  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:13 PM) How only 2/3 of Latinos voted for Clinton when Trump said what he said is just insane. I think there's a sizeable part of the latino community that is just as much anti-amnesty as others. They got here the hard way and don't like the people coming the illegal way.
  2. HARRY ENTEN 11:58 PM There’s going to be a lot of talk about white voters after the election, but looking at the exit polls, that’s not the full story. A big part of the story is that Clinton underperformed Obama with blacks and Hispanics. Clinton is winning only 88 percent of the black vote. Exit polls in 2012 had Obama at 93 percent. Clinton is only at 65 percent among Latinos. Obama won 71 percent of them.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) The markets are crumbling Glad there was a small run up the last couple of days.
  4. https://twitter.com/ILCampaign/status/796203703577509888 Comparing Illinois votes in 2008 and 2016.
  5. One positive note that I was just reminded of on Twitter: Lena Dunham said she'd move to Canada if Trump won!
  6. Here's a question for people that follow this stuff: how do we know all of these demographic numbers are accurate when the exit polling data isn't very accurate to begin with. Is that from different data set? Do they take registration info anonymously from the votes?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) It is sad when your biggest hope is that Trump let's Michael f***ing Pence run the day to day operations of the country. Christie, Guliani and Gingrich must be really happy tonight. Some nice appointments coming their way.
  8. Local Fox affiliate in Chicago just said AP called Florida for Trump
  9. What a terrible f***ing year. Lebron wins, the Cubs win, Trump may win, and we have Snyder 2.0. If he walks goodbye Groce. No reason to keep him around without a program changing recruit in the fold.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) Assuming HRC holds VA, PA, MI, WI and gets NH... she still likely wins. She needs just NV or CO to go with it. No need for Clinton backers to give this up, or even panic. This is really, really, really close. But I don't believe Trump at 70% now, nor did I believe the models saying Clinton 90% before. I admit though this is closer than I thought it would be. My guess is, it really comes down to Nevada and Colorado. He's looking pretty good in Michigan which would be a major swing. NH is also up in the air.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) You do realize the guy that was in charge the last 8 years would win this election easily? I would agree, but without much confidence. Not sure you could with these results.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) No you can and should fault people for trying fascism and racism. Fault them all you want, but that's the reality of how they feel.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Trump is getting these people jobs?? I personally don't think he will, but I don't think Clinton would have either. Regardless of what I think, he clearly had a stronger impact on them than Clinton.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Nate holding strong with Hillary at 73% chance of winning still. 5 minutes ago. He just tweeted that's based on called states, not real time.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) They won't get a job from racism and fascism, they've been duped a conman. They just went 8 years without much improvement and your answer is a person who echos the last 8 years. Can't really fault them for wanting to try something different/unproven/unknown (ha).
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:00 PM) Nah tens of millions of Americans have chosen racism and fascism If you live in s***ty poor areas in in some of these states, that's probably ok if it means you can get a job. 120k people voted 3rd party in Virginia. Prob made the difference there.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) Looks like America wants to choose hate. Or people are tired of the same old s***. The exit polling shows that. People don't necessarily like him, but they do want something different. It's pretty striking the difference between rural america and urban america that this election is highlighting.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Nate "my career is over" Silver: 9:37 PM Clinton is leading by only a percentage point in Wayne County, Michigan. That’s a county Obama won by 48 percentage points. Either that result is wrong, a lot of the vote in Detroit (which is in Wayne County) is out, or the map is looking very different than it used to. He's got the fall back of saying he was one of the few warning people that it wasn't a slam dunk win for Hillary. Good "cover your ass" move on his part.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) VA comeback is on. Its going to be super super close. ABC just said her stronghold there, fairfax county is 80% reported. And she's still down. Way closer than "they" thought.
  20. Can we all agree that even if Clinton pulls this out, the pollster bulls*** is just that, bulls***? He's overperforming and setting records in most if not all of the battleground states, all of which was not picked up by anyone.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) more news I sure hope GWB told the reporter that. Otherwise how would he know?
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) If true, Florida's probably in the bag for Clinton and with that the election. The interesting thing to watch there will be the senate race with Rubio. You've been following this stuff more than me, but why does more turnout = better for Hillary? I get that the Latino vote is coming out big this election, but you or someone else posted numbers of increased latino voters from some state the other day and it also showed an increase in white voters too (the number of which doubled all minority increases combined).
  23. I'm more upset that they cancelled the UI-NW series at Soldier Field. Not sure why they did that unless it was costing too much money.
  24. Meh. ACC has been doing it for like 20 years. It's one game a year except for NW. I agree with Stuart Mandel - no one is watching a game featuring Northwestern on Saturday at 3:30pm when it's up against 20 other games. People will watch the game friday because there is nothing else on. Exposure nationally will be good, even if recruiting takes a hit for one week (the impact of which is minimal IMO).
