QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Jon Garland is alright Since nobody answered before, is the Twin's run earned by Garland? I imagine not since he reached second on a throwing error. But it's possible he could have been at second for the single that may have scored him. Anyway, who knows the answer?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) Another scrub Minnesota player defeats us. Where's our Nick Punto? "Defeats" is, perhaps, a little premature.

Wow, I haven't been signed up to this board for very long but this looks like the most inactive the game thread has been in my short experience. Is it a reflection of the Sox' lack of energy?

Pay Back Time at the Tinky Winky Dome
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) It's ok...we have three lefties ready to go off of the bench. No need to use one of them against a guy who's unhittable against righties. Well, at least not with a runner in scoring position.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Sorry, I won't answer questions from someone with under 100 posts. I wonder what the chances are that you'll make 22k before I make 100?

Pay Back Time at the Tinky Winky Dome
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) We need to get some runs this inning, or else we'll have our lesser hitters facing Crain/Rincon in the 7th/8th. I have no confidence in anyone besides our 3-4-5 right now. Fathom, is that true that you have over 21k posts?? I just noticed that. omfg!

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Wow, nice inning Freddy. Let's go JT, PK, MVP. I guess he's a little better if he didn't just get a lead.

Pay Back Time at the Tinky Winky Dome
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) if we get out of this inning only losing by 1, its a success True but the really sad thing is that that could have been said before the bottom of the inning started.

August 17th Game thread 1:05pm vs Kansas City
QUOTE(vandy125 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) I agree with that 1 inning thing, but isn't the 15 pitch thing kind of self-fulfilling? He would usually only need to throw 15 or more pitches if he is struggling. Bazingo.

Jon Garland
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) IMO the W/L record of a pitcher should no longer be kept as a stat. It's a damn shame that a guy like Johan Santana has to miss out on winning a Cy Young simply because he only won 16 games last year, quite the joke. Though you have a point, I disagree. Total wins partially measures a pitcher's ability to stay healthy, to pitch beyond the early innings, etc. W/L, especially in comparison to other pitchers on the same team, is indicative of a pitcher's ability to motivate his team to support him, etc. For a relief pitcher, to me it's an important stat because you certainly don't want a guy to come in and give up the game winning hit, though I concede that saves/opportunities certainly is good indicator for this. Besides, who would Denny McLain be without W/L records?

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) Good to get that run in. Too bad it wasn't in a gap. He hit it hard. Unlucky in some spots tonight with the lumber. Yeah, I've had that happen too...

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Fan reached out with his glove to get a ball down the line, deflecting it into the stands and likely preventing Uribe from scoring. Thanks.
