  1. I think the "Harry Potter" books should be banned because he is an evildoer. Signed, Dubya
  2. Just once, I'd like to see a sign that says "All Hail QUEEN Booker" ...
  3. WBEZ is our NPR station. 91.5 FM. They play jazz most nights starting @ 8 PM.
  4. An arm that makes Kyle Orton look like John Elway, bad OBP/OPS, lousy glove and lousy bunting. Other than that, he's a great outfielder/leadoff batter.
  5. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Are you guys up on any late 60s/early 70s era jazz fusion? Dennis Coffey, James Brown Band, Galt MacDermot, Cal Tjader, David Axelrod, Sven Libaek, S.O.U.L., Wade Marcus, Herbie Hancock, Billy Brooks, Jack McDuff, Meters, Kool And The Gang, Freddie Hubbard, Clarence Wheeler, Jimmy McGriff, Groove Holmes, Ike Taylor, Joe Farrell, Jimmy Caravan, Bernard Purdie, Gene Harris, Crusaders, Billy Cobham, Grant Green, Cannonball Adderly, Wes Montgomery, Sun Ra, etc? Or just straight jazz from the early-to-mid 60s? I guess that stuff kinda puts me to sleep. I've heard some of the names, most notably Kool & The Gang. Probably by listening to WBEZ while I'm out for my nightly walk.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama runs. I'm okay with anyone but Hillary. She just grates on me. If she does run and gets the nomination, I'll vote for her against Jeb (you know he's gonna run on the GOP ticket-he probably sees the Oval Office as his birthright) but I won't like it.
  7. I hope the Dems hammer Hastert on this. I don't think Howard Dean and the DNC brain trust are hitting him hard enough. He thinks his you-know-what doesn't stink. He knew years ago and was hoping to use it as leverage.
  8. I go further back in my jazz listening. My favorite jazz album, which I borrowed from my dad and made a copy, is First Time!: The Count Meets The Duke. Two of the titans of jazz collaborating on one album.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) Best sound effect of all time. Although as a lifelong Sox fan, it does kinda irritate me when he defames the late Andy The Clown when he applies the name to that bozo who ran the team whose games appear on the Bozo Channel.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Mexi-Coach = Best.Ever That wasn't a soundalike contest. That was "Sports Apologies".
  11. I'm going to miss the clown sound effect that Mike Murphy uses when he refers to MacPhail as "Andy The Clown".
  12. You forgot one: the proper way to salute the other driver's driving ability is the one finger way.
  13. I'd want these traditional hymns. For the Mass, I want "How Great Thou Art", "Nearer My God To Thee", "City of God" and "On Eagles' Wings". For the graveside service, I want "Amazing Grace", "Highland Cathedral" and Largo (Going Home) from Dvorak's Symphony #9, "The New World", all played by a bagpiper.
  14. I'm in. My team is probably the biggest bunch of misfits and hotties you'll ever see... Ariel Bobby Lashley Candice CM Punk Finlay Little Bastard Rob Van Dam Stone Cold Trinity Triple H
  15. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Mt. Carmel is the most hatable school in the state. They recruit kids from all over for their teamsa, their coach Frank Lenti is the scum of the earth, and they once successfully sued and stopped the entire state wrestling tournament because they had been disqualified for violating the rules on the number wrestling tournaments they hold. The throng of 50 something Mt. Carmel alumni that cling to the "glory days" and believe that nobody is as good as Mt. Carmel sickens me. I'd like to see the school closed. New Trier is wealthy, but mostly harmless. Other than the fact that the parents of all those kids are loaded, there's really no reason to make them hatable. There's no need to hold all that anger in. Let it all out . For the record, I agree with you. Mount Carmel alums are almost as bad as Notre Dame alums.
  16. The way Musberger, Herbstreit and Davie were talking last night, you would've thought that Ohio State already has the national championship in the bag. Frankly, I'm not suprised. Musberger hates Iowa and I knew Herbstreit was gonna be a homer for his alma mater. OSU was fattening up their Heisman stats, yet they said nothing. OTOH, if the roles had been reversed, they would've been whining about Iowa running up the score. Drew Tate didn't help though, thinking he's Brett Favre.
  17. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) man, these guys need to get some fans with better impersonation skills. THe ONLY impersonation segmant I have heard was the Ozzie sound alike contest. Black men doing Hawk... VERY BAD! The first one they did, the Joe Cain soundalike contest, was good. But you'd think they would've learned their lesson after the John Shoop, George Ofman, black people doing Hawk and Ed Farmer soundalike contests.
  18. Get your ovens ready. When at the desired temperature, insert head.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) I was just noticing that RUSH is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I was a bit surprised. 30 years of some pretty damn good rock and roll. What say you music mavens? A simple explanation: Geddy Lee's voice has been known to induce vomiting.
  20. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) *Cough*Sorry, I meant 2007.
  21. My personal feeling is when they traded El Duque for Vazquez in spring training, they never intended for Vazquez to pitch one inning this year in a Sox uni. I think they acquired him with the intention of finding someone stupid enough to take on his fat contract and making B-Mac the 5th starter.
  22. Okay, the Nationals were shopping Soriano at the trade deadline. Here's the problem: they didn't just want McCarthy, Sweeney or Fields. They wanted all the top prospects. I praise Kenny for not selling the farm in order to get an aging, whiny veteran with a big contract and even bigger ego. IMHO, the leadoff hitter for the 2006 Chicago White Sox will be Jerry Owens. He's their top speed prospect. The reasons why they traded for Scott Podsednik are 1. Owens was two years away from being ready for the big leagues and 2. I liked seeing Carlos Lee hitting walkoff grand slams against the Cubs, but he's a member of the 'swing hard in case you hit it' club.
