  1. Are we planning on having a pitching staff one day that consists of all lefties?
  2. Here's a scouting report on him: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/...content=morgado Solid pick. Seems to have a really good arm and could be a power arm out of the pen. With his injury concerns, it wouldn't seem like it'd be wise to have him start (Had TJ surgery). Great pick by the Jays.
  3. f*** the Twins, they seem to be 1 step ahead of us every damn time.
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) Thompson is a HSer that is raking in California (thru 54 AB he was hitting .463 with 9 HR). I wouldn't say he is more athlete than ballplayer. Mitchell has those massive strikeout numbers to worry about, but Thompson has nothing to say he isn't a ballplayer. I was going off of what I read about Thompson. First time focusing on baseball, very raw, extremely athletic. Cards get a great arm in Joe Kelly.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) A little disappointed with tonight's happenings in the draft relating to the Sox. Agreed, was not a fan of our 2nd round at all. I think getting Garret Gould and Max Walla would have been a lot better.
  6. DBacks loading up on third basemen. Mark Reynolds, your future is not safe.
  7. Great pick by the Royals. They were possibly targeting him at 12, and get him at 91.
  8. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) I really, reaaly, really hope I am wrong, but I fear Mitchell is a wasted pick. I just don't know of any college hitter who strikes out 30% of his ABs having success in the majors. Hopefully Mitchell will step inj and prove me wrong...I just don't see it. I agree, but this is a situation with a player being very raw comes in handy because there's still a lot of room for improvement.
  9. I want Wil Myers if he's still there at 102. A bit raw, but a phenomenal athlete from behind the plate and has really quick hands.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) BA always jokes about how smart he is, but he's just too ugly to get his face on TV on a regular basis. If John Clayton could be on TV on a regular basis, anyone can.
  11. So far, I'll give this draft a meh. Love the Phegley pick, really advanced hitter. We addressed the need in the OF, but we drafted two pretty big projects. Right now both Mitchell and Thompson are more so athletes rather than baseball players. Would have prefered maybe Kipnis instead of Thompson. Or, I think it woulda been better to go with Gould at 61 and Max Walla at 71. Holmberg is meh. Decent pick, maybe he can develop some more velocity.
  12. Without a hat on, he looks completely different...
  13. Real good pick by the Brewers... Wish we would went with Walla.
  14. Here's Thompson's scouting report: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/...ontent=thompson
  15. Sounds like a soft tossing lefty out of high school.
  16. Sox pick coming up in a minute... Billy Bullock picked by the Twins, he could have been a guy the White Sox were targeting.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Who knows. UCLA usually keeps there guys for the most part, that said, he wasn't slated to go necessarily this early, partly because of his committ and the fact that he still has a lot to learn, but his tools grade out well. My guess is the Sox have talked to him and know he wants to play. They are usually very good at feeling out these kind of guys. I also think this makes it more likely we see them grab a tougher sign eventually. If he doesn't sign, we get the 62 pick next year, right? Or just a comp pick between rounds 3 and 4?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) Interesting, Stock is a darn talented guy but most had him pegged as a pitcher. Going to use him as the catcher. I read he would prefer to catch...
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) Jack Mckeon looks good. How old is he? Mid 70's I'd say. Maybe even close to 80.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) Wrong guy or so I'd assume, since Thompson is black. They showed a video, and it was a white guy...
  21. Nice pick by the Dodgers... Gould has one of the best curves in the draft.
