QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Yup. It's all just a big misunderstanding. When he cheered on folks to beat up colored people protesting at his rallies he was actually cheering on a ball game he was listening to in his earpiece. He's also the biggest feminist I know. Loves the ladies if you know what I mean. Dude got 52% of the woman vote. More than a woman candidate. Clearly a big chunk of women didn't care about him calling Rosie O'Donnell fat or having some bro-talk with a hot mic. The sexism cry is so overblown.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) No, you're right. That wave of white power has always been there - Trump just took the lid off the bottle. He got 2 million less votes than Romney and 1 million less than McCain so....no, I don't think he did.
-
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) The article is about Trump being unable to find GOP experts to take over the positions, not the people who currently hold them. "and they met resistance across the landscape of experienced GOP national security professionals" Understood, but see the quote about the two officials I posted in response to Steve.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Treason has been expanded to include not taking administrative jobs and emailing. I said borderline, but you're talking about national security workers abandoning their jobs because they don't like the democratically elected president. I'd consider that a betrayal to the people/country they serve. It would never be actionable, but it's close.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) I highly doubt they reached out to the people under the current administration. Having said that, they rejected because they didn't want to be labeled as someone willing to work for Trump when that nut would never be president. If you read the article, that all happened over a month ago. The same people will flock for the positions now. As they should.

President-Elect Donald Trump: The Thread

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) We're going to bring back jobs. We're going to have so many jobs. We're going to have the best jobs. He also pointed out that various factories and warehouses in those towns have gone to other countries, leaving the towns empty, and said he's going to prevent that from happening again. It's still a theoretical promise, but it was tied to something s***ty/unfortunate that those voters experienced. -

