  3. I payed by golf pro a lot more for an hour lesson, so $40 doesn't sound all that bad, if he knows what he's doing. At least with golf pros you can check if they have their Class A PGA card. With baseball coaches, no such standard exists.
  4. To really do this properly you need to bounce the rotation against the schedule. I do not place must stock in the righty - lefty - righty or any of the junk - fast ball - junk, etc. theories. I think past history against teams is more important. So if Sho in the 5 spot costs him a start against a team that has rocked him and gets him a start against a team he is strong against, then that is good.
  5. If they broke out Offense vs. Pitching vs. Defense, I think we would be top ten in Offense for certain. But I agree with 2K4, middle of the pack sounds about right. If we were in the AL East of West we would have zero chance of a playoff appearance.
  6. I think the division is getting a little tougher. Minny drops a bit and the Royals, Indians, and Tiggers move up. We had a s***ty record against the Tiggers last year, I suspect even with them getting better our record will improve. I'm thinking closer to 90 than 85. Everything could change in July. If we are selling, adios season. If we are buying then 90 should be within reach. But hey, I'm always the optimist
  7. We should have left him around. My guess is we could have had him crying for his mommy in a couple days. I'm thinking we leave these guys around and edit the hell out of their posts until they get so pissed, they leave. We could mess with their settings, all of a sudden give them a big pro sox avatar, a very nice signature, etc. Basically treat him like we do PA
  8. A key bit of imformation was left out of this poll. No one should ever eat a slider if they are sober. My vote would depend on the alcohol intake: High: White Castle. Return home with bits of onion down your shirt Medium: McDonalds for the burgers Low: Taco Bell if you ant to drive thru and go Low: Denny's if you want to go in and hit on a lonely waitress. Well except if you are anything but a WASP. Then Denny's might not serve you for hours.
  9. PA, sorry dude, I just never thought she would really be with you I knew this one couple, both very nice people. His wife was constantly the center of attention, and his favorite line to use was: "That's fine, but when you bring her back, and trust me you will want to bring her back, at least feed her." Also funny because they are in the restaurant business. I sometimes wondered why Joanne was hit on so often. She isn't particularly flirtatous, but you could dip her in a pond and scoop cute out all year. With my wife, even when we were dating I laughed that stuff off. At an office party where whe worked, a guy asked me if I knew if she had a boyfriend. I replied he was a real dork, but had a great sense of humor. I watchd him circle for a couple minutes and when he finally made some comment to her she laughed and pointed to me. The guy turned beat red and walked away. Hell, I was going to buy him a drink.
  10. I thought sox4lifeinPA was already in favor of testing. I didn't realize one of our esteemed posters has a vote.
  11. Tyco managed to destroy one of the best suppliers of electronic connectors in the world. AMP, Inc. had incredible customer service and a huge market share. When I started in the electronic distribution industry the prevailing wisdom was anything could and shouldbe designed using the Sprague, Motorola, Dale, and Amp catalogs. If they didn't make it, do not use it. In two years of Tyco management, they destroyed all the good will that AMP spent decades building. Hmmm, I wonder is Jas is stealing from soxtalk . . .

In effect she was a copy cat herself. I can think of a few cases of faked kidnappings through the years.

Yesterday I was talking with a secretary at one of my clients and we got way off tangent. She made the statement that every woman enjoys getting hit on, if they say otherwise, they are lying. They want to know "they still have it". My thought was no one wants creepy old guy hitting on them. And of course I do not me this or this or this It would be more like this or with and for the ladies
  14. Last year I had way too much expectation for that team. After the 0-3 start, and seeing my first glimpse of Billy Botch, the rest of the season never got above decent. OK maybe that stretch in July when we climbed back into the race was fun. This year I a trying to set my expectaions at rock bottom. If I could convince myself that 6th place in our division was obtainable, I would have. But 5th is as low as it goes. Anyone want to here the scenario I built for 5th place? The Tigers had the best off season, Cleveland did ok, add a couple injuries to our core (Maggs, Frank, Lee, Mark, etc.), Ozzie being worse than JM, and we could finish last. So if we can win as many as we lose, that will be fun for me. I happen to think it will be another 3-way with the Twins, Royals, and us. If I really, really had to make a wager, I would have the the division Royals, Sox, Twins, Indians, Tigers. I feel better with the bottom three pick than the top 2. Percentage likely Tigers 5%. Indians 10%, Twins 25%, Royals & Sox 30%. The more I look at our offense, the more I think about Crede, Olivo, and Lee geting a year older, I get excited. THe more Frank adopts a team first attitude, the more excited I get. The more I think about Ozz, Harold, and Joey working the bench, the more excited I get. We have a team to win the Central. Imagine of we were in the East or West. No need to even think about the season.

  20. Just be careful. There are some unethical types out there who will enjoy taking your money and feeding your dreams. Also, read as many pitcher bios as you can find. It's a amazing how most developed by throwing lots and lots of pitches. And finally, look for a catcher who wants to develop his skills. I caught a couple guys for an hour or two a day for months on end. We both were helping each other. We also had a guy who was trying to develop a better hitting eye who would drop by every once in a while to stand without a bat in the box and call balls and strikes to himself. Even though none of us played professionaly, we had a lot of fun. If I was doing it for money, or paying, at some level it would have been disappointing instead of fun.
