  1. I have been seeing more national love for Blake since the trade. The response on here was less than enthusiastic and there were some articles out there initially that were saying the Yanks were down on him but it appears there are definitely some people who really like his game out there.
  2. Hes back. MLB Pipeline‏Verified account @MLBPipeline 5m5 minutes ago More Back with a jack. Luis Robert's 1st game since 7/4 (knee injury): 2-for-3, HR (2), BB. #WhiteSox No. 4/@MLB No. 26: http://atmlb.com/2mVv5oq
  3. I have been on his bandwagon since spring training. I think he will surprise a lot of people of how he can flat out rake.
  4. Dan Hayes‏Verified account @CSNHayes 9m9 minutes ago More #WhiteSox have purchased the contract of Nick Delmonico as Willy Garcia goes on the disabled list.
  5. Damn, this kid is not that far removed from being a pretty nice prospect with great numbers. This past year he has fallen off the map but bad years happen to good players all the time. Nice little gamble Hahn.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) Translation, No one wants Melky, and the Sox are slashing the price on him to get SOMETHING for him. Nah I think there are probably a couple teams who really have interest in him but not willing to dish out any money. I bet Hahn gets a little sumthin sumthin for Melky.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) Just gonna leave this here: https://rumbunter.com/2017/07/26/pittsburgh...-melky-cabrera/ Edit: after reading this, he really does make a lot of sense for the Pirates, especially the part where if they got hot and reached the post-season, Marte would be unavailable. Assuming the Sox ate close to all of the remaining salary in a deal with the Pirates, are we looking at a guy or two in the 15-30 range of their prospects? After following rumbunter for a couple months with anticipation of a potential Q trade to the Bucs I decided that I wish nothing but the worst for the Pirates just because of rumbunter.
  8. I cant believe training camp is already here. This summer has gone by so fast since half of it was rain.
  9. Nah Hahn said that scenario is ridiculous. Hahn wouldnt lie.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 08:18 AM) Carlos Quentin was the 20th rated prospect in baseball in 2006. I am not going to take the bait to try an argue that Cordell is TCQ. That isnt the point I was trying to make. I am just open to trying to understand what Hahn may see as best case scenario with this prospect. The guy has power and he is seemingly knocking at the door of the major leagues by the opinion of people who have actually watched the guy play.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) No, and there is nothing similar about their minor league stats. This guy has supposedly changed some things up, so maybe he is interesting. We will see, but apparently some alarms must be going off as the White Sox examine his medical records. Identical no. I love the absolutism that goes on around here. Cordell obviously isnt GOD. He had a lot less consistency but he possessed some solid power and OPS along the lines of what GOD produced.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) Carlos Quentin was a big time prospect that had sort of stalled out a bit in the DBacks system, wasn't he? I don't think Cordell's mom even thinks Cordell had the pedigree that TCQ had. Oh you have a negative take on Cordell? Please tell us more.
  13. Those stats were formatted in the post soooo much easier to read in the text box for the post then what actually got posted. Sorry.
  14. This looks similar to a TCQ type of acquisition. Of course, that would be best case scenario but all things considered I think that is along the lines of what Hahn was seeing in this kid. 15. Shack should be all up in this thread.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:27 PM) I didn't expect to trade two of the better relievers in baseball for s***, no. The league has never seen Swarzak as one of the better relievers, that is what counts.
  17. Shack did you expect a rebuild to be different? Swarzak off all people in the rebuild that has put you over the ledge? Cmon dude, not now.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) See, I couldn't disagree more. I don't like this much at all. We've already got like 2-3 guys that can play center field. Presumably, this guy will come up and play left when Melky is gone, but Adam Engel is actually deserving of playing time right now and I think when Garcia returns, he deserves another chance as well. Would have much rather gotten an intriguing arm or something. I get the Swarzak was signed as a minor league FA, but let's not ignore what he accomplished up here; nor should we ignore his stuff. Dude can bring mid-90's heat with a wicked slider that he currently has penchant for locating wherever the hell he wants. I'm frustrated by this idea of comparing the value a player had when he was initially signed with the value he received back when traded. What we need to be considering is the value the player has given his current performance. If that means we get some mediocre prospect who might become a 4th OFer if he's lucky, I'd prefer to just f***ing let the guy close for the rest of the year and see if he'll resign with you. I should probably wait until I actually see this guy play, because it sounds like he is one hell of an athlete, but we are not short on athletes, from what I understand. Why would you even care to re-sign him? Next year is a wash and the year after will he even be good anymore? If there were some intriguing young arms being offered Im confident that Hahn would have jumped on it. Once again there is a lot of over estimation of realistic pieces that Hahn was likely being offered. Reality is probably far from all the assumptions that are being made.
  19. This was a fantastic return. I honestly can't believe Hahn got anything that he could possibly flip or maybe even a guy who could stick. It's a lotto to cket and not a powerball ticket but still pretty awesome if you win either.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) I'd prefer a couple of young left handers with upside since we're still lacking in the system there, but in either case, definitely a couple of lotto young players. I have no interest in making trades based on position or what hand someone throws the ball. Every trade, especially right now, should be best player available regardless of position IMHO. We have plenty of time to fill in the gaps and really shouldnt be getting too cute right now.
  21. I dont know if he goes anywhere but I do know he has done a damn good job at increasing his trade value. Cheers to Anthony on that.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) Isn't that the fun of watching as they make their debuts? Totally, I am only partially being serious. But it could also be somewhat torturous once they go through the eventual growing pains and everyone doubts they are even major leaguers. LOL
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) Eh you'll get to watch Rey and Gio and Yoan on a regular basis. The excitement of what may be is so much more fun than what is.
  24. This year has been a blast. Next year...will not be a blast.
  25. The only rationale I could have against WAR in certain scenarios is that a team may be in a situation that they are desperately in need of a bat. A guy like Melky may hold more value to that team for their line up with his offensive potential and not care as much about his defensive and base running but it still doesn't change the fact that his WAR is still the best representation of his over all value in general.
