QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ May 18, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) There is no way in hell that Robertson brings back Robles. Rizzo would hang up the phone on that ask and instruct Hahn to call back when he is serious. Robertson is severely overvalued around these parts. He is not that good and won't bring back much at all. He is probably the best option out there and it would be for a desperate team needing a closer. Market value is different from actual value. I agree he probably doesnt bring back Robles but I think you are underestimating what he could bring back. to say he wont bring back much at all.

Why do I remember Hawkins being in the middle of turmoil at a couple of the stops he had?

I have a feeling that we arent going to get out of this one easy. It would be too easy for Trump to get impeached. This country seems to deserve at least 4 years of misfortune for its ignorant ways. The fact that we would elect and continue to defend the presidency of this reality show clown proves we need to hit a rock bottom before we can start to rebuild.

I think Ace was just saying that he preferred Happ over Candelario. Not Moncada.

QUOTE (Wanne @ May 16, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) Personally a guy I like from the Nats is Stevenson...he could man CF for me any day. This sounds very romantic.

So let me get this straight. Everyone wants the Cubs three best prospects in return and are a no on Schwarber?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 15, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) So Hamilton tickets are over $200 minimum face value? Ouch, we were looking into them this weekend, I did not expect that. It seems like they will never go down. I have been keeping my eye on them for a while because I just cant see droppingover 500 for a set.

Jon HeymanVerified account @JonHeyman 5m5 minutes ago More David Robertson is dealing -- and not only nats but their rival mets need a closer now @DRob30

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) Should we just re-name this the "Contender blew a save" thread? Or the TRADE HIM NOW thread. As if things were that simple to just immediately trade a player once they have a good outing or when a scenario presents itself due to an injury. Those are the only elements that go into making trades.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 9, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Kyle Schwarber may be the most hyped career .226 hitter with less than 2 career WAR in MLB history. You would think the HOF for him is just a formality. His career fWAR is exactly the same as Tyler Saladino's. Hype is often a product of what people see as potential for a guy. You can definitely see super hero type potential in a guy with his power and his natural offensive ability. He may never fulfill that potential but if he gets close it will be scary.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I know on twitter a couple days ago he made a couple posts that a close friend/brother? passed away. The guy looked about the same age as Tim. I know something like that is so difficult to deal with not sure we will see the Tim Anderson we would like to see for a while.

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 5, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) Agreed, he was always a pretty good listen on The Jay Cutler show as well. The couple times I listened to that show I was shocked at how cool he seemed. Kind of ironic that the media brought out the worst side of Jay and now he will be a part of it.

5/4 - White Sox @ Royals Game Thread
shipps replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in 2017 Season in Review
Wow what a short game thread for being in the 7th inning. I know its a Thursday afternoon and all but still. -
There is a hell of a lot that would have to fall into place for the perfect whitesox scenario. Its really not going to happen the way you want it to but thankfully no matter what happens Q is a beast of a starting pitcher with a great contract and provides great leadership. There are going to be other SP's that fall into play that will be available but there will be enough teams wanting it and not very many if any available that are a better pick up than Q. Teams trading for him have to be thinking about even further down the road than this season.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 3, 2017 -> 08:01 AM) Q's ERA is now 4.10 and his WHIP is 1.31. It's May 3rd. He'll be fine and get the Sox a haul whenever they trade him. I was told oon here maybe 2 weeks ago that it wasnt mathematically likely for him to turn it around and have a respectable ERA this season. :o

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 2, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) The rage is strong in this one. If Fox is going to be gone, then what is the point of having him as a coach this year? Wouldnt it have been smarter to fire Fox, then hire a coach and then get that coach's input on the QB that they would eventually groom? I dont even know where to begin with the rest of your statements. NFL rookie contract is generally 4 years, if Fox is HC for 1 year, thats 25% of the contract. Im not sure that is "no impact." Not to mention hell have to learn Fox's scheme and then next year learn a new scheme. Again, I dont know if thats "no impact." As to the rest, thats your opinion. We are on a message board, people are entitled to have whatever opinion they want. But there is no reason to rage about some one else disagreeing with your opinion. A few years from now we can all look back and see who is right or wrong. I really appreciate that you have kept this attitude as there has been a lot of back and forth in this thread here lately.

White Sox Option Jacob May, recall Willy Garcia
shipps replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2017 -> 07:51 AM) Almost has to be Garcia. Need a CF, and he's been playing some games there for this reason. The only true CF in Charlotte is Adam Engel, who opened the season ice cold and doesn't seem ready (though he has heated up in the last week or so). I don't think they'll do that to Engel. There is a small chance it could be Jason Bourgeois, who has also played some CF, but he's not on the 40-man so I really doubt it. I thought we traded him to Tampa. Who am I confusing him with? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) Maybe in the scouting and combine process they saw something they couldn't live without. I guess my timeline is all out of sorts. I thought most of that was completed before they signed Glennon.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ May 1, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) Pace on the Score right now He really lit up talking about Cohen, compared him to Sproles (no surprise). Envision using him as a dynamic 3rd down back putting him in space to do his thing. I am still confused to how they handled bringing in Glennon. When they brought him in it doesn't seem like they envisioned taking a QB in the draft. Yet, when the draft came around they were willing to bend over backwards to get one no matter what it took. When did they realize that they would have a shot a one? Why did it take them so long to think they had a shot at him? From the start they should have known it was a possibility that they could get Trubisky and by the time they signed Glennon that should have already came to a conclusion on what QB they would want in the draft.
-
I dont know if Pace is anticipating how long he might have left as a GM. I think he just did so much work on Trubisky and was so convinced that he was the guy he felt like he had to make the move to leave no doubt that something could have fallen through and he missed out on him. Pace has said from the start getting the QB position shored up was the most important piece to this whole thing. He just flat out loves Trubisky and in his mind KNOWS he is going to be special. Honestly, the fact that Pace is so sold on him makes me feel pretty comfortable that he is going to be the goods. I realize I can totally get screwed on this way of thinking and if thats the case I will be there with my pitchfork like all the rest of you guys. LOL
-
I have been supportive of Pace and I have admittedly liked his move to identify his franchise QB and go get him but as the other picks came through and I have had time to think on them I am really worried about his draft as a whole. It feels like an Emery draft where he is trying to find a diamond in the rough with each pick instead of drafting a nice safe pick that makes sense for the team right now. His draft definitely felt like a scout was running it and we have seen where that gets us in previous years. I will still hope for the best though and wait to see what these guys can do. It still all will hinge upon Trubisky, if he hits with him all the other picks will be forgiven if they bust. That may not be right but thats what will happen.
