  1. Bears grab the Alabama safety in Jackson
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 12:21 AM) Supposedly, Trubisky got booed at the Bulls game. If true, that is f***ing disgraceful. Ha! They are willing to spend money to go and blindly cheer for a team like the Bulls yet boo a guy most have never seen play? Not that is matters but I am taking names and notes of the past couple days. Mitch might not turn out but I want to know who's opinion I will no longer trust if he does LOL.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) http://walterfootball.com/draft2017QB.php Trubisky has more of a second-round-caliber skill set, but what teams love about him his accuracy in the short to intermediate part of the field. They also feel he was the most consistent quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft. Some teams have had second-day grades on many quarterbacks who ended up going as top-32 picks. Sources from three different teams told me they graded Trubisky in Round 2, but other teams have him graded as a first-rounder. One playoff general manager told WalterFootball.com that they rate Trubisky the highest because he has the tools to play with accuracy and athleticism. Read more at http://walterfootball.com/draft2017QB.php#...TydP3fVvHkdk.99 I can find more if you like. And the reason why Peterman makes more sense is because in football it is all about depth and most assets possible. I like Peterman, to me you can get him for a cheap price and there is a possibility he is the best QB in the draft. That is the type of value Russel Wilson presented years ago or Dak Prescott last year. Not saying that every guy like that pans out, but not every 1st round pick does either. In fact right now, a bunch of HOF Qbs werent picked top 5, Brady, Brees were both outside of 1st round and Rodgers was back half of the first. Sure you get guys like Manning, Luck, etc, but those guys had years of tape to go over. Trubisky has 1 season, did not play in a pro-offense and played almost no snaps under center. I mean best hope is Cam Newton comparison, but he isnt nearly as physical. Again this is all just my personal opinion based on what Ive seen. Sometimes Im right, sometimes Im wrong. So you give me some source called walterfootball who mentions that he thinks Trubisky has more of a second round skill set and in the same post you try to tell me you think Peterman has the possibility as the best QB in the draft by which that same walterfootball said could potentially be a developmental backup. Jesus we just arent going to agree soxbadger. Its cool.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) I dont think hed have had a first round grade if he was in another class. I think his grade is based on scarcity and the idea that the top QBs get boosted grades. With this class being really weak at QB, all of the QBs got boosted grades because no matter what some team is going to pick a QB. That being said, many places had him graded as a 2nd round pick. I think (in this class) he should have gone mid first. But as a Bears fan, Id rather have had them go a different direction, pick Peterman from Pitt and then maybe get a shot at a QB in next years class. But thats just my opinion. Where have you seen that? Nowhere have I seen him graded as a second. And you want them to waste the oh so valuable 2-3nd rd pick on Peterman as a throw away (just to show that you are trying to draft a QB at least) because he certainly isnt rated higher than Trubisky just to put off getting "THE GUY" next year possibly?
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) 5-8 teams every year "could take" a QB, and when they have a first round grade on them, they get very antsy to get them before the second. Tall athletic males with strong arms and good accuracy in a power 5 conference who succeeded in non-super-gimmicky offenses, and have no character concerns, tend to go in the first round. Many that fail at one or two of those but have a strong arm go in the first anyway. But if you check all of those boxes you are certainly going first round. A reminder that Tim Tebow was a first round pick! If there is a deep QB draft with 5 first round grades and seemingly only 3 teams looking, 5 will get drafted. I'm sure there is an outlier but QBs people expect to go in the first go in the first, and QBs people expect to go in the second also often go in the first. What this guy said.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) Well this is impossible to guess at but I think youre wrong. 2001, only 1 QB was picked in first (Vick) Brees went in 2nd. 2005, 3 QBs taken in 1st (Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Jason Campbell), unclear if hed grade out above Campbell. Lets go more recent. 2016- probably comparable to Paxton Lynch, may have been late 1st, maybe early 2nd. 2015- May have been late first, but graded out under Mariotta/Winston. 2014- Better than Carr/Garrapolo? Unclear so likely 2nd. 2013- Definitely would have been 1st. This class is most comparable to this years. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?type=position The issue is that this is one of the weakest drafts at QB since 2013. I think 2013 is worse, but again not one QB went in the top 10 that year. This is entirely speculative, but I think that in 2014 Trubisky would have absolutely been a 2nd rounder at best. Nice effort but this doesnt prove much at all, like you said its impossible to guess at.
