I would like to comment on the ticket prices as a subject. it breaks down very simply, we do not have to go. I would stop complaining and watch the game on TV or listen to the radio if you don't like the prices. In addition, many people surmise that if prices go up then we will spend it on players. I say, bulls***. There are several factors including the quite simple one, "they think people will pay more money and they can make more money" I suspect this is somewhat true. They will still have half price night for all the broke and drunk young people, and they will still give away seats for students on several weekday day games in the upper deck, but mainly they are catering to folks like STEFF who fork over the BIG Money each year, despite the costs.

I am too and from seattle alot, as well as I have many friends in seattle. Seattle newspapers as well as talk shows all said Borchard was offered and turned down because of the type of player he was. he didn't fit the ballpark. Reed is a line drive gap hitter and a speedy guy, which fits the dynamics of the park. Made perfect sense. Ps Borchard does suck and after next year if he makes no improvment or the sox can't dump him....then the sox will dump him.

Months ago I stated in a thread the sox should pick up koskie and play him at first base. You then trade Konerko for pitching. I was probably told that Koskie sucked or was too much or couldn't play first. I will state again koskie plays first. Trade konerko for pitching.

I would consider this a redsox back up or back up plan. If another team stepped up and matched and promised to start the guy he would probably jump. But the wsox have a plan and we are all just sheep in the grand plan.

I think detriot will spend asa much as the sox this year because they know the division is there to take.The tigers have young starters whom will get better. By solidifyign the pen it makes sense. They now have a much better bullpen. If they sign kent they arguably have a strong team to contend. nice signing. Wish we signed him.

Once again, Jim H was wrong.

First of all, the sox will probably raise payroll if they get the right guy. They have done this in the past and will do it again. Secondly, valentin is off the books which frees up 5 million. In addition, everyone is also assuming they won't trade anybody to offset signings. The whitesox could easily raise payroll this year if the right guys are out there knowing full well, that valentin is gone, and konerko and Everett will be off the books next year. Its not status quo, they will not go out and spend like nuts, but if pavano says he wants to play here and same with visqual then they will get it done. Trouble is I don't think Pavano is saying that.Nor do I think there are many that are saying they want to play here.

Justin Jones was rated the number 2 cubs prospect by baseball america. he is a young lefthander. Good prospect, that will probably kill the sox three years from now.

I agree with everything except the last part. Perez is not the long term solution. You are right. IMO, the next ten games are the season. We can pull within 2 games of the twins as they play a tough schedule and we don't. If we don't do that than I say its over. Therefore, although perez is not long term, I think he is better than borchard right now and gives us a number two hitter that can make contact. That said I would play the best players for the next ten days. If we are out of it after that, than by all means let Borchard play the entire month of september.

I agree. First off I think Murphy is an excellent Baseball guy. I don't care if he talks about the Cubs after this trade. If the Sox got him they would be talking about that. Murphy knows the game, and he is a Cub fan. I will miss him in the mornings, but I learn more from him in one morning than from most other experts. He is hard on the Cubs as well. He hates the Trib, hates the Cub brass besides Hendry. He has been kicked out of Wrigley due to his comments on the Air. He calls Mac Pail, Mac Fail in regards to his kissing the Tribs ass. He is on the side of the fan. He is not agaisnt the Whitesox at all.

I agree with the exception of the cheap free agent. i think we will get a much better 4 or five guy via free agency. We will not have the fifth starter issue next year because maggs will either sign for less money or be gone. I think Maggs is gone therefore we will concentrate more on pitching rather than hitting. just my two cents.

I blame OZzie for this move. This was a bad move, I stated that when it was made. Politte has done this before. In toronto remember? He hates the pressure. he likes the sixth or seventh inning. thats it. So Yes I blame Ozzie for this move.
