dan durkinVerified account @djdurkin Following More Ryan Pace last week in Indy: "Ideally in free agency, we're addressing most of our needs to allow the draft to be best-player-available." I am starting to believe that Pace had a completely different reality of FA playing out in his mind. Now what Pace?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Im not sure why anyone ever has optimism for the Bears. I guess because pessimism isnt really much fun.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) Been gone for a day, and not the biggest Bears fan, but let me see if I have this right. - The Bears have been biding against themselves in this process for Glennon, and are probably going to pay him 4-5 million more a year than anyone else would. -Even the most optimistic supporters seem to agree he is stopgap option and the Bears need to start drafting QB's ASAP. -Jay Cutler is still under contract and on the roster. -Argulabily the Bears biggest need, CB, was going to be filled by the best CB on the market, but instead went to the Patriots because the Bears low-balled him. Good enough for he Super Bowl Champs, but not good enough for the Bears. That about it? Yeah. Cutler should be released soon and the CB dont appear to be done deals as of yet but it looks like the Bears are going to strike out on that as of now.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) @diannaESPN The New England Patriots are considering trading Malcolm Butler to the New Orleans Saints for Brandin Cooks per sources Patriots are good at this. Chris MortensenVerified account @mortreport 3m3 minutes ago More Sean Payton said it will take a lot to get Brandin Cooks. Sources say they still want quality defensive starter, plus draft picks over 2 yrs Will the Pats give up draft picks tho?

Aaron LemingVerified account @AaronLemingNFL 1m1 minute ago More I'm not saying the #Bears are totally screwed & will miss on most targets. I'm simply saying they've missed on a few FAs over $1.5-2M per yr

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) Jeff Dickerson #Bears did make strong offer to top CB A.J. Bouye. Not sure they land him, but interest is very real. Sounds like Bears won't get him though... Barring an unexpected change, sources say A.J. Bouye expected to leave Texans for huge free agent deal. Expected to remain in AFC South. Brad BiggsVerified account @BradBiggs 2m2 minutes ago More Brad Biggs Retweeted Jeff Dickerson Props to Jeff. #Bears definitely in pursuit of A.J. Bouye. Plenty of competition from AFC South clubs.Brad Biggs added,

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) I realize the whole not wanting to overpay deal but Jesus you sign a career backup, while bidding against yourself, to a stupid contract but won't give an All-pro CB a bit extra to make sure he comes here? Astounding. And its Free Agency! Everyone overpays in FA. How does Pace not understand that?

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) Unsurprising https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/839846117277827072 Un motherf***ing believable.

What pisses me off about Pace right now is that he has been spewing all this nonsense about having restraint in FA and making all these financially conscious decisions but he seems to be missing out on everyone except for the one guy nobody else wanted and he is over bidding on him. WTF

Bears missing out on Gilmore will be another disappointment.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) This is Soxtalk. There are people beating 40 year old horses. We should have a forum for "Beating a Dead Horse Talk". -
Some WR's suddenly resigning with their teams. LaFell and Stills resign, both were Bears targets reportedly.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Not for what it looks like he's going to get paid. Market came back close to what Bears were offering. They had productive talks the other day and Rapoport and Stacey Dales both said he's testing market and then coming back to Bears That is very encouraging
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) I actually think Jeffery is coming back. Niners signed Garcon and Marquise Goodwin. Philly is signing Kenny Britt. Leaves the Bears and Titans for Jeffery Havent the Titans been the favorite for a while though? I hope he comes back it just seems like he doesnt want to be given all things equal. Maybe this will end up how the Lance Briggs contract situation went.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) 30 million guaranteed would make me hurl. Is this being floated out there right now? That should make everyone hurl.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) Almost nobody is giving any of the quarterbacks in this class a top 5 grade. The Bears should not reach there. Which is fine but I swear to god if any of the top three wind up being good I am going to lose my mind that the Bears didnt "reach" to take him at 3. And I will make sure that you ALL will never hear the end of it!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) I think if they were going to take a QB with the #3 pick, they wouldn't spend the money on Glennon. Yes, you most likely will need a placeholder anyway, but I think they would sign a guy a tier or so lower in salary commitment. Probably true but you would sign Glennon if you have the mindset of wanting to win next year + develop definite QB of future. Plus the possibility that Glennon may actually be the QB of the future which is a complete long shot, I know, but then you would have QB u took with the 3rd pick as an asset to trade at that point. I dont believe that any part of this situation is good btw. Its all just hoping at this point.
