QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) At least Josh didn't swing and miss too many times today. 3 walks ain't bad. Although the last one looked was kind of iffy and he almost struck out there. Got bailed out by two umpires. I don't get why pitchers with any velocity at all don't throw anything but fastballs to Fields. For some reason all of them decided to get cute with Fields and try and paint the corners, etc. Until he proves he can hit a mid 90's fastball, there's no reason why a pitcher shouldn't throw that over and over. I liked that he at least choked up on the bat after he realized that the Zumaya fastball was already in the catchers glove by the time he swung.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) for those of you who follow the minors, is Danks 2 upside a LH Pence? Because if so, that would be good His upside is probably Grady Sizemore. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) that's when JR and KW have a meeting with him after the year and explain to him the orgs plan for the team and if he doesn't want in they'll let him "retire" and say he's burned out I think Rockin Robin would be a kickass manager if we went with the youth movement. -

Likely gonna be a long day for Fields... Considering he's facing Jackson who throws in the mid-high 90's, there's gonna be a lot of swing and misses by him. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) Cowley $speculates that Jermaine Dye, Octavio Dotel and even Bobby Jenks could be traded by the deadline. Also, speculated by Joe Cowley? That Nick Swisher and Orlando Cabrera suck, and AJ can't throw. Sorry, to drop that bombshell on everyone. That Cowley is a great journalist... it's not like anyone here has been saying that since even before the season started.

Wow, looking at Casario's stats, he has some K concerns. Struck out over 60 times. However, I still like the pick as he seems like the type that can develop and maybe make it as a AAAA type of player or even a backup.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 07:47 AM) BearSox, The US media had nothing do do with his radicalization. You know he went overseas right? (not going to go into too much more detail than this, though.) I know, but I'm just saying how insanely idiotic it is to blame anyone in the media for the actions of nut jobs. -
If I'm wrong... Who's balls do I have to kiss again? Also, Gage, you were dead on about how we should have drafted Crawford. Still K's a ton, but he's been hitting this year, and his ability to play SS could also translate to 3B, 2B, or even maybe even somewhere in the OF. Morel, while he seems like a decent player, he's just meh.

I like Cassario and Burnside picks so far.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) Isn't it pretty pointless following rounds 31-50? It seems like these guys don't even sign anymore. Without the "draft and follow" option anymore, I'm surprised the draft is this long anymore. Agreed. It seems like the only players that would sign this late are College Seniors or High School players who don't want to go to college. Most college juniors who get drafted will probably opt to go back for their senior year to raise their draft value. Seastrunk for example, he'll likely head back to try and improve his catching ability. If he proves he can stay behind the plate, he could likely be a top 10 round pick next year.

Beckham's actually the 4th to hit the big leagues... I believe Connor Gillespie (South Carolina?) had a cup of coffee with the Giants last year, not really sure why, they must have really needed a 3B.

Did anyone even think Fields had a chance to make contact in the final AB? I thought it might be wise to take him out and put someone in who might have a chance to hit Verlander, but after thinking about, letting Fields look completely overmatched will let him know why he was benched.

OBP doesn't mean s*** when you are staring at strike 3 right down the middle. ^This is referring to Nick Swisher

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) Wasn't Danks 2 still being represented by Boras when he was drafted last year? Yes, but shortly after the draft, both Danks brothers fired Boras... I think certainly there was some under the table or back door collaborations going on.

Bill O'Reilly called George Tiller "a baby killer" witho

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) Nobody is 'proabortion.' O'Reilly is either extremely ignorant on this point or is trying to jack up indignation among his viewers. My guess is the latter. Nobody is pro-abortion? Well, you basically got 5 groups of people. 1.) Strict pro-life, no abortions for any reason. 2.) Pro-life but can see justification in abortions in some scenarios and are very strongly anti-late term abortion. 3.) Don't care. 4.) Pro-choice who feel it's the women choice, but don't necessarily support abortion 5.) The people who think abortion is alright at anytime for any reason. You can also include eugenics people in here (I love how no one calls out Hilary Clinton for her deep admirition in Marget Sanger even though she was as racist as they come and dreamed of an all white society). Maybe it isn't a real word, but there are plenty of proabortion people out there. And pro choice people certainly aren't anti-abortion. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) Then there needs to be an explanation as to why the planet's climate has decided to move in steps. Question... hasn't the planet been going through climate changes it's whole existence? If so, why should we worry so much about this one? Why do we have to change everything we do if this could be a natural happening? -
Well, you know systems like that have worked brilliantly in europe... My question is, how is the United States not gonna go into bankruptcy?

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:30 AM) It's such a touchy subject, this. I don't think Tiller actively sought to encourage late term abortions, but he performed them. Probably for two reasons - first - he was very good at them, and it is a risky procedure that few doctors will do. Second - it is a legal medical option when the fetus is not seen as viable in Kansas. He was brought up on charges that on 19 occasions that ended up to be the case. He was acquitted on every single charge. For all the vilification that Tiller received, the evidence points to nothing more than a skilled doctor acting professionally and properly within the framework of the law, however you interpret that law to be. Bill O'Reilly is a jackass. But a jackass who is free to call people a baby killer. How many times have you actually watched O'Reilly? Or do you just believe everything the liberal media writes and says about him? If you actually took time to watch his show, you'd see that while he is a conservative, he presents both sides of the argument and then states his opinion. He's got liberals and conservatives on every night for every argument. While you might think he's some crazy conservative talking head, he's really fair and balanced. Probably the most of all the prime time shows. -

If Bill O'Reilly and conservatives are to blame for Dr. Tiller's death... is the liberal media to blame for the Army Recruiters death in Arkansas? After all, the muslim terrorist who killed the Army Recruiter did it for what the "Military has done to his people overseas." And all the liberal media talks about is how evil Bush is, how evil the war on terror is, and how we've tortured hundreds of muslims. However, I'm not an idiot. Anyone who blames O'Reilly or any conservative or any liberal in the media for a crazy persons actions needs to get their head checked. Now, according to the Liberal Media, conservatives are to blame for the shooting at the holocaust museum... wow. This is stupid. The liberal media is beyond stupid. How can you blame anyone for the actions of an insane person? Stupidity. Another interesting thing I heard. Outside of Fox News, Tiller's murder has had about 3 total hours of coverage on CNN and MSNBC, but the army recruiter who got killed has had only about 30 minutes of coverage... Yeah, the media isn't biased at all. And one more thing, anyone who thinks late term abortion is okay, they're messed up, IMO. Okay, I can somewhat stomach the arguement for first term and even 2nd term abortion... but 3rd term? That's a viable baby. Okay, if there's some serious health risks, I can understand it. But otherwise, you are killing a human being, no question about it. With today's medicine, a baby can now survive being born months before the due date. What Tiller did was sickening. There were several reports and accounts of him making up conditions so he could preform the abortions. This man didn't care, he just wanted his money. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) Do you really think that is a particuarly lucrative type of practice? Especially if you factor in what you have to pay in things like security, perhaps life insurance, etc.? Tiller got 5 grand for every abortion late-term abortion he did, and considering the amount of abortions he did (the number is quite sickening), he's made a ton. -
thats the huddy i know and love.... back to back great outings.
