    Ring Question

Steff, don't you just love bumping old threads? I'm hearing Mem'ries light the corners of my mind Misty water-colored mem'ries of the way we were Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then Or has time rewritten every line If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we, could we Mem'ries may be beautiful and yet What's too painful to remember we simply choose to forget So it's the laughter we will remember Whenever we remember the way we were. The way we were.

  8. Thank God they found her. Anyone want to bet her attacker was a loner guy, really dorky, who imagined a relationship? In general why are guys so much more f***ed up than women?

    Rape Laws

Situation A: Wouldn't you be stealing your own car? I guess the scenario I'm thinking is a prostitute who doesn't get paid. Perhaps she heads off to a motel to work out the details of the transaction and once inside is forced to have sex. Would tossing her a $1 make a difference?(sorry ladies I can't think of another way to state the question) For example, if she agreed to a BJ for $20 and then the customer forced her to have intercourse, would it be rape? Of course we would then have to debate what "sex" is.
  10. Do you mind if I reply?
  11. You aren't missing anything. I understand that not every Iraqi was enthusiastic about the liberation. But to do that to any human is disgusting. It is hard not remember we are trying to help these people. This looks more like we are against them.

    Rape Laws

Would it be rape if instead of paying her the agreed upon price, he paid her $0.01?

    Rape Laws

I think I understand what you are saying. If she is committing illegal prostitution she has forfeited her right to be protected by the rape laws. If what she is doing is legal, then she should be protected by the law. That is interesting. Kind of like the guy who called police when someone robbed him of his marijuana at gun point. Since he was engaged in an illegal act, the police were not going to help him.
  14. thank you. Someone needs to add some stuff. I'm trying to get a few different things going. I figure next week SL&P should be dead with the season starting.

    Rape Laws

Could the fact she was working as a prostitute be used by the defense? Do you think the rapist could be convicted?
  16. I wasn't. I goofed and hit quote instead of reply. Let me fix that.

    Rape Laws

In another thread it is being discussed about the behavior of Kobe's accuser and whether her sexual history is relevent. To take this to an extreme, and not to infer in anyway that she is a prostitute, if we believe no means no, and history means nothing, is it possible for prostitute, while working, to be raped?
  18. If you would like to debate the length of his sentence, I would agree he got out earlier than I think was fair. I used him as an example of someone who was rehabilitated and was a functioning, contributing member of society. I believe he is no longer a threat to anyone. I also believe other criminals have also been rehablitated. Should someone who serves his sentence be allowed to earn a living and just how good of a living should it be? Should we tell them they have forfeited their right to hold any position? If he was a janitor, would you argue he took the job away from someone who would be a great janitor and hadn't committed a crime?
  19. A. Innocent until proven guilty. B. Just because someone is accused of a crime, doesn't mean they forfeit their rights. C. Just because someone is innocent doesn't mean they should forfeit their rights.
  20. No. But I am wondering what elese we should do? Give them more money? Counseling? What else should society do?
  21. He did pay his debt. He was a model prisoner, and led an exemplary life after getting paroled. You even say he *was* a murderer and scumbag. I assume that means he isn't now. He did not tell employers about his murder conviction so that he could be gainfully employed. I wonder if he would have led such a respectable life after parole if he was denied employment and the means to raise his family. Can every murderer be rehabilitated? I don't think so. Some can. I always think those crimes if passion murders, someone finds out his wife is having an affair, etc. can be rehabilitated.
  22. What more would you like to do for the victim?
