This puzzles me. I thought they were just praised for dumping large contracts of old people and now they do this? If they arent getting money on this deal then they are out on Harper too.

I hope that is correct but everything that we have heard from the big gun reporters is that the Sox are very much a long shot with Harper. Even not as interested in him as they are MM. Heyman barely included the Sox in the conversation for Harper this morning on Mully and Haugh. It could all be inaccurate though so we shall see.

It appears that priority one for Sox is MM and priority one for Phil’s is Harper. Both are going to over pay for their number one priority. That’s the way this is going to play out this weekend boys. It’s clear to me now!

Madrigal wasn’t overwhelmingly good in his short stint down there so far I don’t believe either. Not sure where all the momentum has come of him being up in the bigs anytime soon.

I understand that but who floated the idea? Was it Sox brass? If it was they should have had floated it with the foresight that Machado might be a part of this thing. They have been looking to this offseason and hopefully signing him for over a year now.

If I remember correctly weren’t the Sox the ones who floated the idea of moving Moncada to third next year? They had to do that with the knowledge that they might acquire Machado in the off season. I just can’t remember if it was just speculation or if Moncada confirmed they floated that idea?....

Phillies pivoting and going after Pollock is any easy thing for a Sox fan to say. Their fanbase has been sold that their team was going to spend stupid money to get MM or Harper. Not sure pivoting is an option unless they are overwhelmingly outbid.

I hear you but Manny knows who his suitors are and knows they aren't going anywhere at this point. Its pretty clear Harper is waiting on Manny to sign until he makes his move. The teams shouldnt be waiting or holding up on any of their off season plans due to this negotiation. Hell this contract IS their off season plan.

I get the time it takes for all of this. There are multiple parties negotiating a contract in excess of 200 mil. They are going to take their time with every detail, this isn’t a video game or a fantasy sports league. Why would either side rush this to appease an awaiting public?
