QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) Anderson gets pinch hit for like he is the plague. But prancer gets to go up because god was lucky enough to bless him with a left hand as his predominant arm. There is no scientific proof that which arm you use is genetic (or caused by a deity). ... But I definately get your point. -

Super job by Charlie and Boone...scuffled in their first trip and maybe a callback was the tonic...when is the last time our bullpen pitched 3 perfect innings like this? -

I thought Uribe had been swining that bat well lately...Another guy that probably needed to be in our starting lineup tonight w/ Brian. -

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Tigers won though. I think it's safe to say were probably not going to catch them. After seeing this team over the past few nights I think thats a guaranteed lock...We have no pitching to catch Detroit, NONE. We have an incredibly mediocre starting rotation. -

Come on guys...Let Podsednik get his whacks...hell, maybe a ball may actually leave the infield at some point. -

Wow, very weird concept Logan just showed...He was aggressive and attacked the hitters. One of the best innings I've seen from a Sox pitcher not named MacDougal, Garland, or Jenks in 2 months. -

It was movie night with the wife tonight...Watched Field of Dreams...maybe I'll go out in my backyard and build a baseball stadium and the 2005 White Sox will show up there, because they sure as hell haven't been spotted in the majors lately. -
ST Poll: Which Sox starter, excluding Garland..

Buehrle and its no question. Look at the mirror -Early in the season Buehrle was good, the Sox were good -Middle part Buehrle was awful, the Sox were awful -Lately Buehrle has been decent, the Sox have been decent If we get the good Buehrle for the stretch run, we win this division in my view. If the pitching flounders around we'll go down to the final weekend just to slip in as a Wildcard -
QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) I would love for someone to explain to me how Marte is ranked 12th and Fields is ranked 34th. I am not the biggest Fields fan but it seems to me that he has clearly outperformed this kid and is Major League ready where Marte is not. I also don't see any upside that MARTE has that FIELDS doesn't have. Anybody ? I am a big Fields fan. The reason Josh has been ranked lower is his composite numbers on strikeouts don't look too good and he has not been that great in the field. However, he HAS IMPROVED...and quite a bit. The rankings don't take into account this year alone...I think if you ignored Fields' erratic defense at Birmingham and concentrate on his improved play at Charlotte to go along with his almost 30 steals and tremendous power he is a Top 15 prospect, no worse. I don't expect Fields to strike out only 35 times a season, but that right now is his only weakness...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Dave Roberts and getting him as a free agent would be a good move...the guy is a total gamer. If we are looking for a quality leadoff hitter, here he is. If he isn't the guy, please submit your proposal for a good team guy with high character who plays the game the right way and can be a superb leadoff guy.

I believe Hendry has HURT these teams. Look at the facts...When Palanco went down, Infante' was due to take over and in his first game I believe he had a hit or two. The Tigers got Neifi Perez and Leyland stuck him out in the lineup. Perez is one of the worst hitters in baseball and has a .125 average since going over to Detroit while Infante' stews away on the bench with a .400 batting average in August. Without Perez, Detroit would have Infante' in their lineup and they would be MUCH better offensively. So I am glad the Tigers got Perez...maybe by the time Leyland figures out he had the right guy all along we'll have caught them. Oh no....If teams are going to the Cubs for "upgrades" then they may have more problems than we first realize. Relax and enjoy September.

QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) We have 3 with the Royals coming up... The next 3 days can give us a nice buffer zone on the Twins and help us inch closer to The Tigers before we hit our more difficult end of the year. This team will not sweep the Royals. We will gain no ground this weekend on Detroit....could pickup on the twins as the Yankees miss Santana.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) PK said in the paper he doesn't like to DH, as he gets fatigued from swinging so much in between innings. Since he's a vastly superior defensive player to Gload, we need to keep him on the field. Agree. Konerko is our first baseman, he is not our first baseman by default. He needs to be on the field, not Gload. I don't mind giving him a spell at DH, but he needs to play first base, because he is paid to do it... and we have to do something with Podsednik, he is the worst leadoff hitter in baseball right now

Offense was pathetic. Podsednik is a liability. I don't get the desire to let him hit and to take Anderson out. Pods was 0 for 9 in the last two games of this series with 5 strikeouts and 3 dribblers and a pop out. Anderson is one guy who is hitting, he is having great at bats...but we keep rolling Podsednik out there like this? I don't get it. The pitching until McCarthy was adequate to have won this game. You hold Tampa Bay to 3 runs you got to win the game. Thats just typical though. We need a win to sweep and to get on a roll and to more importantly cut the lead to 3.5 and we blow it, totally hosed. I think based on the way this team plays, we will NOT sweep kansas city this weekend. the ONLY saving grace about that series is the game Mark Redmond pitches we are likely not to see Scott Podsednik. If we can beat RunnyNose tomorrow then we should be good for 2 out of 3, but this team simply isn't good enough nor are they managed well enough to actually sweep many teams....oh wait, except Detroit, we can sweep them, but then split with KC and fail on a sweep of Tampa Bay. This team is confounding at times. Twins play Yankees so I doubt we lose ground to them. But thankfully, September is tomorrow and maybe thats the month our team actually starts playing like World Champions, if not we'll be lucky to make it to the playoffs.

this is one of the most embarassing performances of offensive baseball ive seen in some time....These pitchers are all terrible, their stats are not worthy of major league yet they will have shut us out over the last 4.1 on 1 hit and 6 Ks????? This team doesn't deserve this damn division. -

McClungs stats are horrific... I hate taking Anderson out there...Pods stinks and BA is hitting, so Ozzie hits for the guy who is hitting and leaves the automatic out in?
