I am in deep south Texas, no one except vistors and bankers wear suits. I'm like the old guys I use to make fun of in Chicago. I haen't bought a new tie in 8 years, a new suit in 6 years. Business attire is a pair of slacks and a golf shirt.

I agree 100%. Actually of all positions, outfield is the systems deepest spot. If this was starting pitching, we'd be in a heap of trouble. It's the process I've been seeing since BV's rent a player days. Could you see the Cubs lose Sosa? To me it's on the same level.

Which brings up an interesting topic. Looking at other entertainment venues, movies, theater, concerts, opera, etc. they have variable pricing plans. I've paid $100 to see Aerosmith and $6. with a two drink minimum to see David Lee Roth. Both were fair prices. Movies will not allow discount tickets for Lord of the Rings, yet will for lesser movies. Why not variable pricing based on who the team is playing? I know baseball wants to think we are cming out to see the home team, but reality is some teams are draws, some are not.

Here's a thought. If Munoz could somehow be "the guy" Kenny wouldn't have to make a deal. Maybe starting the guy here in early June wouldn't be such a bad idea. Unless they know he ain't ready.

I'm not so certain that trading him at the deadline is a good idea. A. Whatever contender is willing to give up for a 1/2 season Maggs isn't going to help our team. B. We have a chance to at least reach the play-offs. Isn't a playoff run wrth more than a couple AA prospects and a couple million in the shareholder's pockets? C. Whichever contender we trade him to is obviously more interested in winning this year than we are, what message does that send to the fans? All we will have is a tear filled press conference on his way out of town.

Trade him? In the middle of a pennant race? No one will take him after the season, he's a free agent. That would mean trading him mid season. Who's going to grab him for 1/2 a year and giveup something comperable. No, all we'll get is a I'm going to miss Chicago, the fans, and all my team mates.

I'm shocked I guess you had to vote for a moderate sometime or another I'm still on the fence. I am waiting to see who Kerry picks as his running mate. There are a couple candidates that could sway my vote. The reality is I live in a state where it will not matter how I vote. Bush will carry Texas by a wide margin. Kerry will carry my county by a wide margin.

I cannot crticize a player for wanting the best contract available. I've hired over 100 people in my life, and I never had anyone turn down a pay raise, or ask for a lower starting salary. I've had plenty of employees get offers from other companies that I would not match and they left. If we are going to play the financial game of understanding ownerships position then understand this. Ownership thinks they can make more money without Maggs than with him. They think fans will continue to arrive, continue to buy memorabilia, watch the games, without Maggs. If we are going to understand the ownership position, understand this, they are trying to maximize their profits. If we allow them to put a crap product on the field and attendance only drops slightly, welcome to decades of crap and no World Series wins for another 100 years. We can tell out great grandchildren "Sorry the last time the team had the finances to compete was way back in the 1950s" Let's go to the 150 year Celebration of the last WS win!! Pack the park!!

Why continue to support a team that cannot retain it's best players? We're no better than Montreal in that regard.
