  1. THIS IS A PREDICTION!!!!!!!!!!! 1. Pods, LF 2. Ramirez, SS 3. Dye, RF 4. Pierzynski, C 5. Beckham, 3B 6. Fields, 1B 7. Getz, 2B 8. Anderson, CF 9. Richard, P
  2. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) The problem isn't Alexei's play at SS, it's his bat (which appears to be coming around). I don't mind playing Beckham, but I don't see a need to remove Alexei from SS. From what I look for in a SS is not only someone who makes great plays, but is a leader on the field. So far Alexei hasn't shown the later. A lot of it probably has to do with him speaking a different language then everyone else, but there's been an overall lack of communication between the infielders and infielders, and the infielders with the outfielders. I believe it's the short stop's job to direct traffic and make the call. Too many times we've seen a ball bloop just between the 2B, SS, and CF. Too many times we've had missed communications out there. Think whatever you want of Jeter's D at SS, he's a great leader on the field.
  3. I have a question... If Quentin didn't break his hand last year, would people still think he's injury prone?
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 02:34 AM) But he already has shown real good improvement. Or are you just going to ignore his numbers for the last month? I want to see more consistency out of him. He has a couple of games where he goes 6 for 12, and then he has a couple more games where he looks foolish. And on D, he could be elite or close to it, but he makes a lot of boneheaded plays. I love Alexei, have been his biggest backer for the past 2 years, but I'm not gonna be like "Oh joy, he's had a solid month, he's awesome!" No reason not to let him start for the rest of the season, but if he doesn't improve his consistency and overall play, I'm saying it might not be a terrible idea to go with Beckham at SS and see how he handles it.
  5. whoa whoa whoa... I never said bench Alexei or anything and there's no reason not to let him play for the rest of the year... All I'm saying is if he doesn't show some real good improvement by the end of the year, I'm wondering if it might be wisest putting Beckham at SS, and at the very least, Alexei could be a very solid utility guy.
  6. Crawford has a 2010 option, so there's a good chance he remains in Tampa unless they feel 10 million is too much to spend on him and that Desmond Jennings is ready and/or they feel they need to make room for other players. However, I doubt they'll let him go, and even if they do, with the season he's been having, he's gonna price himself out of our range... plus, we already drafted Mitchell who's suppossed to become our Carl Crawford. With that being said though, I'd love to get Crawford on a 3 year deal to man LF until Mitchell is hopefully ready. Also, Figgins seems like a lock to be signed by us next year. If I had to predict our lineup for next year, I'd say it'd look something like: 1. Figgins, 3B 2. Ramirez, SS 3. Quentin, RF/LF 4. Thome, DH (brought back on a cheap deal... if we suck, he can put fans in seats when he hopefully approaches 600) 5. Konerko, 1B 6. Pierzynski, C (we could see Flowers at some point) 7. FA/Someone via trade, RF/LF 8. Beckham, 2B 9. Danks, CF
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) Fear Itself on NBC and it has been canceled as I assumed. I remember that show... I thought it was decent. They shoulda kept it for the summer when nothing else is on.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) FUTURAMA What a great show, it makes losing king of the hill not as bad. Just having Bender back is pure awesomeness.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) I like Jacobs. He has 40 hrs written all over him. He also has low average, low OBP, and a ton of K's written all over him...
  10. I wouldn't want Soriano anywhere near my team. The guy is god awful in OF and just is a lazy player. He's a great hitter at times, no doubt about it... but the guy is a loser.
  11. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) If Harold Baines Jr., can play baseball like his daddy look out. Hopefully that's the case, but considering he was a 45th round draft pick... don't count on it
  12. I believe her name is Shay Laren, or something like that. I'll just say this... You won't be disappointed if you google her (but don't do it at work or in a public place!!!!) Okay, now back to video games.
  13. Nice, I'm now friends with Dan Hudson and Josh Phegley on facebook... I feel special.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) 2K did it with football. It was god awful. I believe you mean EA... I wish Barack Obama would step in here...
  15. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:17 AM) Language NSFW "Who puts a Manny being Manny bug in this game?" That was freaking hilarious... however, it saddens me to know it's because of that piece of crap game that we no longer have MVP baseball. Also, awesome sig by the way.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) Micah Hoffpair I like the idea of trading for me, but we'd have to get more than just him for Dotel, IMO.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) He was designated for assignment, which means that he had a 10 day clock to have someone else claim him or work out a trade. It's possible he might end up in Charlotte still if he wants to go down but it's more likely that he'll be a FA in a couple days. It hasn't been 10 days yet? Damn... this summer seems to be dragging along for me.
  18. Why isn't Kila Ka'aihue playing first base for you guys, but Mike Jacobs is? That makes no sense... Man, I'd love to get Kila Ka'aihue as our future DH.
  19. Speaking of Marquez... whatever happened to Betemit? Did we outright release him?
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) 4th. Gillepsie for the Giants last year. Schlereth and Perry this year. Beat you to it by almost 24 hours QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:36 AM) Beckham's actually the 4th to hit the big leagues... I believe Connor Gillespie (South Carolina?) had a cup of coffee with the Giants last year, not really sure why, they must have really needed a 3B.
  21. Easily Shelby. There weren't really any high expectations for Morel, and Escobar and Gilmore are both still very young.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) They've worked a bit better than our expensive system. really, how so? Oh, because they never have to ration health care, do they? And you get medical treatment fast as well, right?
  23. I'd love this draft if we go crazy and sign Goodwin and Dane Williams... not gonna happen, but signing them would be f***ing fantastic.
  24. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) overreact much? Thank God you are a poster and not a GM. I didn't say I'd take him out of the starting role yet, but I'm getting pretty tired of him.
  25. Nice win, but... I've mentioned this before, but I'm getting pretty sick and tired of watching Alexei out there. I've been one of his biggest fans and backers the past 2 years, but this s*** is getting old. Since there's not much hope for the rest of the season, IMO, there's no point in not letting Alexei go out there everyday and try and prove something, but I'm getting to the point where I don't think he's good enough to be an everyday player. I would not be upset at all to see Beckham getting a lot of time at SS. Alexei can still be a very valuable utility guy who can play all 3 OF spots as well 2B, 3B, and SS with average or better D. However, I don't think Alexei can be counted on as an everyday player. He tries to hit home runs every AB, and he just doesn't seem to have much baseball IQ (he's a natural player, but he's a bonehead).
