of those games should we have won? Did you see improvement? Do new coaches in new environments not have terrible starts in conference? Happens everywhere, even this year. Takes time to put in your system and establish everything. I think with a good coach they win at least three more games - Penn State, Indiana and Northwestern. Maybe the Washington game too. The remainder of the games they were not even competitive. I get what you're saying in your posts, but I think you're setting the bar way too low for the football program. 6 wins when 3-4 of them are locks should not be difficult to achieve for a power conference member.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) You have a very important decision to make regarding Cutler and next year. Wouldn't it make sense to play your (as of now) franchise QB when he's healthy to help you make that decision? Not when you're in the middle of a playoff race. And not when your offense has been playing pretty well. If he plays, he better have a short ass leash.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 11 Dec So barring something unexpected, Trestman clear #Bears will start Jay Cutler vs #Browns on Sunday. Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 11 Dec But Trestman is leaving decision on QB open because he wants to see how he performs in workout later today, maybe see how he feels Thursday
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) You're just wrong about him being a lame duck in every sense. You won't know if he's fired until this time next year. If they make a bowl next year and look decent, there's a decent chance he gets an extension. That's far from a miracle season. Zook wasn't there 2 years and looking to be fired by his 3rd year. You're missing the boat - you fire a coach after 2 years without really, really good justification, good luck getting anyone, anywhere to take the job. Coaches walk into bad situations all the time, but they usually get more than 2 years to fix it. Which is what Beckman is getting. Next year decides it. How is 1-18 or whatever in conference play not a really good justification?
  15. Shots fired! Shots fired! http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...-brian-urlacher
  16. Jeffery is so good you forget sometimes that Marshall is the number 1 receiver out there. Bears need to lock both of those guys up with long term deals.
  17. that place sounds great. too far west from me though.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 10:10 AM) I'll have to look it up. Honestly I don't know many details about it, as opposed to what I know about Gettysburg or the Hatfields/McCoys. Supposedly they made Bonnie the ring leader and there's no basis in history for that. I'm sure that was a creative decision to make her character more interesting/watchable.
  19. http://www.fightingillini.com/statefarmcenter/details.html It'll be a lot like MSU with the Izzone. The Krush student section will be surrounding the court. For TV purposes, they're also totally reconfiguring everything so the place will actually look like we have fans that attend games, instead of 2 guys at a small table surrounded by 30 feet of empty space, and then an entire A section with 10 people in it. Luxury boxes at a good distance will also help with recruiting trips I think (now they get stuck in a corner by a basket). I can't wait. It's going to be an amazing atmosphere.
  20. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) Because we just got electronic, scan-able tickets for football what, last year? We're the slowest AD ever with this stuff. Thanks RG. Hell, we'll have a ticket exchange and I bet A section people will be too lazy to even post them for sale there. Yeah, apparently a dude made 3 ridiculous NBA threes. Even so, should have had a bigger lead at the end. Recaps seem to indicate that they got up big and the put the freshman in and the lead shrunk. So long as they get the W, the more freshman playing time the better.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:31 AM) The History Channel Bonnie and Clyde wasn't too bad. I liked Hatfields and McCoy's better, but this one was better than Gettysburg for sure. It is worth a watch. I've read a lot of criticisms about it, mainly involving the fact that they ignored the real history and/or just got it wrong. But I still plan on marathon watching it at some point. Anyone watch Black Mirror? I've read a lot of things about it over the last several months. Luckily DirecTV is re-airing them on their Audience network so I'm going to give them a shot.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) Its (jimmy johns) also a 1000 times worse for you. Subway nails it if you want to have a healthy lunch. Oh i'm sure. But Subway still sucks, at least the one closest to my office. If you get the bread toasted it's like eating stale bread. Half the veggies aren't quite ripe. And I swear I end up s***ting my brains out 4-5 hours after eating there, which makes me question how sanitary the place is. +1 on the regular old style deli's. There are a few in the west loop, but they're pricey and "commercial." Mom and pop shops just can't compete with the pricing of the larger chains unfortunately. I have 2 new Mediterranean Chipotle clones around my building that opened within the last year and a half (Nesh! and Mezza, both excellent, along with Roti). I've been hitting up those more than the sandwich shops.
  23. Subway is gross. Potbelly or Jimmy Johns is 1000 times better.
