  1. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Last thing I want to hear with this team is "standing pat" or "minor move." Hopefully this stretch can be a wakeup call to our front office. Correct, we need to infuse a big player. Although I do not believe alot of what rosenthal says he did say that Detriot is looking heavily at soriano. Thats the type of infusion we need. A player with a name. By the way I do think andersen is coming around and should be here long term. i also think we can get another centerfielder for this year without giving him up. i don't believe we can win this thing with a center fielder hitting that low.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Everything and I mean every thing going right for the Red Sox. They are a good team and generally good teams earn their breaks. The strike zone has been a little weird today but so be it. If the White Sox want to be great they need to beat great teams. Witness the 10th inning, you have got to make that stolen base happen and then you need a big hit. Didn't happen and now they are losing. A wake up call for the 2nd half, not much else to say. Jim they look bad right now and it won't get easier. The division maybe out of range unless they sweep the tigers. I also think they need a trade, maybe that shoota guy can think one up for us.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I think Fathom already said it, but it is indeed scary how similiar this series has been to the series against the A's last year. difference is, we had a nice lead in first place last year. This year we are chasing our tails.
  4. QUOTE(jenksd @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) this series, crede and konerko are incognito as far as sucking goes Completely agree. They are in a slump. Its Dye, Thome and and and, Andersen. I said it.
  5. jenks one more inning then vasquez will need to pitch.
  6. we had our chance a few innings ago with konerko and dye hitting with a man on third. That was the chance. Now we are screwed. By the way I am sure someone has these stats but Paulie seems to be in a little slump, at least to my eye, especially with runners on. Just in the last two series and especially this series.
  7. Pods has to be one of the worst fielding outfielders I have seen. For a guy who is fast he gets the worst jumps on balls and quite frankly when he is in the field he runs like a girl. He is on a short leash. if the guy cannot steal 50-60 bases he is quite useless.
  8. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) This seems too pessimistic but there's some merit to what you're saying. Our pitching is not good enough to beat the really good teams. KW should see if there's a quality starter available, otherwise it's hope and pray that our starters magically get better. I've heard so much about the Tigers fading because they couldn't beat the Red Sox or Yankees. Well, everyone will shut up about that now that we're getting our asses handed to us by Boston. You were on the thread yesterday, you know what I am saying.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) I'm worried about the same exact thing. If we get our asses kicked by the Tigers and Yankees to start the 2nd half, I don't like our chances the rest of the way. Listen we had a tough time trying to catch the tigers when we were 2 games back much less if we are 6 games back. I realize the tigers will slump a bit but if we are 6 or more games back that would be too many to make up. The last 50 days we could not make up 2 games. In addition, I am a bit miffed of the "its a long season" comment. Its not a long season there are two months left, not 4. In addition the yankees will get hot. We will battle for the wild card, and it will be tough to get that.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) The Red Sox have outplayed us in every phase of the game this series. Fathom in another thread I mentioned that by the time we get back from detriot we will be 6 games out and no longer in contention for the division. We are playing like s***. This is the first decent pitched game in a long time and now our bats are cooling. We will contend for the wild card and thats it. Detriot will trade for a big name, we will get bullpen help. The yanks will play better and we will go back and forth with them for the wild card. Sorry folks, tough schedule and Detriot will be too far ahead to catch. Oh by the way I am a sox fan, but a realistic one.
  11. My hope is they don't fall 4 games behind after today. Tough schedule coming up.
  12. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) Question for ya guys. What you rather have the small ball, solid defensive, 1 run winning team, dominate pitching team we had last year or the out slugging team that gives up a ton of runs team that we have this year? In the long run outslugging people won't work. Ask the Rangers. Now the Sox are geared to have both but the starting staff in all seriousness sucks right now. They are really bad. in addition and completely off the subject, buehrle has no right to go to the all star game and I would much rather see liriano or schilling in there. Hell if I were buerhle I would make up some injury and get out of it. The starters are the key to the second half. They pitch we will win.
  13. Ok I agree, but I don't want to be 6 games back when they start to slide. If we leave Detriot two games back, its time to celebrate. tigers up 2-1 and rallying. Seattles defense is horrible.
