QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) Why would the White Sox say they have the best offer? Of course they will downplay their offer. Again, if all Baltimore is going to get is second tier guys, there is no incentive for them to trade him. Im trying to figure out why they commented at all on their offer. No problem with letting the public think they have the best offer if they did or didnt.

Chuck GarfienVerified account @ChuckGarfien Following Following @ChuckGarfien More Hahn said White Sox submitted a presentation to Otani earlier this week. He thinks it's "a long shot" they'll be able to sign him. "We'll give it our best shot.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) No, that's how these sort of deals work. They're charging him with something fairly minimal, but the plea agreement specifically says "this isn't all that we know." Flynn is well aware and I'm sure discussions included numerous other charges they were ready to bring if he didn't cooperate. Okay so the fact that he is even being offered such a lesser charge against him proves that whatever he can give Mueller must be f***ing juicy otherwise he would have been in jail for the rest of his life.
-
Does the fact that Flynn is only pleading guilty to something of a lesser charge then say, espionage, indicate that there isn't going to be as extreme ramifications as we think coming to Trump?

I still see moves like this as potential mid season flips for more prospects. We arent out of that phase quite yet. If he has a first half as good as he did last year he will be a nice trade chip.

I have finally stopped listening to Goff and Bernstein. Its not that I disagree with any of their political stances that they take on the show. I support most if not all that they are typically trying to bring to the forefront. Its just that their show is no fun, like whatsoever. The issues that they try to address on a daily basis I actually support them on and I am not even suggesting they stop fighting the good fight on air. If they feel personally that they need to use their job as a platform to shed light to any social injustices then the more power to them. I just find no entertainment value to their show at all.

I think Jose would probably sign a contract lower than market value to stay with Sox. He loves it here, he feels loyal to the org, and is motivated to help grow the young talent.

George Ofman @georgeofman Following Following @georgeofman More Confirming talks between White-sox and Red sox for Abreu but told it probably will take an offer Rick Hahn can't refuse. Remember, Bosox GM Dave Dombrowski is not shy about trading prospects. Remember Sale for Moncada, Kopech and two others? @WBBMNewsradio

Fangraphs warns Sawks to not trade JBJ for Abreu. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/dont-trade-...for-jose-abreu/ Over the last three years, Bradley and Abreu have produced roughly equivalent WAR totals despite Bradley getting 600 fewer plate appearances. Abreu’s clearly a better hitter, but there’s a huge gap in baserunning value, so the offensive difference has only been about worth 10 runs per 600 PAs, and Bradley’s outstanding defense in center field is clearly worth more than Abreu’s mediocre defense at first base. Bradley’s WAR isn’t inflated by some huge UZR numbers either; in fact, the public perception is that Bradley is more valuable defensively than our fielding numbers suggest.

I know we love Jose and most of appreciate what he has brought to our team but I am ecstatic that there is even this strong of a market for him right now. Considering last season there was close to none and leading up until now it seemed to be projecting to have very little of a market with all the other FA's and trades available out there.

MLB should try some way to level the playing field on this group of guys that are out there. Give each team a separate cap reserved only for this group. You cant spend any of accumulated amount. Every one will be equal. Its more fair to the teams and the players who are choosing.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) It seems the reason anyone would buy that particular plane is to fly a bit irresponsibly. Its like how crotch rockets are to motorcycles.

Jose Abreu with 1st Sox cycle in 17 years

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) I've sensed a lot of anti Abreu talk on the site. You haven't? People want him traded. People ignoring his 31/90 like it's nothing. I've given people a chance on my praise Jose posts. Silence. You haven't read the posts saying if we can get anything good get rid of Jose? I've said we need some hard core older White Sox when we get good again to go with the kids. Silence. Why would you block a die-hard Sox fan. Cause his opinion differs from yours? Sure I get mad when I feel like people are dissing Abreu and Davidson. I get frustrated. So I keep trying to sway opinion or at least get somebody to offer some praise, in this case Jose and/or Davidson. Now a guy like Saladino? In the past I praised him as well. People said he was utility at best. They were right. I was wrong. I admit it and shut up. Saladino is no good. I do agree. No but when someone floats around opinions such as Tim Anderson should be moved to catcher people tend to not want to waste their time reading that. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/08/29/chi...ic-expectations Thought this was a really really good read. Agree with pretty much everything he says, with the obvious key how the QB position emerges, especially in the second half of the season. Highly possible we are going to get dug into a big hole with that start of the season, but if we could put on a strong finish, from Fox's perspective, it could be the way to save his job (and I don't think he's a bad coach and I like the idea of continuity and him staying around vs. restarting thing) while creating good positive momentum for 2018. Trubisky is key to all of this, but defense is so much better than a few years ago, albeit we still have a lack of playmakers in the secondary. To be honest, we are a developed QB, a wideout, and a strong DB from being what I'd call a damn good team. The QB is the hard piece, but we have a guy who could be that with time (he may not too...but we've at least invested in a guy who has a shot at doing that). Knowing this is going to be a process and the start of the year might be rough (and I think we should all recognize that) but big picture, It has been a long time when I've been this excited looking forward as a Bear fan!!! Fox cant really buy another year can he? If he stays they have to give him an extension because I dont really see him going into a lame duck year. Its possible but not sure thats a good situation for either side.

sox marketing technique - acquiring attractive players

The first thing my wife said when I was getting all excited for Yoan's first game was, wow he's a good looking guy. Of course I agreed and asked her why do you think I am so excited! -
The way this is trending after the Bears were sooooooo interested in going out of their way to make sure everyone knew Glennon was the guy since Trubisky was drafted it sure as hell seems like Trubisky starts week one.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) Taking the kids to one of those massive waterparks in the Dells his weekend. Either the best idea ever or the worst idea ever. Luckily we have grandparents coming to help corral the little ones. The Dells is awesome. Its a close drive from Chicago so you don't have to worry about going through the chaos of airport travelling with kids. It doesn't drain your pockets for money since the waterpark is included with your hotel stay and the food is simple and easy for the kids. As opposed to taking the kids out of town, going through airports, feeding them at fancy restaurants every meal out of convenience, paying for every theme park/tourist spot throughout the trip.

Nicky can rake. He may not be worth a damn defensively but the dude is a natural hitter.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) The worst of all this was Delmonico hitting a HR at Fenway and having nowhere to go for reaction. Was awful. Honestly that was my biggest slap in the face of this all too. Other than that I think I could have made it okay.
