  1. At this point in time, I’m not worried about there not being enough PAs to go around. Some guys will get hurt, some guys will not perform despite an extended look. This 40 man isn’t even close to having enough depth on the position player side. Maybe after another couple trades and FA signings they’ll be approaching that point.
  2. I thought so too. I figured he’d get close to Robert’s remaining contract in AAV (~$18M AAV). Maybe he will. But if he’s close to $12M AAV, that’s a steal imo and fills a big need because I’m not confident Montgomery sticks at SS.
  3. Explain to me how signing a quality mlb player like Kim is “wasting resources.” He’s projected to sign a 5 year deal at $12M AAV (“cheap” by today’s standards) and would immediately be the best or second best player on this team for the next couple years. He turned 29 in October so he’d be 31 in 2027 when I expect the team to start being competitive again. Nothing wrong with that.
  4. Says the guy that was devastated by breaking the loss record and continues to bring it up. Sounds like you want them to break it again!
  5. Why sign anyone if that’s the mentality? I mean, really? Why not just throw all the scrubs like Vargas, Deloach, and Amaya out there everyday if nothing matters anyways?
  6. Waste millions? We’re talking about a player that has been nearly as productive as Luis Robert over his mlb career with projections for a 5 year/$60M contract, cheaper AAV than both Benintendi and Robert. If the goal is to literally only field players making $2M or less, then they need to dump Robert and Vaughn asap and also eat whatever salary they need to move Benintendi.
  7. How is Kim a “utility guy” when he’s averaged 3.5 WAR over the past three seasons? I guess Luis Robert is a 4th outfielder then.
  8. So Kim is Juan Soto? Wtf are you talking about?
  9. So that means they shouldn’t sign any good players over the next 3 years?
  10. I believe we both thought it was Ha-Seong and he is certainly not a utility infielder.
  11. Yea, I want Ha-seong, not to be confused with Hye-seong like I just did
  12. They nearly have the same first name too. So confusing.
  13. I don’t want a dumpster dive SS either, I want Kim. He’s 29 years old. Don’t see why they couldn’t afford a 4 or 5 year contract for him at the projected AAV I’ve seen thrown out for him. edit: just saw he signed for 3, $22M. That’s a joke, Sox should have easily beat that..
  14. Meidroth will get a shot in 2025 but he’s fine starting the season in AAA. He’s only 23 and I’m not in a hurry to start the clock on any of these prospects if there are viable short term vets in front of them. I’m hoping they add a SS next but also wouldn’t be surprised if they roll with the Baldwin/Amaya combo there. I know Miami’s system has sucked recently but it’s still hard to believe Amaya was a T10 prospect for them. I guess the glove is good and that has some value.
  15. And along the lines of the infield being too crowded, which I think is a big stretch, I’d still love to see the Sox sign Kim to play SS. I know it won’t happen cuz Jerry but he’d be a great fit and provide stability at the position that is currently missing.
  16. In a perfect world, Baldwin and Meidroth start the season in AAA. Vargas and Sosa have seen plenty of AAA already and will be 25 years old when the season starts. It’s make or break time for them.
  17. Oh, they certainly will. All these FA guys are on one year contracts and I’d guess at least half are gone by August.
  18. That one might actually cost Jerry more than $5M
  19. This guy likely signed for like $2M, barely above league minimum. It has no bearing on whether or not they sign a free agent reliever. And, truthfully, what type of free agent reliever with closing ability are you expecting for less than $5M?
  20. I thought Rojas was a third baseman? If anything, doesn’t this mean Vargas is out as the starting 3b?
  21. Elias trade a top 20 mlb prospect? Yea right.
  22. Improve it substantially with what? All the top guys are off the board now. And no chance Elias touches Flaherty.
  23. They were 40-41 in the second half of 2024 and then swept by the Royals at home with a patchwork rotation. I’m not sure I’d call that success.
  24. Crazy how the Orioles title window already closed. Their starting rotation is trash and they have no help on the pitching front in the minors.
