  1. LP always brings me back to the Friday nights at the pool hall. They would play them on rotation with the jukebox. Weird thing is that it feels like a part of the moments at the pool hall that I remember kinda died today too. If that makes any sense.
  2. Just watching some videos on him and I think its pretty obvious he has a long way to go with that swing. He has to shorten it up a bunch, its long and he seems to be off balance on a lot of stuff even when he connects. Not gonna have any power when you are off balance.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) Yeah, I get it. I watch sports too. I think there is a case to be made that this guy is here to stay now. That case is backed by actual data, unlike the case of Avi, perhaps, and therefore it is reasonable to suggest that this may be the beginning of something, rather than a flash in the pan. That's all the argument is. Then folks started throwing the injury stuff into the equation, when, it probably isn't warranted in the case of Kahnle, or at least not more than any other 28 year old pitcher in his 4th year as a professional. By this measure, should we trade Rodon for whatever we can get after he gets his feet under him a bit? Since he might need tjs? Actually I have thought about that one.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Really? How much higher can Kopech be ranked? Maybe a little higher, but if he gets hurt, he's worthless. It's pretty much the same thing except you can get more for Kopech than Kahnle. And their ages are different. Their investment was different. Their roles are different.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) For those of you who want to get mad at Hahn, JR, the Q trade, the "lacking Gleyber Torres" move for Kahnle, you can watch this in order to get even more upset. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=milb Mr. T-Junior does have 20 errors in 82 games at SS, so there's that. And 30-45 error seasons are not uncommon at that level. So I'll take the more positive approach of being wowed we scouted him so well originally and got by with a fairly middling contract offer compared to what he would get today on the open market. Seriously? A Tatis video in this thread?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) That I understand, but shouldn't they think about dealing Kopech? Strike while the iron is hot. Why risk injury? I get trading Kahnle. I just don't get the he might get hurt, look at Nate Jones, posts. Everyone might get hurt. Apple meet orange.
  7. I am not in the belief that Rick is going to just give anyone away in this rebuild. Now I know some might not agree with that LOL I wouldnt put it past Rick to get a top 100 at the very bottom type guy for Swarzak. Someone is going to get desperate after they strike out landing the other guys.
  8. Hahn is not in denial of the fact that he is making gambles with each trade that he has made. Its just not likely to get teams to make deals that give an overwhelming amount back to negate all the risk. Every once in a while you can swindle some dumb GM to give it all but that is few and far between. Remember all the years we were in buyers mode? We would never be willing to give up three of our best prospects for anyone and those guys sucked.
  9. Damn this has been entertaining. Whether you like the trade or not it was still a lot of fun last night. The back and forth about if it was a bad trade or not is all good stuff as far as I am concerned. This is why I follow my favorite teams and this is why I love soxtalk. Not everyone is going to agree and the conversations from that are really interesting to follow.
  10. What the hell?! I've been trying to follow this at the gym. I should have just stayed home.
  11. Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 2m2 minutes ago More #whitesox closer David Robertson: "I'm still here. That's all I got."
  12. I am sure its been said in gamethreads.
  13. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) I keep reading that this deal was "by far" the best offer on this thread. Does anyone have any empirical proof of this? Because if the Cubs actually gave the biggest return by a wide margin, then it wasn't a bad deal. I'd really like to see some sort of proof of that, though. We can only go by what Rick Hahn says.
  14. Jon Heyman‏Verified account @JonHeyman 30m30 minutes ago More have heard redsox very much like old friend jed lowrie, too, as written before. so he's a possibility for them to play 3B as well.
  15. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) Dang...I actually am in marketing...is it that obvious!? haha Yeah I knew it. LOL
  16. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 08:55 AM) Exactly. Many people have confused our rebuild with a "fire sale." This is not a fire sale as much as an asset reallocation project. We are simply transferring present value to the highest probability of future value. Are you in marketing? Damn thats a nice way of putting a fire sale. LOL
  17. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 07:01 PM) Could see someone like Adolfo and Delmonico being a few of those guys For the record I wanna say I LOVE Delmonico offensively. I seen him in person in spring training and I know for sure the dude is a ML hitter. No doubt.
  18. Sam Leweck a Red Sox writer says it can happen tonight but it isn't iminent.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) It's about Gray to cubs IMO due to barstool Carl's tweet about showing Sonny around Chicago That one seemed separate though. I can't see Dave caring enough about Gray to Cubs. I can't believe we are discussing this. LOL
  20. Whitesox Dave has been eye balling a lot again too.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 08:59 PM) I'm kinda lost actually. Was that real or a joke? Rabbit said he is hearing its done but can't confirm
  22. rabbit was great as he always has been. I think he has been on the Score a couple times and he was just as articulate and seamless in explaining as the long time guests that come on.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) Yes C: Collins 1b: Sheets 2b: Moncada SS: 3B: Burger LF: Jimenez CF: Robert RF: Basabe Plug Anderson in at short if he can fix his defensive issues, maybe sign Machado, and the Sox could have a dynamic line up in 2-3 years That's my worry. This scenario is if ALL pan out.
  24. So now that our three biggest assets have been traded at the start of this rebuild a HUGE need was to acquire the young positional talent with transcending offense potential. While I am happy with the top end guys that he has acquired so far the only reservation I have is that he may not have received enough back offensively. Dont get me wrong, im not extremely concerned because I do love what he has added so far including the draft picks but we all know that not everyone of these guys are going to pan out so you need to overflow as much as you can. Should he have added more depth for our future offense to account for misses with the elite guys?