  7. LOL What team is going to admit what they were doing? Especially while the draft has only completed the first round?! Good lord.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) I can honestly say I hate the line of thinking on number 9 there. But you're going to be hearing it until the season starts. Why? Its true. I dont think this is a case that there was no price to large for Pace to trade spots as some have assumed. We arent talking as if he gave up future number 1-2's to get there. Yes, third round picks can really valuable but you can also find ways to obtain some yourself. Not something you can really do if you would have traded a 1-2nd rounder. Can we at least let the draft play out before we jump off the bridge? (not speaking about you rowand)
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Is there a reason people don't like Trubisky? I thought he was the favored QB on here. I would have been terrified of Watson even if supportive of the "well he wins and he seems nice". BECAUSE THE BEARS ARE A JOKE THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN HIM BY (Insert 5 scenarios that we have no idea even existed). SAME OL BEARS, TRUBINSKY IS BAD I SEEN HIM PLAY ONE TIME AND HE THROWS FROM HIS BACK FOOT.
  10. Its likely the Bears can swap spots with someone in the second for another third isnt it?
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) I love it. Trubisky wasn't my top QB but Pace put his nuts on the table. I wanted them to have conviction and take the QB that they liked best. This is where franchise QB's are taken. They were getting offers for the 3rd pick for a QB, so they jumped up a spot and got him. They'll recoup picks tonight but that's not the point. He isn't being safe. I loved his comments last night at the press conference about being aggressive. In order to win consistently you need a long-term answer at QB. If Trubisky hits, nobody will care what the cost was. If it doesn't, Pace will probably get fired. It definitely buys him some time though. Personally, I'm glad he had the balls to do it. High 5 to ya. I am with this all the way.
  12. I like the pick and the trade is also fine by me too. We dont know what was going on behind the scenes that lead Pace to believe he had to make that trade. Hell no one knew the Bears were in a position to loving Trubisky as much as they did so why is it so far fetched that another team was just as anxious? I am glad the Bears had a conviction with a QB and made it happen. I was truly tired of putting off the QB position year in and year out with drafting late round picks hoping to strike some sort of gold that never existed. Bottom line is that no one trusts the Bears to do anything right so the natural reaction was to assume the worst in this entire scenario. Lets see how this all plays out. I am really excited to watch this guy get out there and sling it.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:40 PM) What shrewd move are you referring to? I have yet to see one Look it's really easy to give them no benefit of the doubt because we have frankly been burned far too many times to do that but if they knew that Mitch was their guy from all the work they have done and they ALSO knew there was a good chance they wouldn't get him because the Browns were going to make that trade to get him then they done the right thing. Now if they made that trade thinking the niners were going to get him then yeah they made a mistake.
  14. You guys complain every year that they don't address the Qb position. They finally make a shrewd move to get one because if they didn't it's likely someone else was entertaining a trade with San Fran to get Trubisky, the guy Pace identifies as "the guy" and you all lose ur s*** over a couple third rounders.
  15. If the Bears didn't make that trade I presume the Browns were going to do something similar and get trubisky. Pace loved him and knew what he had to do to get him. I am fine with it.
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) Why do I get the feeling the Bears shock the world and take Trubisky? God dammit shipps.
  17. Why do I get the feeling the Bears shock the world and take Trubisky?
  18. Him doing a zoolander on the right is freaking lovely.
  19. I am all for the advanced metrics but when you tell me a guy like Avi has been meh the past few weeks it totally confuses me and makes me question life itself.
  20. Watch there be no trades and everyone makes sensible picks that don't really surprise anyone.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) I did. I put Watson in my official mock draft too. Things change though. People I talk to don't think that happens currently. This has been the most flip flop across the board of mock drafts that I have ever seen. No one has any idea of what is going to happen.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:12 AM) I hope they take Watson just to see the meltdown. Would there be a melt down? I think Bears fans would be pumped after about 15 minutes of that setting in.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Great minds...... Ah ha, I see. LOL
  24. Best case scenario for me. Bears take Adams and then trade up into the first to get a QB.
  25. Ian Rapoport‏Verified account @RapSheet Following More My understanding is the #Browns have contacted roughly 27 teams gauging interest in moving up or down. Contingencies upon contingencies. The Browns are scrambling all over the place almost certainly to ensure they screw this thing up.