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) How can you say it wasnt because of Trump when theyre yelling he voted for Trump during the entire thing? Seeing a lot of you guys up in arms about alleged mean tweets or signs and then having nothing to say about stuff like this is another reason Trump won. #itsdifferent -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Well, this isn't good. No one wants to work National Security for Trump. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/tru...z&ocid=iehp That's pathetic if people in current positions under Obama would give up their jobs because they don't like their new boss. They work for the country/people. Borderline treason there.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) If the GOP updated their archaic social views and their archaic environmental views, they would be a lot more palatable as a majority party. Neither are likely to happen over the next 4 years. I'm praying he shocks everyone and really does prevent any anti-LGBT laws and he tries to help minorities that are here legally. If he can do that he would actually be really, really good for the party going forward and he could have an 8 year stay. Going after illegal immigrants won't hurt him, even with minorities (as the election showed). But not bridging the divide domestically will be very bad for him for 2020 and the party beyond. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) We thought that the people of this country were better than this. They aren't. That's plenty of reason to be terrified. You act like there was some sudden shift. It's the same country. DEMOCRATS lost the election. A new wave of White Power Americans didn't win it.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) There are dozens of examples already, after one day, where people are being harassed to the point of tears. Black people being called n****r right to their faces, chants of white power, Hispanics being called wetbacks and told that they will be deported soon, Muslims getting their hijabs ripped off. All while mentioning that Trump won and that things are going to change. Why are you so comfortable and dismissive of this? I'm not at all. It's an issue and I hope those assholes around found and prosecuted.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) So am I supposed to feel reassured that we're hearing rumblings of folks like Palin, Arpaio, Giuliani, and a climate change denier for EPA, as part of Trump's cabinet? Is it possible to find a group of more divisive and incompetent people? Hey, pointing out incompetency is 100% legit and I totally agree. Acting like this is a new world order of white people that will transform the country into Germany circa 1930 is what i'm mainly laughing at.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) For reference, I stuck to the ones that were easiest to document/had a police report filed. There are lots of those. OMG! THere are s***ty people in the world!! WHAT A SHOCK! This is literally the same response as me posting the black women saying that Obama was going to pay her mortgage now that he's President and concluding that all black people must feel the same way. Come on, you guys are better than this.
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) What a s***ty post. Show me evidence that he isn't actually going to do it. The planet is going to get hurt. People are already getting hurt. If nothing else happens, if Trump is impeached on January 21, his campaign and victory have already emboldened bigots to be proud bigots, in public. Or, show me evidence he will. 95% of what candidates promise in elections never happens. Why are you all assuming he'll be the first one in history to do it? Will he try to build a wall? Maybe. Will he try to deport 11 million people? Maybe. Will Republicans in Congress back up? No, I don't think so. Will it happen? No, I don't think so. I'll happily eat crow if he does. Also, connecting Trump to Hitler is just idiotic. Fearing that we're going to become a fascist country is idiotic. You lost. People with the right to vote (the absolute, constitutionally protected right!) did so and this is the result. Don't blame him. Don't blame those people. Blame your party for putting up a s*** candidate that started off with 50% of the country not liking her and blame the 7 million or whatever democrats who voted for Obama but didn't vote for Hillary. They were clearly so upset and fearful of a Trump presidency that they did something about it.
-
I'm not saying you guys can't be upset or have an opinion. It's the extreme versions of those opinions that i'm referring to. It's feeding into a sky is falling mentality that is just ludicrous.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Russia says was in touch with Trump campaign during election Wait, why would we believe what Russia says?
-
No discussion about the latest Westworld? I liked the "behind the scenes" angle, but man it really strains credulity to believe those two techs are so stupid and could walk a bot all the way up to the front lobby without someone saying "what are you doing?"
-
I'll say it again, I hate the fact that we elected Trump, I full expect him to be pretty awful, but God damn is it entertaining watching you guys (and other liberals I know) freak out to the absolute extreme. All while i'm sure you laughed when Repub's were concerned that Obama was a socialist and was going to destroy the 2nd amendment. CALM. THE. f***. DOWN. This asshole was a Democrat the majority of his life. Just because he fooled a bunch of dumb Republicans into voting for him on a "conservative" platform doesn't mean he's actually going to do it.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) facebook, the company where Peter Thiel sits on their board? Algorithms swinging towards trump? No way You're going to ignore the huge liberal/socialist that runs the company? The same company that actively was deleting legitimate news stories on timelines, which got a reaction from both sides? Facebook is trash. If you're getting your news from facebook, you might as well get your news from those s***ty ads that warn you about some new face cream or that laws have changed for illinois drivers.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) We have been over reasonable positions. If you want to argue that at some point after pregnancy there is a moment where the cells become "human" and therefore should be protected, I 100% agree with that. But that is not the argument. He is saying all abortion is murder. And there is no way anyone can scientifically argue that at day 1 its the equivalent of a "human". That's fair. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Actually that is false. Can a 1 week fertilized egg survive outside of the womb? No. Can a 1 week fertilized egg survive with assistance from science outside of the womb? No. Can a human survive with assistance of science survive outside of the womb? Yes. If a human cannot survive with the assistance of science outside of the womb, what do we call them? Dead. The problem with this way of thinking is that as technology develops you're changing the definition of what is alive/dead. So over time more deaths occurred. That's a nonsensical way of looking at it. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) A friend of mine works for a large adoption agency. She said business is getting really slow. There now is so much red tape with foreign adoptions, many countries won't go through it with the US. But what I found interesting is she said since the ACA, there are far less unplanned pregnancies in the US, as women are getting more birth control. Free or super cheap BC wasn't enough at Planned Parenthood? -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Youre right, it isnt a debate. Its not murder. In order for something to be murdered, it has to be alive. In order for something to be alive it has to be capable of self sustaining. Is it "murder" when I get a haircut? Is it "murder" when someone has their tubes tied? Is it murder when someone has a vasectomy? (edit) Earth flat? You do realize the people who call abortion "murder" are the same people who said the "earth is flat." Either you with science or you are against science, this isnt a scientific debate, this is a religious one. We've been over this before, but this is nonsense. -

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) I don't think one could make an argument that Donald Trump has more consistent political principles than Hillary Clinton. As you noted not far back, he aligned himself with Democrats not long ago. Oh don't take that statement to mean I prefer Donald "I have no policy" Trump. -
