Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
I think there’s room on the roster for both even when everyone is healthy. Of course, I’d ask the Cubs to eat at least half of his remaining salary. Something like 3/$30M as the Sox responsibility for his remaining contract seems reasonable. Decent chance Eaton is gone after this season anyways. Heyward can serve as a bridge to the Cubans.

Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
I’ve been beating the Heyward drum since the offseason. All it costs is money and a non-prospect to acquire him. He can play all three OF positions and he hits righties decently well. Even if all the outfielders were healthy, he could still be used as a late inning defensive sub and possibly as a starter over Eaton depending on the matchup.

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Stoney nailed it back in January. https://mobile.twitter.com/stevestone/status/1355691966034370564

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Actually, you’re wrong. Reading through that thread, most posters thought it was a nice low risk high reward signing and better than other SP options like Q, Richards, and Hamels. Have you given the front office props for the signing?

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Nah, I spent 5 minutes reviewing the Rodon signing thread last night. Your initial reaction to the signing was “this is depressing” followed by those couple other nuggets. Like I said, you’ve got it all figured out. Haha

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Lol. I only point out positives? Tell that to Chisox59. For a guy that really wanted to sign Cole Hamels last winter (LOL) and believed Kopech wouldn’t start this year and we “couldn’t expect much from him this season” anyway, you sure seem to have it all figured out!

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
I agree with everything you say here. But it’s not what RR was arguing. I said the Sox are still the division favorite and he replied with a sarcastic “based on what”? If he were the GM he would have signed Paxton, Q, Pederson, And god only knows who else to really solidify the roster. I wonder what his thoughts were of the Rodon signing?

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
You have no idea what you’re taking about. See, the difference between you and me is that I’m objective. While you paint everything in a negative light (have you ever posted anything positive?), I point out the positives (this team is still loaded for several seasons regardless of what you think) and the negatives (Grandal bust signing, not extending McCann, missing on Harper). You think you’re a “real” fan because you’re critical of the organization at every step? In fact, you’re the furthest thing from a real fan with your constant negativity even when the team’s outlook has improved dramatically.

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Why is that?

TA7 Isn't going to let the ship sink
Why do you continue bringing this up? It’s 2021. A lot can happen over the next few years.
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
RR has all but said the Sox are done and “I told you so” before the season started, apparently, because they didn’t spend enough money last offseason on shoring up the roster. But I’m still not sure what he’s told us. He certainly hasn’t told us who he thinks will win the division now that the Sox are done. He thinks very highly of the Twins and Indians this year I guess.
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Nope. All you do is whine and complain. It’s that simple really.
-
TA7 Isn't going to let the ship sink
I’d move Vaughn and Grandal ahead of Eaton but otherwise works for me. Still the best offense in the division even without two studs.

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
You have no point. All you do is whine and complain.

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
You don’t think the White Sox will win the division but you aren’t willing to put yourself out there to say who will. Regarding the Sox lack of free agent spending, the free agents that they signed last offseason have fared better than 99% of the players posters on this site wanted to sign. Oh gosh, I remember the outrage when Joc Pederson signed with the Cubs! The “perfect” fit for the White Sox lol

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
And you still haven’t answered this very simple question. Who will win the AL Central in 2021?
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Then who is the division favorite? Put it out there so I can laugh at it 5 months from now.
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
I’m not ignoring them, I’m disagreeing with them. Everyone wanted to spend huge money on George Springer. How much has he helped the Blue Jays so far this season?
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
When is winning the division and making the playoffs irrelevant? That’s the entire goal of the regular season after all. Imo the Sox are in a better position today (even with the Robert injury) than any other ALCentral team to win the division. Do you disagree?
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
You didn’t answer the question
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Who’s the division favorite this season? And no I haven’t said the Sox are the division favorite in more than a decade so not sure what you’re talking about.
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Have you seen the rest of the division? Don’t think they have problems too?
-
The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Current betting odds (per DraftKings), odds to win AL Central in 2021: sox -155 twins +340 royals +400

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
If you’re expecting the Sox to spend like the Dodgers, Yankees or any of the top 5 spending teams in MLB, your expectations are way off base. Gripe about Jerry all you want but they aren’t going to run a top 5 payroll, they’re just not. So I’d suggest you realign your expectations in terms of payroll before complaining about it.

The Makings of a Juggernaut?
The Sox lost 2/3 of their starting outfield and are still the division favorite. What exactly did you tell us?
