  1. I am confused on Soto because I dont really keep up with any minor league stats. Is he not the catcher who just a couple months ago people were saying is going to be a solid back up in the league for a long time? Is his numbers and reputation skyrocketed that high in a couple of months to basically be an untouchable in a trade for the best available closer to a team that is in desperation?
  2. The Nationals really arent in a position of leverage here. If the Sox want Robles or Soto+ and the Nats are interested then fine. There are plenty of other teams that need bullpen help and realize you have to pay a steep price to acquire the good ones.
  3. Jon Morosi‏Verified account @jonmorosi 2m2 minutes ago More Sources: #Nationals showing interest in #Reds closer Raisel Iglesias. He has a 1.59 ERA, 15 of 16 in save opportunities. @MLB @MLBNetwork
  4. I am as big of a Schwarber fan that is also a Sox fan that you will find but I dont think putting him down there in the time that they did is going to change much of his outcomes in the big leagues. He needed a longer mental break IMO. That was the whole point of sending him down I thought. Did they really want him to just work on mechanics and have his minor league production to be the indicator of when to bring him back up? I knew he would hit minor league pitching immediately.
  5. Casey Stern‏Verified account @CaseyStern 3m3 minutes ago More Ned Yost told me in no uncertain terms, that the #Royals will buy NOT sell at the deadline. "We're going for this thing." @MLBNetworkRadio
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) Huh? I don't think he is implying he heard anything. So are you saying you heard something different??? Hmmmmmm
  7. Pretty sweet that Robertson is probably the best closer on the market at the deadline. Thankfully the Nationals ownership nixed the deal earlier because I think he is going to be able to net us a lot more now. Considering what the trades for relief pitchers brought back to teams last year this should be fun.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 07:40 AM) http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...ticle-1.3288375 Article from the NYDN this morning about how Yanks should go after Quintana and Robertson with scout quotes. Here are a couple snippets. Here’s what that probably means: one player would be Clint Frazier or Blake Rutherford; another would be Chance Adams or Justus Sheffield; and then someone like Wade or Andujar, as well as a younger pitcher like Albert Abreu. That’s not unreasonable to get two pitchers who could put the Yankees over the top this season and be here beyond 2017, especially with all of the young talent they have to absorb such a hit to their farm system. It also mentions that they might have to beat Houston to the punch That sounds like fun.
  9. Oh god no. The man chews his food while he is talking on the phone doing interviews. He is disqualified just because of that in my opinion.
  10. I think this is a good thread. It allows everyone to know in the future to not waste time reading future posts of its creator.
  11. He was still really salty on the radio this afternoon. He was making excuses as to why Contreras is able to throw out runners at a better rate than him. Basically saying its not because Contreras is better hes just getting better opportunity than him. And then yeah, there is the whole maybe Rizzo misses Ross thing. LOL I am frankly surprised Montero wasnt just let go before this season started.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) I think for those that have the view of its either win a championship or blow things up...then sure, you don't like the move cause I don't think they win the championship. That said, does this move make Houston a better team...yes, it does. Everyone gets so enamored with if we can't win a title we should just blow everything up...but reality is, no one ever knows what happens and most of the recent teams that won championships never had that "bottom out" to win moment (with exception of Cleveland which obviously got LBJ the first time...the second time they did suck, but it was really him going home via free agency which changed the direction of the club). San Antonio could have been blown up a few times in between their championship runs and the Lakers won a couple titles after Shaq left (and during a window where a lot of people wanted to "blow" the Lakers up). I don't know Houston's cap position but I presume they are going to try and outscore the world in D'Antoni's system and will see if they can attract another piece in a year (not sure cap space so maybe that isn't feasible). They also made no LT commitment to CP3. Didnt it take people quite a while to envision the Warriors as a legit championship contender? I think you are right and the dark place in the back of my mind had that thought before we traded Jimmy thinking you never know what pieces you can add along the way and gradually mold something that is legitimate.
  13. Is it me or do the Cubs not quite have that same magic going on as they did last year?
  14. From all the reports I have heard up until this point from insiders is that there is virtually no interest in Frazier. Swihart is exactly the kind of guy you should expect to get back in a trade and honestly should be happy to even get a guy like him. There is no market for him , face reality folks.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) Mark Buehrle is not an ace is right up there for me along with the Ronald McDonald thread, and a couple of others. But this is an all-time great. I will never forget the exhilarating moment of trying to create that thread before he noticed he left his account up on the computer. I knew I had a small window of opportunity and he could walk in the office at any moment.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) I don't understand why you keep saying "stat lovers." How do you tell how good a baseball player is? By how well they wear their uniform? Obviously by their TWTW aura.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) The Cubs ruined it for everyone. Now all franchises know the the fans will accept years of being bad because "rebuilding" is now fashionable. Tear down the team, tell the fans this is the right way to rebuild the team and the fans accept it. In the good old days a bad team was just a bad team. Now the fans "embrace the tank" You can't possibly compare what the Hawks are doing right now to a tear down.
  18. You really cant feel too bad when the Hawks trade a player that we love because there is still a good chance they are just going to reacquire him down the road.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Wow, what a crazy day. Seriously, I am just seeing these Hawks trades now and I think....I think its just too much for me to absorb in 24 hours of fandom.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) Markkanen just did a (painful) interview on Spiegel and Parkins and said Wade is one of his favorite players. So, there is that LOL Painful interviews are always funny to me.
  21. I can honestly see the Bulls being one of the worst teams in the league for the next five years. Gar will f*** up most of the high draft picks if not all and no one that matters will want to come to these douchebags in FA. They already had a bad rep around the league now you have another two players in Jimmy and Wade to vouch for it.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Also I don't buy the best deal crap at all. They decided what best deal was. They could have traded Taj/Doug for draft picks, they did not, they got a bunch of young players that Gar had a hardon for We know the bulls were hot and sweaty for Dunn. They valued getting a young-oldish prospect over future a bunch of flexible assets like draft picks while also becoming a worse team for high lotto picks. This is them thinking they can build on the run. They will fail, because they are bad at evaluating talent, and continue to have a strong preference for older college players. Dammit bmags you are making me even more mad now. Where is my god damn pitchfork?
  23. By accepting this as a win just because they decided to pick a lane and do the rebuild would lead me down the same road they have dragged me down as a fan for years now. I am really tired of giving them the benefit of the doubt. Trying to rationalize every move that they make to being whats best for the team in the grand scheme of things. f*** that. I cant ignore the fact that they accepted a terrible return for JB, this trade mattered to this rebuild. I give GarPax no credit, they are pathetic.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 06:50 AM) How can a mod sit here and not deem this trolling? No one in their right mind could picture Tim Anderson as a f***ing catcher. It's beyond laughable. I deem it trolling. Now what?
  25. I really don't think Q ever lost value. He probably made SOME people within other organizations have a little hesitation but ultimately his body of work is going to outweigh what he did in his first two months of this season for the teams that are smart enough. The only thing that would have hurt his value is if there was an injury that was causing this.
